At the end of the lecture, Luke and Scarlett headed to the cafeteria for lunch. Luke hadn't eaten anything all day, so he was starving. Meanwhile, Scarlett was focused on the assignment Professor Mary had given them.

It wasn't an easy assignment.

First, they had to explain how each factor affected Tether Tension.

Then they had to show the relationship between Tether Load and Tension, where the breaking point reaching zero caused Severance.

Finally, they had to find real cases where a tether had actually snapped and identify which factor had caused it.

"You should just ask people," Luke suggested as they sat down with their trays. "Have you ever had your tether snap before?"

Scarlett looked up from her notebook and thought for a moment.

"Yeah," she answered. "Right after I awakened my Phoenix, my aunt wanted to test its strength herself, so she dragged me into a mock duel.
