Chapter 97: Xuanhuan Cultivation BL (XIII)
The appearance of a true Phoenix among the Spirit Clan, one unseen for thousands of years, did not lead to the internal strife everyone had expected. Instead, nearly everyone immediately acknowledged the new Spirit Emperor . At that moment, the Spirit Clan ‘s reverence for bloodline became unmistakably clear. The Scarlet Serpent Tribe had always served as the Phoenix Tribe’s royal guard, and this time, the tribe’s greatest genius had even saved the Spirit Emperor’s life. Although some races inevitably harbored reservations, none dared raise a hand against a Phoenix.
The Phoenix was a race reborn through flames. Although every rebirth required passing through death, they became stronger than before after each one. Moreover, while this true Phoenix did not appear to have reached full maturity, the aura surrounding him was no weaker than that of a fully grown Phoenix. It was highly likely that he had already undergone one Nirvana. To attack such a Phoenix would undoubtedly be an act of utter stupidity.
The Spirit Clan consisted of magical beasts born between heaven and earth, creatures that had cultivated themselves into human form. As such, they naturally remained part of nature’s food chain, with predator and prey determined from birth. Yet once they cultivated into spirits, they defied the heavens and transcended those primitive natural laws. It was not uncommon for former natural enemies to fight side by side.
Besides, the Spirit Clan was currently in decline. The emergence of a Spirit Emperor at such a time would clearly strengthen the Spirit Realm. Rejecting him would only prove they were no different from humans.
Red gauze curtains draped around the bed. When Bai Yingqi opened her eyes, she found herself staring at a phoenix embroidered in golden thread upon the canopy. If not for the fragment of memory from before she had lost consciousness, she would have thought she had transmigrated again, perhaps even into some imperial harem drama. Looking around, she found nothing resembling the pavilions favored by cultivators. Unlike human cultivators, who preferred building their residences where spiritual energy was abundant, spirits preferred hollowing out caves from solid stone. Yet the furnishings within were in no way inferior to those of a cultivator’s residence. If anything, they were even more luxurious.
She got out of bed and stepped onto a red carpet. She had no idea what material lay beneath it, but it was so soft that every step felt exceptionally comfortable. As she looked down, a shadow suddenly fell across her, blocking the glow of the luminous pearls. She looked up and met a pair of eyes she knew all too well. The usual coldness had diminished, replaced by a trace of regal authority. Could a mere change in status alter someone so much? His red robes were no longer the simple garments she remembered. Layer upon layer of intricate fabric overlapped, resembling imperial court attire and every detail exuding wealth and magnificence.
“Qiqi, you’re awake. This is the Spirit Realm. If you wish to return, I’ll send you back.” Miao Lichen rested his fingers on Bai Yingqi’s shoulder. Faint golden lines shimmered across his jade-white fingers, lending him an indescribable air of nobility.
Bai Yingqi could not help wondering whether those golden lines existed solely to emphasize the Phoenix’s extraordinary nature, appearing even upon his body. Was that why Jiang Lingwen had later become obsessed once more with Feng Yingruo, who had previously failed to interest him, even intensifying his “play” far beyond their first encounter? Recalling those vividly described scenes made her cheeks flush slightly. It seemed she had lived in the cultivation world long enough that the sense of shame she had long ago discarded in her previous life had somehow returned. Quite an unexpected development.
“Wherever you are, that’s where I’ll be. To me, there’s no real difference between the Cultivation Realm and the Spirit Realm. Besides, if I stayed among the cultivators, I might become a weapon those hypocrites could use against you. I don’t want that.” Bai Yingqi’s fingers brushed over the golden markings on the back of Miao Lichen’s hand. They felt no different than ordinary skin, yet looked entirely unlike before. Just as Miao Lichen, now radiating dignity as the Spirit Emperor, remained fundamentally unchanged in her eyes.
She was only an ordinary woman, someone without lofty ideals of saving the world or protecting all living beings. Miao Lichen was a spirit. Perhaps to human cultivators he represented an impending catastrophe, but as long as he remained alive, nothing else truly mattered to her. Whether he was the Spirit Emperor or merely a cultivator had never been important.
At first, she had been confused by how completely the plot had gone off the rails, but now things were not so bad. Miao Lichen had taken Feng Yingruo’s place as Spirit Emperor, ensuring his safety. Although Jiang Lingwen, the protagonist, still posed a threat, if the two truly clashed, it was difficult to say who would dominate whom. A smile unconsciously spread across Bai Yingqi’s lips. As expected of the child she had raised. He was capable of making the eternally dominant protagonist reveal what he looked like as the bottom.
“The Spirit Realm isn’t particularly friendly toward human cultivators. While no one would dare harm you with me here, some things are beyond even my control.” He could prevent every spirit from laying a hand on Bai Yingqi, but he could not silence gossip. They would never dare speak openly before her, but talking behind her back was certainly not a privilege reserved for humans.
“A’chen, don’t think I’m so fragile. If mere rumors were enough to break me, I never would have survived to this age.” Had her spirit truly been so weak, she would have long ago been devoured without a trace by the ghosts wandering the mortal world, let alone met Miao Lichen. Of course, she could never reveal any of that. Even the most important person deserved to have their own secrets. Bai Yingqi, the original owner of this body, had indeed been an innocent young girl sheltered from hardship. But she was not that girl, nor did she want Miao Lichen to ever confuse the two.
“I’ve never thought you were weak, Qiqi. After all, you’re the one who saved me…” Miao Lichen withdrew his hand from her shoulder, the golden markings disappearing beneath the red sleeve. As he turned away, his robes billowed like red clouds, carrying with them an irresistible allure.
Yet Bai Yingqi caught sight of the faint blush creeping over his pale ears. ‘Heh… Although Chenchen always acted so mature, he was still just a child, wasn’t he? A child who had never truly grown up.’
The moment Miao Lichen stepped out of Bai Yingqi’s cave, a man dressed in black silently appeared at his side, following half a step behind like his shadow. In truth, Hè Liancheng had always considered himself Miao Lichen’s shadow. The Scarlet Serpent Tribe existed as the blade of the Phoenix Tribe, a blade that never left its Master’s side. It was a belief engraved into him from birth, one he had never forgotten.
“Hè Liancheng, Miao Lichen will never forget the debt he owes you. If the opportunity arises, I will fulfill every one of your dreams.” Miao Lichen paused briefly before continuing forward. His voice seemed to drift away with the wind, yet every word engraved itself deeply into Hè Liancheng’s heart. Hè Liancheng stiffened as he stared at the red figure before him. A faint blush appeared on Hè Liancheng’s youthful face, though it vanished just as quickly beneath his usual expressionless mask.
“I am Your Majesty’s blade. Everything I have done is only my duty and requires no repayment. My only lifelong wish is for the glory of the Phoenix Tribe to shine across the entire continent and restore the former might of the Spirit Clan.”
“I shall make it so.” A faint smile curved Miao Lichen’s lips. The golden patterns upon his hand shimmered softly as flames seemed to envelop his body. Behind him, the vague outline of a phoenix emerged. Its cry echoed through the air as its magnificent figure soared alongside the rising sun, resembling the morning glow, yet far more vivid and dazzling.

The weaker cultivators who heard that phoenix’s cry immediately coughed up blood. Some even had their breakthroughs interrupted, leaving them unable to advance further. The cry of a phoenix had not been heard for a thousand years. Now that it had returned to the world, no one could tell whether it heralded fortune or disaster.
Jiang Lingwen gently stroked the red silk still wrapped around his wrist. Although he had already suspected the truth, seeing the truth laid bare before him only made his heart stir even more. The Phoenix Tribe’s flames granted rebirth through Nirvana. According to legend, no tribe possessed greater regenerative abilities.
He wondered whether the marks he left upon that body would disappear just as easily. But Miao Lichen did not seem willing to let him achieve his goal. Beneath that cold exterior lay an undisguised pride, while those faintly curved lips always seemed more interested in taming others.
Jiang Lingwen suddenly stiffened before covering his mouth with a quiet laugh. Without his usual carefully maintained façade, his brows and eyes radiated an enchanting charm that seemed capable of luring anyone into depravity. He had truly reached a ridiculous point. This body, which had always found satisfaction only through emotional pleasure, had become aroused simply by imagining another man. Glancing at the unmistakable bulge concealed beneath his blue robes, he realized that for the first time, physical desire had surpassed his fascination with domination. He was more determined than ever to possess Miao Lichen. He wanted to know exactly what expression the proud Spirit Emperor would wear when pinned beneath a human.

“A’wen…” A soft voice whispered beside Jiang Lingwen’s ear. Kong Xuan emerged from thin air. The moment he saw Jiang Lingwen, his eyes filled with hazy desire. As though recalling something, he immediately threw himself into Jiang Lingwen’s arms. Feng Yingruo had now become the Spirit Emperor. No one could stop him from coming to Jiang Lingwen anymore. Heaven knew how much restraint these past few days had demanded. If he had never experienced such overwhelming pleasure, perhaps he could have endured. But once someone had tasted it, how could they ever forget?
What greeted him was Jiang Lingwen’s flying sword, utterly devoid of mercy. After recognizing Kong Xuan, the blade barely shifted its course, yet it still carved a deep wound across his chest. Kong Xuan let out an involuntary cry, but instead of pain, his voice was filled with intoxicating seduction. Amid flashing blades and sword light, only his flushed face and Jiang Lingwen’s increasingly impatient expression could vaguely be seen.
A long while later, Kong Xuan no longer possessed the strength to move even a finger. The slightest movement reopened his wounds, causing fresh blood to flow. Jiang Lingwen simply stepped over him. For the first time, he made no effort to carefully treat his partner’s injuries after their session. Instead, he left Kong Xuan lying carelessly upon the floor. For a Dom who had always taken great pride in his professional standards, such behavior was exceptionally rare.
His flying sword was tossed casually toward the doorway, striking the ground with a crisp clang. A faint sigh drifted through the room. “Miao Lichen…”
If one day a Dom could no longer derive pleasure from another person, what would that mean?
