Chapter 98: Xuanhuan Cultivation BL (XIV)

Leaving his room, Jiang Lingwen gazed into the distance. As a cultivation sect, the Heavenly Sword Sect always possessed a dreamlike quality unlike anything in the mortal world, yet no one had ever fascinated him so deeply except Miao Lichen. Jiang Lingwen pressed his lips against the red silk tied around his wrist. Faintly, he could almost feel the sensation of another’s hair brushing across his lips, and an enchanting smile on his own. Even the Sword Heart within his body seemed to sense its Master’s excitement. Its aura flashed briefly, and the cultivation that had long been trapped at the Fusion stage advanced another step.

Beyond the Fusion stage lay the Tribulation stage. Upon reaching the peak of the Tribulation stage, one would face the Heavenly Tribulation. If it were successfully overcome, one’s spiritual energy would gradually transform into immortal essence, marking the Mahayana stage. Once every trace of spiritual energy had been completely converted into immortal essence, ascension to immortality would naturally follow. It sounded deceptively simple, yet throughout history countless geniuses had perished beneath the Heavenly Tribulation. Besides… Jiang Lingwen now found the mortal world far more interesting than the Immortal Realm. Or rather, his interest in one particular person had already surpassed his desire for immortality.

A suddenly appearing aura drew his attention back toward his residence, and he frowned slightly. Seers truly were troublesome. More importantly, this so-called seer was not even human, but a spirit. Had he been human, Jiang Lingwen might have continued to ignore him. But as a spirit, he would have to extend him a measure of courtesy. After all, the person who now occupied all of his attention was the Nirvana Phoenix acknowledged throughout the world, the ruler of the Spirit Realm.

His figure flickered, and in an instant he arrived outside his residence. The moment he pushed open the door, the smell of blood rushed toward him. The person who had been lying on the floor had reverted into a peacock with brilliantly colored feathers. Perhaps because of his grievous injuries, the feathers had lost their luster, appearing dull and lifeless, utterly lacking the magnificence peacocks were famed for. Even his once-bright eyes were clouded over as though veiled in mist, giving the impression that he did not have much time left.

Taking several medicinal pills from his storage ring, Jiang Lingwen fed them to Kong Xuan and watched as the wounds visibly healed. It seemed he truly had gone too far this time. Under normal circumstances, even an ordinary human would have survived his abuse with at least a breath left. Yet this time, he had nearly killed a spirit whose physique was naturally far stronger than that of humans. Most likely, he had unconsciously infused spiritual energy into his attacks.

Watching the peacock in his arms return to human form, Jiang Lingwen saw that Kong Xuan’s ordinary clothing could no longer conceal his body. His smooth skin peeked through the torn fabric, making him appear even more alluring than usual. Yet it stirred nothing within Jiang Lingwen. Jiang Lingwen lifted Kong Xuan’s chin and studied his exquisite features. Every one of his facial features could be described as flawless. Though Kong Xuan’s beauty differed entirely from Miao Lichen’s, it was in no way inferior. Unfortunately, it still failed to make his heart skip a beat.

Instead, it only made him long even more for the body he had barely brushed against. Miao Lichen’s body might not possess Kong Xuan’s softness, yet he was convinced it would offer the most intoxicating sensation imaginable. That was likely the difference between caring for someone and feeling nothing at all. The emotions within his heart, along with the physical desire that had already begun to cloud his reason…

“A’wen.” Kong Xuan awoke just in time to witness this expression on Jiang Lingwen’s face. The thoughtful look carried a trace of tenderness rarely seen upon him. Though faint, for Jiang Lingwen it was already an extraordinary display. He had always been a Dom who pursued only pleasure, never emotional attachment. A smile spread across Kong Xuan’s still-pale lips, and triumph flashed through his eyes. He knew it. Only he was truly suited to Jiang Lingwen, and only Jiang Lingwen suited him.

Even before they had ever met, merely knowing him through words had already captivated him. Now that Jiang Lingwen stood within his reach, Kong Xuan was willing to sacrifice everything to obtain him. That was why he had entered the Heavenly Sword Sect without hesitation. Though only a second-rate sect, it concealed an enormous secret.

“Since you’re awake, leave. If you’re not human, don’t linger in the human world.” The instant Jiang Lingwen heard his voice, every trace of genuine tenderness vanished. Though the smile remained on his handsome face, it now carried a chill that kept others at a distance.

“You’re driving me away? Since I’ve acknowledged you as my Master, I won’t leave. I’m a spirit. Humans have ways of forming contracts, don’t they? Why don’t we make one?” Kong Xuan’s earlier disappointment quickly disappeared upon hearing Jiang Lingwen’s cold tone, replaced once more by smug satisfaction. A Dom’s concern had always taken a unique form. Perhaps because he had never experienced love before, a hint of shyness appeared in his bright eyes, lending him an irresistible charm.

“A contract? I have no interest in keeping an ornamental pet. Though you keep claiming to be a seer, it seems the only things you know concern me. Can someone like that truly be called a seer?” Jiang Lingwen withdrew the arm supporting Kong Xuan and stood beside him, looking down at the seemingly fragile youth. The seductive gleam in those fox-like eyes was nothing short of revolting.

Jiang Lingwen himself nearly felt the urge to rub his forehead. The old him would never have been disgusted by such behavior, even if he had not been pleased by it. A Dom was supposed to remain completely indifferent to the emotions of those they disciplined. If someone interested him, he would continue. If he lost interest, he would simply abandon them. What did another person’s love or hatred have to do with him? Yet now he genuinely felt disgust. And this was not the first time. He had once felt the same revulsion toward Feng Yingruo. So… had he been changing for far longer than he realized?

“That’s not true. I know many things about the world. I know that the Feng Family are actually descendants of the ancient divine beast, the Phoenix, and that one of this generation has awakened as the Phoenix’s Child and will become the Spirit Emperor. I know the next Sect Master of the Heavenly Sword Sect will be a woman. And I also know that your sect will produce a Demon King.” Ignoring the weakness in his body, Kong Xuan wrapped his arms around Jiang Lingwen’s leg and gazed up at him dreamily. “None of those things concern you, do they?”

“Then… let me ask you something. Do you know the Spirit Emperor’s name?” Jiang Lingwen crouched down until he was level with Kong Xuan. A slight smile curved his lips, carrying an unmistakably sinister edge.

“Feng Yingruo. The Spirit Emperor is Feng Yingruo. So you don’t need to worry about the Spirit Emperor targeting you. The only one you need to watch out for is the Demon King who is about to appear.” Kong Xuan had not forgotten that, because of his own interference, Yan Yangxi had never developed the tangled feelings of love and hatred toward Jiang Lingwen. Even so, he doubted Yan Yangxi would harbor any goodwill toward him, so caution was still necessary.

Even without becoming entangled with Jiang Lingwen, Kong Xuan remained convinced that Yan Yangxi would eventually become the Demon King. As for why… naturally it was because of his Heavenly Demon Physique. With such a constitution, how could he possibly avoid cultivating the demonic path? Cultivating immortality might never bring remarkable achievements, but demonic cultivation could propel him to greatness overnight. Furthermore, hidden within the Heavenly Sword Sect’s forbidden land was an imprisoned demonic immortal who had remained sealed away for countless years, someone capable of allowing Yan Yangxi to completely abandon his identity as a cultivator.

“Heh… Kong Xuan, you’re truly… naive.” Jiang Lingwen kicked Kong Xuan away from his side. Regardless of where he had learned those so-called prophecies, he had lost all value. Jiang Lingwen had long wondered why Kong Xuan had acted the way he did inside the secret realm if he truly knew Miao Lichen’s identity. By doing so, he had offended the future Spirit Emperor, even jeopardizing his own tribe. As expected, he was no seer, or at least not one capable of making accurate predictions. In that case, what use was he?

“I won’t reveal this information to anyone else. I’ll only tell you. If being a seer isn’t enough to make me worth keeping by your side, then what about a seer who serves only you?” Kong Xuan hurriedly assured him. “I came to this world only for you, so I’ll use my abilities only for your sake.”

“I don’t know whether the rest of your information is true or false, but there’s no need to verify it anymore. Feng Yingruo died beneath my sword before the Spirit Emperor ever appeared. How could he possibly seize A’chen’s throne?” Jiang Lingwen smiled proudly. “Besides, I, Jiang Lingwen, have never relied on anyone else’s strength. Whatever I want and whatever I choose to do, I accomplish with my own hands. What use is a dog that doesn’t even understand its Master?”

“How… How could it be Miao Lichen? Doesn’t his surname mean he’s not from the Feng Family? How could he possibly be one of them?” Kong Xuan stared blankly, clearly unable to accept what had happened. He had never imagined anyone would actually derail the plot. After all, even transmigrators preferred to keep everything under their own control. “Then what about Yan Yangxi? He’s already fallen into demonic cultivation, hasn’t he? He must have fallen into it, right?”

“I don’t see why I must become a demonic cultivator.” Yan Yangxi pushed open Jiang Lingwen’s door. His gaze swept over Kong Xuan before he spoke in the same icy tone as always. Though he did not sound angry, every word carried undeniable sharpness. “The spirit energy emanating from the little fellow in your room has already disturbed Master.”

“Then please inform the Sect Master that I’ll personally deal with this little fellow. There’s no need for him to trouble himself.” Jiang Lingwen’s fingers brushed the red silk hidden within his sleeve. “I assume Nephew Yan also has no wish to create conflict with the Spirit Realm.”

“Give my regards to A’chen and Qiqi. One day, I’ll visit the Spirit Realm in person.” Yan Yangxi’s voice softened slightly. His eyes briefly fell upon the bloodstains covering the floor, and he frowned. “I hope that by the time I arrive in the Spirit Realm, this little fellow won’t have become a corpse. He may be annoying, deciding his fate shouldn’t be your prerogative.”

“Nephew Yan seems to concern himself with too many things. A’chen is my disciple. Even if I killed him here, A’chen wouldn’t blame me. And tell me, when you say ‘give my regards,’ are they meant for A’chen… or for your little junior sister?” Jiang Lingwen’s eyes settled upon the object hidden inside Yan Yangxi’s sleeve. That jade pendant naturally escaped neither his notice nor his understanding. Seeing Yan Yangxi make gestures so similar to his own stirred a violent impulse within him. Unlike the bloodlust that usually accompanied his desire to discipline someone, this was a simple, unadulterated urge to kill.

Yan Yangxi’s pupils contracted slightly before he turned away as though nothing had happened. “They’re both people I care about. To me, there’s no difference.”

No difference? It had better truly be no difference. Jiang Lingwen seized Kong Xuan by the collar and stepped onto his flying sword. Hearing the sword cut through the air, Yan Yangxi instinctively looked up. All he perceived was the sound of the sword slicing through the sky. He could not even glimpse his figure. The overwhelming gap in strength made him clench his fists involuntarily.
