Chapter 47: Chapter 47: The Blink Skill [Bonus]
The man groaned. He pushed himself up, his hand pressed against his jaw. His eyes were unfocused. Blinking. Confused.
Then he remembered.
The level two. The kick. The counting. The weird perverted speech about ropes and role play.
His eyes snapped to Daniel. He flinched. Then he straightened up, forcing himself to look professional.
"Yes," he said. "You pass."
Daniel smiled. "Good."
The man turned to Lyra. "The other girl can start her test now."
Daniel held up a hand. "The agreement was we. Not me. We."
The man blinked. "What?"
"We pass together. Or not at all."
The man opened his mouth. Closed it. He looked at Lyra. Then at Daniel. Then at the unconscious... wait, he wasn’t unconscious anymore. He was just sitting on the floor, trying to look dignified.
"That’s not how it works," the man said.
"That’s how it works today."
The man wanted to argue. He really did. But his body hurt. His jaw throbbed. His stomach ached. And the memory of Daniel’s kick was still fresh in his mind.
"Fine," he muttered. "You both pass."
Daniel nodded. "Thank you."
The man pushed himself to his feet. He walked toward the door, limping slightly.
"Wait here," he said. "I’ll be back soon."
He left.
Daniel stood in the middle of the room. He was trying to remember something. Something important. Something he had forgotten.
He started hitting his head with his palm. Gently at first. Then harder.
"What are you doing?" Lyra asked.
Daniel ignored her.
"Master?" Fluffy said. "Is Master okay?"
Daniel ignored her too.
He knew he had forgotten something. Something about the quest. Something about the reward.
Then it hit him.
Quest.
He mentally said the word. A screen appeared in front of his face.
[Quest Complete: Reach Level 2]
[Reward: Gunslinger Class Skill - Blink]
[Claim Reward?]
[Yes / No]
Daniel pressed Yes.
[Skill Acquired: Blink]
[Blink - Active: Teleport to a location you can see. Instantaneous. Cost: 10 MP. Cooldown: None.]
Daniel read the description. His eyes widened. Teleportation. Instant teleportation. That was incredible.
Then another notification appeared.
[Would you like your harem member Lyra of the Prick Family to learn this skill?]
[Yes / No]
Daniel was about to press Yes when he felt a hand on his face.
"YOU’RE DOING THAT THING AGAIN!"
He looked up. Lyra was standing in front of him. Her hand was on his cheek. Her face was inches from his. She was furious.
"Sorry," Daniel said quickly. "I was checking my quest."
"Your quest?"
"Yeah. The one to reach level two. I completed it. I got a reward."
Lyra’s anger faded. Curiosity took over. "What reward?"
"A skill. It’s called Blink. It lets me teleport to any location I can see. Instantaneous."
Lyra’s eyes widened. "Teleport?"
"Yeah."
"That’s... that’s amazing."
Daniel nodded. "And the system is asking if I want you to learn it too."
Lyra’s face lit up. "Really?"
"Really."
"Then do it!"
Daniel pressed Yes.
[Skill Transferred: Blink]
[Lyra of the Prick Family has learned Blink.]
Lyra gasped. She looked at her hands. Then at the room around her. Then at a spot across the room.
"I can feel it," she whispered. "The skill. It’s there."
"Try it," Daniel said.
Lyra focused. Then she disappeared.
One moment she was standing next to Daniel. The next, she was across the room. She reappeared near the wall, her feet landing softly on the sand.
She turned around. Her face was split by a huge grin.
"I did it!" she shouted. "I teleported!"
Daniel smiled. "Good job."
Fluffy’s eyes were wide. Her ears were standing straight up.
"Pretty lady disappeared," she whispered. "Then came back."
Lyra laughed. She focused again and teleported back to Daniel’s side.
"That’s amazing," she said. "I can’t believe I can do that."
Daniel nodded. "It costs mana though. Ten points per use. So don’t spam it."
Lyra nodded. "Got it."
The door opened. The man walked back in. He was holding a piece of paper. A slip. He handed it to Daniel.
"Here," he said. "Place a drop of blood on it."
Daniel looked at the slip. Then at the man. Then at Lyra.
"Is this normal?" he asked.
Lyra nodded. "It’s for registration. The blood binds you to the guild. It’s how they keep track of members."
Daniel nodded. He bit his thumb. A small drop of blood welled up. He pressed it onto the slip.
The slip glowed. Then text appeared on its surface.
[Name: Daniel Black]
[Rank: F]
[Contribution Points: 0]
Lyra did the same. Her slip glowed.
[Name: Lyra of the Prick Family]
[Rank: F]
[Contribution Points: 0]
The man handed them their slips.
"Show these to the guild guards," he said. "They’ll let you in."
Daniel frowned. "Aren’t we in the guild already?"
Lyra shook her head. "This is just a registration center. The actual guild is outside the city. That’s where members live. That’s where we take missions."
Daniel nodded slowly. "So it’s like a sect."
Lyra raised an eyebrow. "A what?"
"A sect. From cultivation novel’s. It’s like... a group. A community. You live together. Train together. Take missions together."
Lyra sighed. "Let me guess. A thing from your world."
Daniel grinned. "Yeah."
He turned to the man. "Where’s the guild located?"
The man pointed toward the window. "Outside the city. East gate. It’s about a thirty-minute walk. You can’t miss it."
Daniel nodded. He looked at Fluffy. "What about her?"
The man glanced at Fluffy. "Slaves are allowed. As long as they’re registered to you."
Daniel looked at his slip. At his rank. At his contribution points.
"F rank," he muttered. "Contribution points zero. This is going to take a while."
The man shrugged. "Everyone starts somewhere."
Daniel nodded. "Thanks."
The man gestured toward the door. "There’s a wagon outside. Free ride to the guild. For new members."
Daniel looked at Lyra. She looked at him. They both smiled.
"Let’s go," Daniel said.
They walked out of the room. Out of the registration center. Into the streets of Green Lake City.
A wagon was waiting for them. A simple cart with two horses and a bored-looking driver.
Daniel helped Lyra and Fluffy into the wagon. Then he climbed in himself.
The driver flicked the reins. The wagon started moving.
Daniel looked at his slip one more time.

[Contribution Points: 0]
He smiled. "F rank. Everyone starts somewhere."
