Chapter 72: Regenerate

Chapter 72: Chapter 72: Regenerate

The man stood there.

His body was broken. His robes were destroyed. His hood was gone. But he was still standing. Still smiling.

Then he revealed his face.

He was an elf. Tall. Lean. His ears were long and pointed. His hair was silver. His eyes were green. His face was sharp. Angular. Cruel.

He smiled. A thin, cold smile.

"It... Was... Fun... Playing... With... You..." he said.

Elara stared at him. Her body was broken. Her aura was gone. She could barely stand. But she didn’t look away.

"Fun?" she repeated.

The elf nodded. "Yes. Fun."

Then he spoke again.

"Regenerate."

His body glowed. A soft green light surrounded him. His wounds closed. His bones snapped back into place. His skin knitted together. His robes reformed. His hood reappeared.

Within seconds, he was healed. Completely. Perfectly. As if he had never been injured.

Elara’s eyes widened. Her mouth fell open.

"What..." she whispered.

The elf smiled. "Now... You... Die..."

He raised his hand. Wind gathered in his palm. It spun. It compressed. It formed a spear. A spear of purple wind. It crackled with power.

He aimed it at her heart.

"You... Fought... Well..." he said. "But... This... Is... The... End..."

He thrust the spear forward.

Then a shout echoed through the destruction.

"ME AND THE BOYS HAS ARRIVED!"

The elf turned.

Brutus was there.

His fist was already moving. It was covered in mana. Blue energy crackled around his knuckles. His muscles were bulging. His eyes were blazing.

The punch connected with the elf’s face.

The impact was thunderous. A shockwave tore through the air. The elf flew backward. He crashed through walls. He crashed through buildings. He disappeared into the distance.

Brutus stood there. His fist was still extended. His muscles were still flexed.

He looked at Elara. He smiled.

"Good job, kid," he said. "You did well."

Elara stared at him. Her mouth was open. Her eyes were wide.

"We are almost the same age," she said. "Don’t call me that."

Brutus shrugged. "You’ll always be a kid to me."

Elara sighed. She didn’t have the energy to argue.

Brutus looked around. At the destruction. At the rubble. At the crumbling buildings.

"Go evacuate everyone in the guild," he said. "Things are about to get messy."

Elara nodded. She turned. She started walking. Then she stopped. She looked back at him.

"Be careful," she said.

Brutus grinned. "Always."

Elara left.

---

The elf stood up.

He was far away. Across the guild grounds. Near the edge of the forest. But he stood up.

His face was bruised. His body was broken. But he was standing.

He looked at Brutus. His eyes were cold. Calculating.

"Copy," he said.

Nothing happened.

He frowned. "Copy."

Nothing.

He stared at Brutus. His head tilted.

"What... Are... You... Doing..." Brutus asked.

The elf didn’t answer. He just kept staring.

"Copy," he said again.

Brutus laughed. A loud, booming laugh.

"You’re trying to copy my talent?" he asked.

The elf nodded. "Yes."

Brutus laughed harder. "You can’t copy my talent."

The elf frowned. "Why... Not..."

"Because I don’t have one."

The elf stared at him. His eyes widened.

"What?"

"I don’t have a talent. I’m a null. A fucking null."

The elf was silent. Then he laughed. A cold, mocking laugh.

"A... Null..." he said. "You... Are... Weak..."

Brutus shook his head. "No. I’m not."

"You... Have... No... Talent... You... Are... Nothing..."

Brutus stepped forward. His muscles rippled. His aura blazed.

"I don’t need a talent," he said. "I have my boys."

The elf tilted his head. "Your... Boys..."

Brutus flexed. His muscles bulged. His veins popped.

"My muscles," he said. "My body. My strength. I’ve trained for years. I’ve pushed myself beyond my limits. I’ve become something more."

The elf laughed. "Muscles... Are... Nothing... Without... Talent..."

Brutus shook his head. "You’re wrong. Talent is a gift. A shortcut. But it’s not the only way."

He stepped closer. His footsteps cracked the ground.

"I have a gift too. But it’s not a talent. It’s mana control."

The elf frowned. "Mana... Control..."

"Yes. I can control mana better than anyone. I can enhance my body. My strength. My speed. My durability. I can do things that talented people can’t."

The elf laughed again. "A... Talentless... Person... Is... A... Weak... Person..."

He raised his hand. Wind gathered in his palm. A spear formed. Purple. Crackling. Deadly.

He threw it.

The spear shot toward Brutus. It was fast. It was powerful. It was going to hit.

Brutus didn’t move.

He just smiled.

The spear reached him. He raised his hand. He caught it.

He redirected it. Casually. Effortlessly. The spear flew past him. It hit a building. The building exploded.

The elf stared. His mouth fell open.

"How..." he whispered.

Brutus flexed. "The power of my boys."

The elf’s face twisted with rage. He charged.

---

The fight began.

The elf was fast. He was talented. His wind was powerful. His regeneration was instant.

Brutus was strong. He was skilled. His mana control was perfect. His body was a weapon.

They clashed.

The elf threw a punch. Brutus blocked. The elf kicked. Brutus dodged. The elf summoned a wind blade. Brutus caught it. He crushed it.

The elf created a tornado. Brutus punched through it. The elf created a vacuum. Brutus held his breath. The elf created a storm. Brutus stood in the center. Unmoved.

The elf was frustrated. His attacks weren’t working. His talent wasn’t enough.

He charged again. He threw everything he had. Wind blades. Wind spears. Wind storms.

Brutus took it all. He blocked. He dodged. He countered.

Then Brutus attacked.

He punched the elf in the chest. The impact was thunderous. The elf flew backward. He crashed through trees. He crashed through rocks. He crashed through everything.

He stood up. His chest was caved in. But he regenerated. His bones snapped back. His flesh healed.

"Regenerate," he said.

Brutus appeared in front of him. Another punch. The elf’s head snapped back. He flew. He crashed.

He stood up. He regenerated.

"Regenerate," he said.

Brutus appeared again. Another punch. The elf’s arm snapped. It hung uselessly at his side.

"Regenerate," the elf said.

His arm healed. He raised it. He threw a punch. Brutus caught it. He squeezed. The elf’s hand crumbled.

"Regenerate," the elf said.

His hand healed.

Brutus grabbed his arm. He twisted. He pulled. The elf’s arm tore off.

The elf screamed. Blood sprayed. He stumbled back.

"Regenerate," he gasped.

His arm grew back. New. Whole. Perfect.

Brutus stared at him. His eyes narrowed.

"You can regenerate," he said. "But can you do it forever?"

The elf smiled. A bloody, broken smile.

"I... Can... Do... It... As... Long... As... I... Have... Mana..." he said.

Brutus nodded. "Then I’ll just have to exhaust your mana."

He attacked again.

---

The fight continued.

Brutus punched. The elf regenerated. Brutus kicked. The elf regenerated. Brutus crushed. The elf regenerated.

The elf tried everything. Wind blades. Wind spears. Wind storms. Vacuum. Tornado. Hurricane.

Brutus took it all. He redirected the wind. He absorbed the mana. He stood firm.

The elf was tiring. His regeneration was slowing. His mana was draining.

Brutus saw it. He smiled.

"Getting tired?" he asked.

The elf didn’t answer. He just charged.

Brutus punched him. The elf flew. He crashed. He stood up. He regenerated.

But slower this time.

Brutus punched him again. The elf flew. He crashed. He stood up. He regenerated.

Even slower.

Brutus punched him again. And again. And again.

The elf kept regenerating. But each time was slower. Each time was weaker.

Finally, the elf stayed down. He was breathing hard. His body was broken. His mana was almost gone.

"Regenerate," he whispered.

Nothing happened.

He tried again. "Regenerate."

Nothing.

He looked at Brutus. His eyes were wide. Scared.

"What... Did... You... Do..." he asked.

Brutus smiled. "I exhausted your mana. You can’t regenerate anymore."

The elf stared at him. His face twisted with rage. With fear. With despair.

"No..." he whispered. "No... No... No..."

Brutus stepped forward. His fist was raised. His mana was blazing.

"Now," he said. "Let’s finish this."

---

Meanwhile, back at Daniel’s side.

Daniel punched the handsome man one last time.

The man flew backward. He crashed into a wall. He slumped to the ground. He didn’t get up.

Daniel stood there. His chest was heaving. His fists were bloody. His body was bruised.

He had won.

He turned. He started walking. He needed to find Lyra. Fluffy. The others.

Then he heard a sound.

Footsteps.

He turned.

The handsome man was standing up.

His face was revealed. He was an elf. Tall. Handsome. Silver hair. Green eyes.

And he was healed.

All his injuries were gone. His bruises. His cuts. His broken bones. Everything.

He smiled. A cold, confident smile.

"Where do you think you’re going?" he asked.

Daniel stared at him. His eyes widened.

The elf stepped forward. His aura blazed.

"I brought you here," he said, "so we can have some fun."
