Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Fists and Fury
Bob stood up.
His body was whole. His wounds were gone. His eyes were glowing red. His smile was wide and cruel.
He pointed at Daniel.
"You," he said. "I challenge you."
Daniel raised an eyebrow. "Challenge me?"
"Hand to hand combat. No shadows. No monsters. Just fists and feet."
Daniel tilted his head. He looked at Bob. At his glowing eyes. At his confident posture. At his regenerated body.
"Just fists and feet," Daniel repeated.
"Yes."
"No tricks?"
"No tricks."
Daniel smiled. A cold, dangerous smile.
"Alright," he said. "I accept."
He switched classes.
[Class Change: Harem Overlord]
Power surged through him. His stats multiplied. His strength. His speed. His intelligence. Everything increased tenfold.
He cracked his knuckles. He rolled his shoulders. He settled into a fighting stance.
Bob did the same. He raised his fists. He planted his feet. He prepared.
They faced each other. Two warriors. Two monsters. Two forces of nature.
The street was silent. The shadows were still. The monsters had stopped fighting. They watched. They waited.
Daniel moved first.
He charged. His fist was raised. His speed was incredible. He crossed the distance in an instant.
Bob saw him coming. He tried to block. He was too slow.
Daniel’s fist connected with Bob’s face. The impact was thunderous. Bob’s head snapped back. He stumbled. He caught himself.
Daniel didn’t stop. He punched again. And again. And again. Each blow landed with the force of a battering ram. Each blow sent Bob staggering. Each blow broke bones and shattered teeth.
Bob tried to fight back. He threw a punch. Daniel dodged. He kicked. Daniel blocked. He tried to grapple. Daniel broke free.
Daniel was faster. Stronger. Better.
He punched Bob in the stomach. Bob doubled over. He gasped. He choked.
Daniel grabbed him by the hair. He pulled him up. He headbutted him. Bob’s nose shattered. Blood sprayed.
Daniel threw him. Bob flew across the street. He crashed through a wall. He disappeared into the rubble.
Daniel waited.
Bob stood up.
His nose was healed. His bones were fixed. His body was whole.
"Regenerate," he said.
He charged.
Daniel met him in the middle.
They clashed. Fist against fist. Feet against feet. Power against power.
Bob was fast. Faster than before. His regeneration was instant. His stamina was endless.
But Daniel was still faster. Still stronger. Still better.
He dodged Bob’s attacks. He countered. He struck. He broke.
Bob’s arm snapped. He regenerated.
Daniel kicked his knee. It buckled. He regenerated.
Daniel punched his chest. His ribs cracked. He regenerated.
No matter how much Daniel broke him, Bob kept coming back. His body healed. His bones fixed. His wounds closed.
"You can’t win," Bob said. "I can regenerate forever."
Daniel smiled. "Can you?"
Bob frowned. "What?"
Daniel punched him again. Bob flew. He crashed. He regenerated.
Daniel watched him. His eyes were calm. Calculating.
He knew what was happening. Bob was using life force to regenerate. The crystal had converted his life into mana. Every time he regenerated, he used more mana. Every time he used more mana, he burned more life.
Bob was dying. Slowly. Surely.
Daniel just had to keep breaking him. Keep hurting him. Keep forcing him to regenerate. Until his life force ran out. Until his mana was gone. Until he couldn’t heal anymore.
Daniel smiled.
"Let’s see how long you can keep this up," he said.
He charged again.
---
The fight continued.
Daniel broke Bob’s arm. He regenerated.
Daniel crushed Bob’s leg. He regenerated.
Daniel shattered Bob’s ribs. He regenerated.
Each time, Bob came back. Each time, he was slower. Weaker. More tired.
Each time, Daniel mocked him.
"That all you got?"
"Getting tired?"
"You should have apologized."
Bob screamed. He charged. He threw everything he had. His fists. His feet. His rage.
Daniel took it all. He blocked. He dodged. He countered.
"You’re slowing down," Daniel said.
"I’m not!"
"You are. I can see it."
"I’m not!"
Daniel punched him in the face. Bob flew. He crashed. He regenerated.
But slower this time.
Daniel laughed. "See? Slower."
Bob stood up. His eyes were wild. His breath was ragged.
"You... you can’t..."
"I can. And I will."
Daniel charged.

POV Switch: Brutus
Brutus was on his knees.
His body was broken. His muscles were torn. His bones were cracked. Blood poured from a dozen wounds. His breath came in ragged gasps.
The elf stood in front of him. His wind spear was ready. It pointed at Brutus’s heart.
"You fought well," the elf said. "For a null."
Brutus smiled. A weak, tired smile.
"Thanks," he said.
"But it’s over now. You can’t win."
"I know."
The elf raised the spear. He prepared to strike.
Brutus looked at him. At his cold eyes. At his cruel smile. At his unstoppable power.
"You know," Brutus said, "at least everyone in the guild is safe now."
The elf frowned. "What?"
"Elara evacuated them. The people in the city. The members of the guild. They’re all safe."
The elf’s eyes narrowed. "You’re about to die. And you’re worried about them?"
Brutus nodded. "Yeah."
"Why?"
Brutus smiled. "Because that’s what a vice leader does. He protects his people."
The elf stared at him. His expression was unreadable.
"You’re a fool," he said.
"Maybe." Brutus coughed. Blood splattered on the ground. "But I’m a fool who did his job."
The elf raised the spear higher. "Any last words?"
Brutus looked at the sky. At the clouds. At the fading light.
"How did my life even come to this?" he muttered.
The elf tilted his head. "What?"
Brutus laughed. A quiet, pained laugh.
"Oh right," he said. "I remember."
