Volume 3, Chapter 69 – Elite Monster
“Sandi!”
Anran heard that name, a woman’s voice coming through the radio.
It had sounded from inside that guy’s collar when he leaped down.
“How’s the situation?” the woman’s voice on the other end continued.
At the same time, as Anran hopped backward, that man bent his knees slightly and lightly absorbed the impact of the fall.
Many pairs of eyes met.
Anran and the others all looked with slight surprise at Sandi, who had jumped down from upstairs.
A slash wound across his abdomen, a gunshot wound in his arm.
Yet his face was calm as still water.
He had just opened his mouth, seemingly about to say something in reply, when his gaze swiftly swept across Anran and the others. He narrowed his eyes slightly, and at last a trace of emotion appeared in them.
Sandi flicked his right hand, and another short blade suddenly appeared.
“Where is he?” a voice came from the second-floor window.
Then Feilian saw familiar faces.
They were all personnel belonging to Nine Songs.
“Kill him, now! He’s the deputy captain of Morningstar’s guard unit!”
At that shout, Feilian abruptly realized something, but Sandi had already closed in.
He was as fast as a pouncing leopard.
He lunged mercilessly at the prey blocking his path.
His body looked thin and weak, yet it erupted with indescribable force.
Several bullets fired from the second floor trailed behind him as the sharp blade drove straight for Feilian’s heart.
Sandi had no intention of continuing the fight. He had chosen Feilian, who stood at the very edge, as his breakthrough point.
Every sound from outside was transmitted through the radio without missing a word to Heloise on the other end. After a brief pause, Heloise immediately gave an order: “Since the mission has failed, withdraw at once.”
After that, the voice vanished completely.
“As you wish!”
Sandi gave a low shout.
“Clang!”
“Scrape!”
The blade jammed against the gun Feilian had raised to block, instantly throwing off a dazzling burst of sparks.
Even with only one hand, the force Sandi exerted drove Feilian back again and again.
But Anna and Chu Yuan, who were right beside them, had also reacted by then.
The two of them rushed in at once.
Anna’s horizontal slash forced the back-turned Sandi into a slightly awkward position.
In terms of close-combat ability, Anna was stronger than Feilian but weaker than Yajin. The only reason this was manageable was that Sandi was already injured.
“Get lost!” With a sweep of his right hand, Sandi forced Anna to dodge immediately, though a few strands of her hair were still cut off.
If the blade had been even a little closer, it would have been extremely dangerous.
Surrounded by three people, Sandi looked as though he were dancing on the edge of a blade.
Rеаⅾ οո КαtRеаԁіոɡСаfе
A dance that set the heart pounding.
A dance so dazzling it blurred the eyes.
His swift speed and bizarre footwork made it very difficult for the people upstairs and Li Zhuying to get a clear shot.
If they fired, they might very well hit their own people.
But if they relaxed the blockade, Sandi would probably vanish into the night in no time.
Only Anran, standing to one side, felt a storm surge in her heart.
Sandi had said only a few words, but that voice had already carved itself deep into Anran’s mind and matched the voice in her memory.
Together with the face described by Little Gold Tooth and Eudora.
It’s you, Colin’s murderer!
Anran’s eyes were like sharpened blades as they landed on Sandi’s back. Sandi seemed to sense it and spared Anran a glance.
Those eyes were filled with killing intent.
“Hahaha…”
Yet a madman would only become more excited because of that.
Scouting.
Name: Sandi [Elite]
Age: 24
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Level: 17
Main Class: ???
Sub Class: ???
Six Attributes: ???
Scouting did not reveal much useful information, but the blue word “Elite” behind his name still made Anran pause in surprise.
An elite monster!
He still did not qualify as a BOSS, but Anran had finally encountered an opponent stronger than those useless cannon-fodder grunts.
This guy’s strength was very likely beyond her imagination.
-1, -1, -1 still drifted above his head from time to time.
But given the thickness of an elite monster’s health bar, another hundred -1s probably would not be a problem.
An elite monster!
A sworn enemy!
Once those two things were weighed together, Anran could no longer remain calm.
She really wanted to solve the problem by throwing out a few High-Energy Explosives, but that would definitely invite punishment from Nine Songs.
A gun naturally would not do much either.
In that case…
Let’s compete in speed!
Her base Agility stat was currently 23.
Rеаd οո КαtRеаԁіոɡСafе
After Anran bent down and switched on her mechanical footgear, her Agility immediately surged to 37.
As for a melee weapon she could use, naturally it was the mechanical switchblade.
Sandi forced Feilian back with one slash.
He kept shifting his position to disrupt the others’ aim while also searching for a gap through which he could escape smoothly.
Another wound was added to his body, but Feilian and Chu Yuan were not doing much better either.
“Hah…”
Sandi let out a soft breath. His back arched slightly and his foot pressed against the ground as he prepared to charge straight into Feilian’s chest.
At that moment, his powerful instincts suddenly sent a chill through his heart.
A sharp wind-whistle pressed against his neck, as though it could tear him apart at any moment.
Sandi turned instinctively.
His right hand snapped out.
“Ping!”
To his surprise, Sandi saw that the girl from earlier had suddenly appeared behind him.
She had almost succeeded in her sneak attack.
But now that I’ve blocked this strike, next…
Just as Sandi was about to move, he saw a smile suddenly bloom across Anran’s face.
“You were still careless!”
Rip!
The spring mechanism turned.
The blade shot out at once.
That instant burst of speed was something even Sandi could not dodge in time.
It went straight for his face.
With force like that, it could absolutely pierce straight into Sandi’s skull.
Killing intent…
The summons of death…
Even fiercer than being surrounded by more than a dozen people.
Sandi forcibly retreated a step, but he was still too slow.
“Ah!”
The pain of his cheek being stabbed made even him let out a scream.
Blood instantly drenched half his face.
Having landed a hit, Anran pressed the advantage, both hands driving the blade forward again.
“Damn it, damn it, damn it. You’re all going to die.”
The gunshot wound in his left arm was still throbbing faintly, while the wound on his cheek made Sandi feel as though he had been viciously slapped across the face.
How could he possibly capsize here?
This was nothing but a bunch of trash mobs.

Crash!
With a shove of the blade in his right hand, Sandi forced Anran back, then immediately chased after her, disregarding his right eye that was gradually filling with blood as he attacked her in a frenzy.
So fast!
How could anyone react to speed like that?
Feilian, Anna, Chu Yuan, and Li Zhuying all froze.
If Anran could see his stats, then Sandi, in this state of total eruption, had an Agility as high as 51.
Too fast.
Even with her tactical goggles on,
Anran discovered that she could barely catch more than a shadow.
“Clang, clang, clang…”
After several successive blade exchanges, Anran realized she was following him only with great difficulty.
An enraged Sandi could actually be this strong.
Anran realized that her plan to take revenge here might very well fail.
If Sandi had not already been wounded, she would not have been able to hold on against this state for long at all.
In that case.
Mechanical footgear, second-stage burst.
Pressure chamber activated!
Hiss!
Agility +30, jumping power x4.
Her dynamic vision could not be improved, but the speed of her counterattacks was now fully able to keep up with her brain’s commands.
She had only about five minutes.
That might not sound short, but after fully bursting, the mechanical footgear was something Anran simply could not control smoothly. The strain on her body was far too great.
So in truth, she had less than one minute left.
Take the gamble. A bicycle becomes a motorcycle.
Within a small circle,
Anran and Sandi, trapped within it, both turned into shadows.
The black shadow and the white shadow separated the instant they met.
The sound of blades colliding rang out ceaselessly through the field, along with spurts of blood.
Arms, waist, abdomen, even thighs.
Anran gritted her teeth.
And her ankles too, which felt as though they were about to tear apart.
Aaaah!
The members of Nine Songs who had been aiming all widened their eyes and gave up that meaningless effort.
Esper!
The strength of an esper left these ordinary people speechless.
This was suppression from a higher order of life itself.
Rеαⅾ οո КαtRеαⅾіոgСαfe
They simply could not interfere in a battle of this level.
Feilian, Chu Yuan, and Anna were all stunned.
That person whose “money-grubbing image was deeply rooted in everyone’s mind” was actually this strong?
So a real expert had been hiding among them all along.
Feilian’s hands trembled with excitement.
The hope of revival!
Anran absolutely could not be allowed to die at Sandi’s hands.
But in a fight like this, they simply had no way to intervene.
If it were Li Zhuying… Feilian glanced at the equally astonished Li Zhuying.
So NPCs were already beginning to realize how useful Outlanders were.
“…”
In the midst of battle, Anran gradually began to falter. The pain made her mind clearer and clearer, but the burden on her body also caused her speed to drop.
Especially after trading blows, she discovered that her strength was far below Sandi’s. She held no advantage in any collision.
Sandi, however, was not in a favorable condition either.
At first, he had still been shouting like a maniac, words like “Die,” “One strike,” and “Two strikes.” After that, all that remained was the wheezing sound of harsh breathing.
There were more and more wounds on him.
Sandi knew he could not drag this out any longer. He did not know that Anran’s speed had a time limit, so he did not dare continue gambling.
The fury in his heart weakened slightly. Squeezing one eye shut and able to see only a blurry field of vision, he was cut by Anran once more.
Then his forward-leaning body suddenly flashed away, and in the astonished eyes of everyone present, he turned and shot into the night.
Anran did not chase.
She slowly retracted the mechanical switchblade, then pulled out her pistol and fired several shots in succession at the dark figure.
None of them hit the target.
Right after that, Anran’s legs suddenly went weak. She tried her utmost to support herself, yet could only crouch to the ground.
“I’ll leave your head on your shoulders for now,” Anran said.
“That’s exactly what I was thinking too.” Sandi’s cold voice drifted back, growing fainter and fainter.
“Anran! Are you okay?” Anna and the others immediately rushed over.
Anran had many small wounds on her body and looked a mess.
Only Li Zhuying suddenly froze. After seeing Anran’s side profile when she drew her gun and fired, if the hat on the ground were placed back on her head,
the scene instantly completed itself in Li Zhuying’s mind.
Anran clenched her fist. Her strength was still not enough.
Once she raised her level a bit more and made the exoskeleton armor, Sandi would no longer be her match.
He was only an elite monster. He could wash his neck and wait for death.
Elsewhere, after running a long distance, Sandi suddenly stopped and leaned against a tree. He coughed violently several times, then wiped the blood from his cheek with his hand.
“I almost died there. Just you wait!”
With a savage expression on his face, Sandi pressed the switch on his radio.
