Volume 3, Chapter 76 – An Unlucky Guy’s Number Complex
He had an unfriendly face, and his eyes were full of aggressive menace.
Setting his expression aside, a face like this was the most common kind in Aila’s database.
It was a face assembled from a lot of utterly ordinary features.
If she had to give it a charm score,
Aila would probably rate it around a 4 or 5.
It was nowhere near Anran’s level.
Although belittling an opponent would make Anran very happy, if Anran found out that Aila had compared her to someone this plain and unremarkable, she would probably cry.
Don’t just compare a man’s looks to a young girl’s on your own. The standards were completely different.
Ignoring that man’s gloomy stare, Aila nudged the 777 machine a little to the side and sat down on the little chair she usually used while minding the shop.
She was actually very non-confrontational, so long as no one came looking for trouble with her.
Still, just sitting there like this was really boring.
Aila recalled a device she had seen online called a tablet.
It could probably browse the web too.
Actually, a laptop would be nice as well.
But it was so expensive.
Aila thought about her little savings stash.
She had slowly built it up from the bits and pieces of allowance Anran gave her.
Right now, she only had a little over 500 Bilu. To buy a passable tablet, she would need more than 900 Bilu.
As expected, I’m poor.
Aila brooded over it gloomily.
Actually, she could have skimmed a little from Shop 777’s earnings, but because she did not want to deceive Anran, Aila kept herself under very strict control.
If she saved for a little more than a week, she should be able to buy one.
If she stopped eating snacks, three days would be enough.
But not eating snacks would be miserable.
Come to think of it, Aila had recently found a little shop nearby that sold metal, so she would go over there from time to time to buy things.
That was why she could never save up her allowance.
Why hadn’t today’s first customer arrived yet?

Aila lifted her head and looked around.
The street was cold and empty.
At this hour, someone should definitely have come by already.
If business dropped, her allowance would drop too.
Aila was extremely troubled.
And in the middle of that gloomy mood,
that man, that man named Sandi, walked over from across the road.
…
After being driven off by Anran, Sandi went back to meet Heloise.
Although Heloise did not say much, the casual little frown she made when she saw his battered body still filled Sandi with rage.
If it were not for that woman…
Sandi had his men investigate Anran.
Morningstar’s strength in Twinmoon City had already been greatly reduced, and they could no longer pull off anything big. Even so, finding out where Anran lived was not difficult.
So there was also a younger sister at home, around eleven or twelve years old.
An evil smile spread across Sandi’s face.
What he liked most was seeing the agonizing scene of an opponent’s loved ones being torn apart by life and death.
That was the greatest blow he could inflict on an opponent.
Sandi re-bandaged the wound on his arm and chuckled darkly.
Woman, I’m really looking forward to the expression you’ll make after seeing your little sister tortured to death.
Morningstar was about to withdraw from Twinmoon City.
Before that happened, Sandi intended to teach Anran a lesson.
…
Dressed in ordinary clothes, Sandi sauntered up to the entrance of Shop 777.
His gaze swept casually over the lit sign by the door.
So you let your little sister run a prize-draw shop.
Peace really is nice.
Hahaha. Now let me destroy all of it.

Sandi stepped over the threshold.
Aila stared at Sandi. She felt that his expression and the look in his eyes were really irritating, but since he was today’s first customer, she could not just chase him away for no reason.
So Aila stood up and said, “Hello. Are you here for the draw?”
A strange smile appeared at the corners of Sandi’s mouth. He reached into his pocket and lined up a row of large-denomination bills on the table.
“I’ll start with ten draws.”
At the sight of the money, Aila’s eyes lit up instantly.
“You can use either of these two 777s however you like, but you can’t go over the number of draws, or I’ll get angry.” With a sweep of her left hand, Aila collected the money into the drawer. What a big spender!
Keep smiling. Let’s see whether you can still smile in a little while.
Sandi snickered inwardly.
He decided to play with this cute little girl first. Destroying something beautiful like this made him tremble with excitement.
Sandi pulled the lever.
Whirr.
The 777 let out a sound.
“Number 155. The prize is a bullet,” Aila announced promptly.
“…”
Sandi pulled two levers at the same time.
Whirr x2.
“Number 250. Number 999. Both prizes are bullets.”
Sandi’s face darkened.
He pulled two levers again at the same time.
Whirr x2.
“Number 438. Number 686. The prizes are still bullets.”
Aila looked at Sandi in surprise. What a gloomy-faced customer.
“Your luck doesn’t seem very good, sir.”
Sandi simmered with anger.
He quickly got his emotions under control.
He glanced at Aila.

Heh.
These two 777s had definitely been tampered with. As expected, people from Nine Songs had no class. They were actually using such dirty tricks to swindle money.
According to the guarantee description, there was only a 30% chance of drawing a bullet.
The odds of getting one five times in a row were 0.243%.
How could it possibly be such a coincidence?
Sandi pulled the lever again.
741, 058, 028, 038. Four bullets in a row.
The veins on Sandi’s arm bulged.
One last time.
“Number 555. Ah, the customer has drawn an alloy short knife!”
Although he had been very unlucky for the first nine draws, now that he had pulled an alloy short knife, he had not actually lost that much.
Interesting.
Sandi narrowed his eyes.
“Another ten draws.” He lined up another fifteen coins.
In a moment, I’ll force-feed all these bullets to you.
Sandi sneered.
“Please go ahead, customer.”
Aila excitedly put away the money.
Even though his expression was awful, this customer was really generous.
Aila felt that her little savings stash had grown richer again.
Whirr.
Whirr.
Bullet x4.
Mm.
Sandi quickly spun the machine six more times.
A mechanical switchblade appeared once in the middle, but everything else was bullets.
“Interesting. Very interesting,” Sandi said.

“Huh?” Aila looked at Sandi with a baffled expression.
Sandi clapped his hands and looked at the bullets rolling across the tabletop and the knives lying flat beside them.
“The game ends here,” Sandi said.
“Customer, aren’t you going to continue drawing?” Aila asked. There was something odd about his tone, and she felt that something was off.
“You rigged this thing too, didn’t you? No matter how you draw, it’s all bullets.”
Sandi picked up the alloy short knife.
Aila immediately became unhappy. Anran had told her very clearly that this thing had not been tampered with, yet he actually dared to slander Anran.
“If you keep talking nonsense, I’m going to get angry.” She clenched her fists.
“Angry?”
A vague smile curled up at the corners of Sandi’s mouth.
He suddenly gave one of the 777s another pull.
“250. See? Another bullet.”
Sandi shook his head.
“Forget it. I won’t argue with you over this anymore.” Sandi stared at Aila’s slightly furrowed brows. “I’ve had enough of this game. It’s time to play something else.”
Sandi’s face suddenly turned savage.
“Don’t worry. The pain won’t last long. If you want to blame someone, blame your sister!” Sandi raised the alloy short knife and slowly walked into the shop until he was standing beside Aila.
Aila sprang to her feet. “Are you trying to fight?”
“Oh?” Sandi laughed. “You’ve got some spirit. Don’t cry later.”
He suddenly slashed out with the knife. It was not especially fast.
It went straight for Aila’s arm.
This strike would take off her left hand first.
Just as that thought crossed Sandi’s mind,
Bang!
Hm?
Yet that thought had only gotten halfway through his head
when his chest tightened, and Sandi realized he had been sent flying toward the back of the shop.
