Volume 2, Chapter 1 – Night of the Stars, the Descent of the Stars! (Part 2)
The moment Zhou Jieyu lowered her head, she noticed an invitation icon had appeared on her panel.
She opened it and discovered it was a friend request from a player named “Leading the Charge.”
Zhou Jieyu accepted it.
Very soon, the other side sent over a call request.
“Accept!”
The game panel flickered, and a 3D humanoid projection made of flowing data appeared on it. Beside the projection were the four words “Leading the Charge.”
“Bro, where are you right now?” Zhou Jieyu asked.
Leading the Charge was none other than her older brother, Zhou Jieqiong.
On the other end of the call, Zhou Jieqiong looked at his sister’s ID. Even though he had long known she would pick a name like that, the corner of his mouth still twitched.
Leading the Charge and Leading the Escape. You really don’t plan on doing party dungeon runs, do you?
“I’ll send you the address.”
Zhou Jieyu saw a line of text pop up in the chat box.
“Ailan Cluster No. 1886, Canyon Continent, Jiyu Village (E9-1654, N21-587)”
That was Zhou Jieqiong’s current location.
“That’s kind of far,” Zhou Jieyu muttered.
The coordinate system in Night of the Stars used EWNS to divide No. 1886 into many large regions, with numerical positioning inside each major region. Judging from the coordinates, Zhou Jieqiong’s region and hers were diagonally adjacent, but the actual distance could easily be several hundred or even over a thousand kilometers.
Zhou Jieqiong replied, “Spawn locations are all randomly assigned by the game. On a planet this huge, being only this far apart already counts as good luck.”
Zhou Jieyu opened the map and tried to find a route to Zhou Jieqiong’s location. That was when she discovered the map was all black.
The maps in Night of the Stars actually had to be explored by the player!
“There’s no helping it. Then we’ll just have to develop properly in our own beginner villages first. I’ll get a map and some money as soon as I can and come find you,” Zhou Jieqiong comforted her.
“It’s fine, bro, don’t worry…”
After chatting idly for a while longer, Zhou Jieyu cut off the call with Zhou Jieqiong.
Ha! Ha! Ha!

She stretched lazily in satisfaction. Being far apart was great. Only if they were far apart would her big brother be unable to keep tabs on her.
The sea is wide enough for fish to leap, and the sky high enough for birds to fly!
If she had an old brother hovering beside her even while playing a game, fussing over everything, half the fun would be gone.
During this stretch of time when her brother couldn’t control her, Zhou Jieyu was going to let herself run wild!
She turned and walked toward the inside of the town.
What had originally been empty open ground was now scattered with hundreds of players. With just one glance, Zhou Jieyu saw that many of them were every bit as excited as she was.
“This realism is insane. Can we papapa?”
“I think you can give it a try.”
Before the words had even finished falling, that guy who had spoken first reached down and tugged at his pants.
“Hey, hey, hey, what are you doing?” The people around him were instantly startled. They hurriedly backed away a few steps and looked at him with strange expressions.
That guy yanked downward a few more times, but his waistband only wobbled a little. He spread his hands. “Can’t take them off. One-star review!”
His face was full of regret.
“…”
An eyesore. How had she run into a pervert the moment she got in?
Zhou Jieyu quickened her pace.
“What the hell, why’d you hit me?” an angry roar sounded from the right.
When Zhou Jieyu turned around, she saw a young guy shouting excitedly, “Hahahaha… I didn’t think you could hit your teammates after partying up… Hahaha ahhhhhh, stop hitting me, stop hitting me.”
“I’m gonna beat you to death, you little bastard!”
Dust flew everywhere across the open ground. Zhou Jieyu could not help squinting one eye half shut. She truly could not bear to watch these little masters of courting death go around courting death.
Not long after, the dust finally settled. Zhou Jieyu saw a burly man sitting astride that young guy’s stomach, shaking a fist as big as a sandbag while muttering, “What a buzzkill. I can only knock off one-tenth of your HP. No matter how much I hit after that, your health doesn’t drop anymore.”
“Sir, please get off me already,” the young guy wailed pitifully.
The burly man stood up while hitching up his belt. “Serve you right for acting suicidal. If you pull this crap again next time, I’ll keep beating your ass!”

Zhou Jieyu sped up again and made her way past half the crowd.
“Damn, where did you pick up that knife from?”
Zhou Jieyu had only just taken two more steps when she was suddenly jostled. Annoyed, she turned her head and saw that a circle had abruptly opened up not far away. A player was holding a dusty, forty-centimeter knife in his hand.
At a time when nobody had any offensive equipment, the moment one player suddenly raised a knife, he was immediately “isolated” by everyone around him.
“Don’t be scared, everyone!” that player shouted.
But everyone was still very scared.
Don’t chop me, don’t chop me…
“I’m a scientific researcher. I have a gentle personality. I never hurt other people…”
That sounded like the opening line of a psychopath.
Zhou Jieyu hurriedly shrank back a little farther. With hundreds of millions of players, and even more in the future, how could there not be a few lunatics? Better stay farther away.
That player flourished the knife in his hand.
The circle around him instantly widened by another meter in diameter.
Better leave now.
Zhou Jieyu was just about to slip away.
The moment she turned around, a huge cry of alarm erupted behind her.
“What the hell, what kind of move is that?”
“I never hurt other people, because I only stab myself?”
“People in scientific research are too hardcore. I’m out!”
Zhou Jieyu quickly turned back around, only to see that the forty-centimeter knife was now lodged diagonally in that player’s chest. If there had not been nobody within a two-meter radius of him, Zhou Jieyu would have thought someone had counter-killed him.
“A fatal chest wound. Losing 20 HP per second. Time until death… uh…”
Before he even finished speaking, the player died.

No corpse was left behind, and who knew where he had respawned. The knife simply fell to the ground.
The people around it went quiet for a moment, then instantly surged forward all at once.
“That knife is mine!”
“Back off, back off. Come any closer and I’ll start chopping people.”
“Flip him over, flip him over. Hold down his legs!”
Zhou Jieyu quietly left.
These people were too terrifying. The novelty of the experience had made a group of “perverts” who loved experimenting and exploring completely lose all sense of limits.
With just a casual glance, she saw a fat guy hugging a skinny man of the same sex and trying to kiss him, but because of the game’s collision rules, no matter how hard he tried, he could not make contact.
“Pah!”
The fat guy angrily let go of the skinny man. “It actually doesn’t work! Emmm…”
He pondered for a moment. “If it doesn’t work on players, maybe it’ll work on NPCs.”
The more he thought about it, the happier he got, and he ran off toward Ruins Town.
All that was left behind was the skinny man, dry-heaving for ages without managing to throw anything up.
Staring at the sky.
After an arduous journey for her poor soul, Zhou Jieyu finally reached the entrance to Ruins Town.
The first thing she saw was a middle-aged woman sweeping the ground.
Her heart stirred, and Zhou Jieyu walked over. “Auntie, did you just see a fat guy in gray clothes go by?”
The middle-aged woman glanced at Zhou Jieyu, pointed upward at the sky, and then went back to sweeping.
What the hell?
Did she not understand what I said, or are the NPCs here just not very bright?
Though puzzled, Zhou Jieyu still raised her head.
With that one look, she instantly broke out in a cold sweat.

Across the blue sky stretched a thick line connecting two tall buildings. Hanging from the middle of that line was a fat man, his hands bound, a rope wound around his waist and suspending him from the cable. When the wind blew, he even swayed a little, and it was obvious that his mouth had been stuffed shut.
Terrifying.
Zhou Jieyu hurriedly moved farther away. If the fat guy got so scared that he pissed himself, her life would be over if she happened to be standing underneath.
After walking on, Zhou Jieyu saw an old man sitting behind the counter of a small roadside shop.
She immediately walked over. “Sir, do you have a detailed map of this area?”
The old man yawned and nodded. “Sure do.”
One look at that crinkled face and it was obvious he was advanced in years.
Overjoyed, Zhou Jieyu said, “Sir, could you lend me the map so I can take a look?”
“No.”
The old man’s answer was utterly decisive.
“…”
Why were the people here so stingy?
“Sir, just let me look at it once,” Zhou Jieyu pleaded.
The old man shook his head. “Nope. Fifty Bilu per look.”
“…”
“What the hell, why are the local customs here this far from simple and honest?” Zhou Jieyu could not help blurting out a curse.
Fifty Bilu. Sorry, but she did not even have one.
The old man let out a cold laugh. Suddenly he stood up and pointed behind himself. “What exactly made you think the local customs here would be simple and honest?”
Zhou Jieyu looked over.
On the wall and the shelves were knives, guns, clubs, axes, and even sacks…
Cold sweat poured down her forehead. She lifted her gaze and finally noticed the shop’s sign.
Your Grandpa’s Weapon Shop.
