Volume 2, Chapter 35 – I Have a Good Idea
“Thanks.”
Zhou Jieyu thanked Anran.
“No need, no need.” Anran quickly waved her hands.
She turned her face to the side, and where Zhou Jieyu could not see, her expression suddenly turned strange.
No big deal. It was actually better if she misunderstood.
The two of them continued on their way.
Their pace was still perfectly coordinated.
?( ??` )( ??` )?
All the way until they got close to their destination, they did not run into any danger.
Zhou Jieyu stood in front, while Anran, very skillfully, stood behind her, hiding behind a wall. Zhou Jieyu’s gaze landed on a gate across the road.
“Yihe Hospital.”
Those four large red characters were written on the stone pillar to the right of the gate.
“So this is the place?” Zhou Jieyu looked up, the round helmet tilting back. Then, from the corner of her eye, she realized that at some point Anran’s head had already stretched up above hers.
Ummm…
All Zhou Jieyu could do was bow to the “big shot.”
“That’s right. This is the place.”
Anran said.
The location marked on the map, Yihe Hospital, was where Eudora worked, and it was also the large hospital closest to Eudora’s home.
It looked as though a fierce battle had broken out on the road. The place was full of craters and scars, and a lot of building debris was piled up on the street, making the route to the hospital far from smooth.
“You go first…”

Before Anran could finish, Zhou Jieyu cut her off. “I’ll go. I’ll go.”
There was a sense of resigned acceptance in her voice.
“…”
Anran reflected for a moment. Am I really that scary?
While she was reflecting, Zhou Jieyu had already gone out first. Bent low, trembling, she inched forward step by step, and after what felt like forever, she had only made it to the middle of the road.
Even Anran’s gun hand was trembling.
This…
Zhou Jieyu, on the other hand, felt that this was perfectly steady. The mission she had accepted was to serve as Anran’s guard and escort her to the destination. With the mission almost complete, how could she die right before “freedom”?
“Just hurry up and walk.”
A voice suddenly drifted over from behind, and at the same time someone tapped her helmet. Zhou Jieyu was so startled that she dropped to the ground.
She had just been about to yell that there was an enemy when she saw a long fluttering hem sweep past her eyes. Anran’s small but straight figure appeared right in front of her and kept moving farther away.
“Hey, wait for me.” Zhou Jieyu scrambled to her feet in one motion.
Sticking close behind Anran, she asked in confusion, “Is it really okay for us to walk right out in the open like this?”
“What if someone suddenly sticks a gun out of a window and shoots us dead?”
Without even turning her head, Anran said, “If there really were someone there, you, crawling along outside like a turtle just now, would have been turned into a sieve already.”
“…”
Zhou Jieyu instantly became unhappy. “Even if there was no one just now, what if an enemy suddenly pops out now…”
“Heh.”
“Hmmm.” Zhou Jieyu dragged out the sound to show her dissatisfaction. Her personality really was just as nasty as ever.
“Do you think moving slowly like you were gives you a higher chance of running into enemies that suddenly appear, or does walking quickly make that more likely?” Anran slapped a hand against a pillar with her right hand, vaulted easily over a railing, and shot the question back at Zhou Jieyu.

Zhou Jieyu took a few extra steps around the railing, then jogged to catch up with Anran. “Well, that… walking quickly is probably safer.”
“Exactly.” Anran took out a headlamp from her backpack and put it on.
As they spoke, they had already reached the area near Yihe Hospital’s inpatient building.
Beyond the next downward slope was the outpatient building.
The pharmacy Anran was looking for was inside.
“Wait.”
Zhou Jieyu was just about to head toward the outpatient building when she noticed Anran suddenly crouch down.
“What now?”
Anran ran her hand over a mottled tree. “Bullet holes. Anyway, be careful.”
Bullet holes?
Zhou Jieyu instantly grew nervous again and looked around suspiciously in all directions.
Anran’s vigilance also rose. If Zhou Jieyu got killed, she could still return to the respawn point, but Anran herself would most likely be erased directly.
The front of the outpatient building was very open. As soon as they entered, the registration hall was on the left-hand side.
Anran turned her head. The beam cast by the headlamp on her forehead let her see the indoor environment clearly.
When the beam landed on the medicine pickup window on the right, Anran’s pupils suddenly contracted.
Zhou Jieyu nearly cried out too, but fortunately she reacted quickly and covered her mouth with both hands.
“A c-c-c-corpse?” Zhou Jieyu said shakily.
“Stop messing around. Let’s go over and take a look first.”
Anran walked over first.

“Hey.” Zhou Jieyu was panicking like crazy. Seeing Anran walk off with the light, she hurried after her.
“One, two.” Looking through the shattered glass partition, Anran saw two nurses lying on the floor in the small pharmacy behind it.
The pharmacy shelves had been knocked into complete disarray, and countless medicines were scattered all over the floor.
Could it be that the other side had come here for medicine too?
Anran could not figure it out, nor did she know whether they had already left.
She quickly switched off the headlamp.
The outpatient hall was plunged into darkness in an instant.
“Hey, why’d you turn off the light?” Zhou Jieyu’s agitated voice came over.
Just as Anran was about to speak, she discovered a soft body pressing close and rubbing against her unintentionally.
Anran’s face darkened immediately. “So who exactly is the guard here, me or you?”
“Uh?”
Zhou Jieyu quickly sidestepped away and stammered, “I’m just a little not used to dark environments. Right, I have night blindness.”
Go ahead and make things up. Lying isn’t illegal right now anyway.
Anran walked toward the stairs. Her destination was the fourth floor of the outpatient building.
There was a large pharmacy there, with a lot of useful medicine stored inside.
In the somewhat cramped corridor, Anran slowly pushed the trembling Zhou Jieyu forward.
“I can walk by myself,” Zhou Jieyu whispered.
“Hiding behind me still counts as walking?” Anran remained unmoved.
Zhou Jieyu was just about to argue back when Anran suddenly reached out and covered her mouth.
“FMLh.”

Then Anran pulled her into a room beside them.
“There’s someone here!” Anran made a silencing gesture and then let Zhou Jieyu go.
Zhou Jieyu stopped talking at once, because even without Anran saying anything else, she could already hear footsteps and voices outside.
“Didn’t find anyone. We can only go check the monitoring room first.”
“The monitoring room is just ahead.”
The monitoring room?
Anran whipped her head around.
Monitors. Screens.
Oh, crap. The place they had just ducked into was actually the monitoring room.
One of the monitors showed that the other side had no fewer than seven people.
That was seven fully armed soldiers.
Anran weighed the combat strength of both sides. In a one-on-one fight, she was probably stronger than any of the people outside, but her only helper was a timid meat shield. Trying to pull off meat shield plus one versus seven was obviously very difficult.
What should she do?
Anran’s gaze suddenly fell on something in the corner of the monitoring room.
Then it fell on Zhou Jieyu.
“What is it?” Zhou Jieyu looked at Anran in confusion. She felt Anran’s gaze was a little strange.
Anran said eerily, “I have a good idea.”
“What idea?” Zhou Jieyu asked.
“How about this.” Anran pointed at the things in the corner. “Why don’t you put those on and go pretend to be a ghost?”
