Volume 3, Chapter 20 – Y-You Spendthrift Girl
“1 kg of steel, 0.? kg of copper, plus a small amount of alloy.”
Anran picked out the amount she needed from the pile of metal in the corner.
As soon as she arrived that morning, she discovered that the metal that had been used up by the wall had somehow “come back.”
Gray’s service was actually pretty thoughtful.
“As expected of a Micro Transmission System. It only takes this little material to make.”
Anran sighed in admiration, but her hands never stopped moving. Following the instructions in the blueprint, she began making the “Micro Transmission System.”
The so-called Micro Transmission System was like a simple little cart. Once wound up, it could travel several dozen meters. If a timed bomb were placed on top of it, it might prove surprisingly effective.
Bomb-making had to be moved up on the schedule.
The money Aila earned over there was already enough to buy quite a lot of raw materials.
“Ding! You successfully produced [Micro Transmission System] and gained 160 EXP.”
“Ding! You successfully produced [mechanical switchblade] and gained 200 EXP.”
“Ding! You successfully produced…”
Half the morning passed, and Anran had successfully saved up another 2,000-plus EXP.
She was still more than 10,000 away from leveling up.
At this rate, it would probably take about a week to reach [Basic Mechanic]. That speed was actually pretty good.
After tidying everything up, Anran came out of the underground workshop.
When she saw Gray this time, Anran was not stingy. She directly paid the materials fee.
Three hundred Bilu still made her heart ache for a little while.
After leaving the Research Center, the guard was still wearing that lazy look on his face.
Worried about Aila, Anran quickened her pace and headed straight out.
As soon as she shifted her gaze to the left, she saw Aila standing motionless in front of the handcart, while across from it stood someone who was trying to get Aila’s attention.
There was also a girl beside that person, dragging his arm as if trying to pull him away.
There were words floating over their heads.
Players, obviously.
It was just that their names were blocked by the handcart’s canopy.
“…”
What the hell. He actually came over to harass Aila right in front of a girl!

Anran strode over.
Only when she got closer did she see the two players’ IDs clearly.
“Nai Knight” and “Qingshuang.”
“…”
“Anran, he’s so noisy!” The moment Aila saw Anran, she pointed at Nai Knight. “Can I hit him?”
“Crack—”
It was as if Anran suddenly heard the sound of her heart shattering.
“Please don’t. Better let me handle this.” Anran broke out in a cold sweat.
By then, Nai Knight had stopped struggling so hard, and Qingshuang yanked him away in one pull.
“Brother Nai, stop embarrassing yourself here!” Qingshuang said.
Nai Knight looked utterly dejected. “I actually got rejected.”
“Enough with the yapping. You’re lucky the police didn’t drag you away,” Qingshuang added, stabbing him where it hurt.
“…”
Only after they had been dragged quite far away—
“Boss.” Only then did the other three members of their party sneak over.
“You were so embarrassing just now. We didn’t even dare say we knew you.”
“Boss Knight, you’re such a pervert! But I like that!”
“…”
“Your tastes are really heavy. Boss is at least just a perverted lolicon, but you’re actually into lolicons.”
“…”
Anran watched the noisy group of five leave.
By now, there was no one left gathered around them. The other side of the street was still lively, and there were still plenty of people stealing glances this way.
But Anran ignored them completely.
Being an NPC required thick skin. Otherwise, how could you deal with so many players?
“Aila, how much money did we make this time?” Anran steered the conversation to what she actually cared about.
“A total of 1,280 Bilu. Seventy-eight coins and ten banknotes.”
After saying that, Aila took the money out of her pocket and handed all of it to Anran.

We’re rich…
Anran’s eyes were like oversized light bulbs.
In just one morning, they had actually earned more than half a month’s wages.
She happily took the money, then picked out ten ten-Bilu coins and handed them to Aila. “This is your allowance.”
Aila took the coins, stacked all ten together, held them up in front of her eyes to look at them, and then suddenly opened her mouth and bit down in one go.
What the hell—
Anran was startled. It was already too late to stop her, so she could only step sideways to block the players’ line of sight.
“Crunch crunch—”
“Crunch crunch—” Aila chewed only a few times before swallowing those coins.
Trembling…
Anran’s hand was trembling.
Her heartbeat suddenly sped up, her blood pressure suddenly shot up, and her head suddenly started spinning.
Anran knew her old condition had flared up again: all kinds of complications caused by seeing money go to waste for nothing.
“What’s wrong?” Aila looked at Anran in confusion.
“Y-you, you actually ate the money!” Anran said in a trembling voice.
“I can’t eat this?” Aila asked, puzzled. “But I’m a little hungry. Anran, can you give me a little more?”
You still want more?!
“Do you know how much of your usual food that money could buy?”
“I don’t know.” Aila shook her head.
“That money was enough for you to eat twenty full meals!” Anran’s heart was bleeding.
What a waste.
“That much?” Aila was stunned by Anran’s explanation.
A rare look of surprise appeared on her face.
The emotion she showed most often was usually only “curiosity.”
“Twenty. That’s enough for seven days!” Fortunately, Aila did not cutely start counting on her fingers.
“You ate seven days’ worth of food money in one bite.” Anran covered her face. Fine. From now on, she’d only give Aila banknotes. Paper was not part of Aila’s diet.

What a spendthrift girl.
A hundred Bilu, a hundred Bilu, a hundred Bilu…
Anran suddenly turned around and stopped a passing player. “Hey, buddy, wanna buy a knife?”
“Huh?” The player looked at Anran in surprise.
She was a pretty cute female NPC.
But what kind of move was this, suddenly trying to sell knives?
Anran had already put on her merchant hat.
“Mechanical switchblade, 150 Bilu each. Since it’s my grand opening today, how about 140 for you?”
Anran pulled out a mechanical switchblade from her backpack that she had not put away yet.
The player swallowed and unconsciously took a step back. Why did this feel like highway robbery?
But after opening the shop, he realized he had misunderstood.
“Anran’s Secret Shop.”
[Alloy Shortsword: 100 Bilu]
[mechanical switchblade: 150 Bilu]
[1886 Hermit Pistol: 200 Bilu]
…
“Uh…”
She looked weirdly fierce.
But she really was a merchant.
“Wanna buy a knife? Great quality! It extends and retracts, perfect for surprise attacks and killing, an essential item for home and travel!” Anran repeated.
“…” Cold sweat poured down the player’s face. He checked the description for the mechanical switchblade.
At 140 Bilu, it really did seem like a strong melee weapon.
“Th-then all right, I’ll buy one.” After hesitating for a moment, the player took out the money.
One hand paid, the other delivered the goods.
She got 140 Bilu in hand, but Anran still felt pained.
“Anran, did I do something wrong?” Aila said to the returning Anran with her head lowered.
“Th…”

Anran had originally planned to say something, but when she saw Aila standing there with her head lowered, looking like a child admitting fault, she suddenly could not say anything at all.
Although eating money really was a pretty spendthrift thing to do,
Aila still did not understand many things. While raising her, there were bound to be all kinds of twists and turns.
“Let’s go back. We’ll have lunch first.”
And put the stuff down while they were at it.
Anran pushed the cart, Aila followed behind, and the two of them walked all the way back.
“Favorability from Aila +3.”
Anran froze for a moment, and the pain in her heart instantly vanished without a trace.
…
However, as soon as she arrived at Eudora’s home, Anran heard a piece of terrible news.
“I heard someone set fire to 27 Sicha Road last night. The house was burned clean to the ground.”
27 Sicha Road?
Emmm…
What the hell.
Anran suddenly jumped to her feet. No wonder it had sounded so familiar. Wasn’t 27 Sicha Road her house?
Someone had set it on fire, and it had burned clean to the ground?
Fuck.
Even if it was a shabby house, she could still have sold it for at least 10,000 Bilu when the time came.
Anran immediately turned to run outside.
But when she reached the doorway, she suddenly stopped.
Something was wrong.
Her house had been deliberately set on fire, and she had not offended many people recently.
Other than that Lennard, there were only Morningstar’s people.
If this was retaliation from Morningstar, then running back now would be no different from going to her death.
Cold sweat kept rolling down Anran’s forehead.
There was a ninety percent chance Morningstar’s people had come again.
