Volume 3, Chapter 31 – This Lady Likes Hitting Self-Righteous People the Most (Part 1)
Was my thinking really that rigid?
Zhou Jieyu did not think so at all.
After all, she was a pioneer!
The first player to reach Twinmoon City.
The first player to survive in the main city.
Way more impressive than “Nai Knight,” who had been blown to pieces halfway there.
She was obviously flexible-minded, brilliant, and unbeatable.
How was her thinking rigid at all?
And besides…
“Weren’t the guards all blown up by you, Anran? Why do we still have to be careful?”
“The people outside have been dealt with, but there are definitely still people inside the house. And putting that aside, with such a huge commotion outside, what do you think that retired official is going to do?”
“Mm…”
You have a point. I’ll listen to you.
Imitating Anran, Zhou Jieyu picked up her rifle and slowly advanced along the wall of the small house.
They might be planning to kidnap a retired official, but if she got sniped to death halfway there, then this “villain” act would have no presence at all. It would be completely humiliating.
Fortunately, the cautious Anran smoothly slipped into the large house in the middle.
Before going inside, she even noticed that there was a swimming pool behind the house.
Good heavens. As expected of a retired official. This life really is luxurious.
Such a huge house…
“Setting everything else aside, this house alone must cost a lot, right? At least several hundred thousand Bilu.”
Anran muttered softly.
“Several hundred thousand Bilu would already count as cheap, wouldn’t it?” Zhou Jieyu suddenly cut in.

“…”
Anran turned to look at her.
“The house I live in now is even bigger than this one. It costs more than twenty-three million.” Zhou Jieyu stated a number that made Anran’s blood surge, and she did it in an utterly calm tone.
T-t-twenty-three million!
Even though Anran knew that was real-world money and very different from the game’s economy, she was still drawn in.
So, so amazing!
So, so rich!
Sure enough, everyone was different from a pauper like me.
Who would have thought that the silly-looking “Leading the Escape” was actually a super-rich heiress in the real world?
I really want to cling to her thigh…
No, wait.
Anran’s expression shifted slightly. First, she could not reveal her true identity, which meant she also could not show any understanding of the real world.
Second, she was an NPC, an NPC who was going to become a Boss.
Why should I be clinging to anyone’s thigh? Shouldn’t I be figuring out how to make “Leading the Escape” hand over her money herself?
“Does your family run mines on No. 1886 or something?” Anran asked, feigning surprise.
“Uh, no, not that.” Zhou Jieyu shook her head. “I mean back in the other world. I’m an outlander, remember?”
“Oh.” Anran was just about to say something else when a figure suddenly darted across her field of vision.
Four legs. It shot past in a flash, and it was fairly large too.
It’s you, doggo!
“Come on. Enough of that for now. Let’s go find that retired official first.”
A smile curled onto Anran’s lips.
As the intruders, and fully armed at that, Anran and Zhou Jieyu were the cats.

And the retired official was the mouse, a mouse that knew the cats were coming and had started struggling.
A game of cat and mouse began inside the house.
…
There was more than one person in the large house. More accurately, there was more than one living creature.
So as they moved forward, whenever Anran ran into anything that might get in the way, she treated it to a bullet.
Anything that got treated to a bullet would obligingly get out of the way and close its eyes in peace.
Faced with such hospitality from Anran, Zhou Jieyu had nothing to say, and was even trembling a little.
“All right, it’s here.” Anran stopped in front of a room on the first floor.
On the enlarged map, the glowing dot representing the retired official was fixed at this very spot.
Originally, that glowing dot had been there to help the examinees protect the retired official. Now, however, it had become a guide for Anran to hunt him down.
Its uses really were endless.
The retired official himself had never imagined such a turn of events.
He was hiding in the basement, and he heard Anran push open the door.
He heard Anran fiddling with something in the room.
He heard all kinds of knocking and banging.
Then he heard a faint rumble.
Finally, he heard the sharp clack-clack-clack of a door opening.
“…”
Light shone down from above, and the dim basement instantly brightened.
His eyes were stung by the sudden brightness. Just as the retired official was about to fire, his wrist was struck hard.
His fingers loosened, and the pistol flew straight out of his hand.

Anran’s voice had already reached him. “You hid yourself well, but I still found you.”
A woman’s voice?
The retired official opened his eyes, and what he saw were the faces of two young girls leaning close.
They were far too young.
They’re the ones who came to kill me?
Even with danger right in front of him, the retired official still froze.
“Eh, I thought he’d be really old. He looks like he’s only in his forties. Why did he retire already? Could he have some hidden illness?” Zhou Jieyu muttered under her breath.
“…”
The retired official had nothing to say.
Anran immediately smacked Zhou Jieyu on the head. “Stop talking nonsense and hurry up and drag him out.”
“Oh, right.”
Covering the back of her head, Zhou Jieyu worked together with Anran. In just a few moves, they hauled the retired official out, and his struggling looked utterly weak.
“Let go of me. Who exactly are you people?”
Pinned straight to the floor, the retired official started shouting.
“Quiet down, you big-headed doll!” Anran pulled out her gun.
Umm…
Zhou Jieyu gestured with her hands. This man’s head really was kind of big.
The retired official instantly chickened out.
“Are you after money? If you are, I can take you to the safe right away…”
“No, no, no. Actually, we’re here to protect you.” Anran shook her head.
If this were not a dungeon instance, Anran would actually be quite happy to go after money.
“Protect me?” The retired official’s mind short-circuited. What kind of new move was this?

Bang.
Anran had been about to say something else when a sound suddenly came from outside.
She turned to Zhou Jieyu and said, “There are still three more people. I’ll go deal with them first. Keep an eye on him.”
That rumble from just now had been the small house exploding, successfully blowing up seven of Morningstar’s people.
“No problem. Leave it to me!” Zhou Jieyu immediately waved the gun in her hand, brimming with confidence.
The retired official fell silent, his eyes shifting.
The shorter girl was the one in charge. The one beside her was a little taller and looked a bit silly. If he got the chance, it wasn’t as though he had no chan…
“Ah!”
The retired official suddenly let out a scream.
Anran clenched her fist.
That punch had seemed a little off, but the retired official’s right hand was temporarily useless now, hanging limply at his side.
“I’ll be the one to shatter your delusion of trying to escape. Once I’ve dealt with the people outside, I’ll come back and properly take care of you.”
With gun in hand, Anran turned and left.
Ignoring the retired official, who was sweating from the pain.
And Zhou Jieyu, who had been completely startled.
Was Anran really that scary?
Shiver, shiver.
Wail!
Cry out!
Draw all three of Morningstar’s people over here!
That way Anran would not have to play hide-and-seek with them.
