Volume 3, Chapter 32 – This Lady Likes Hitting Self-Righteous People the Most (Part 2)

Anran walked out of the room.

Although the retired official was still groaning in pain, and his screams were enough to make anyone irritable, Zhou Jieyu still felt as though the temperature had suddenly risen quite a bit.

Her trembling body stopped trembling.

She could breathe freely again.

She stretched lazily, then prodded the retired official with the muzzle of her rifle, putting on a “fierce” expression. “Stop yelling. If you keep yelling, I’ll hit you!”

“Ahhh—” the retired official cried out again.

At this point, half his wailing was because he was genuinely in pain, and half was because he wanted to draw over the three people Anran had mentioned.

He had already decided that Anran and Zhou Jieyu were “terrorists” (though he had no idea why they were two young girls), and that those three people were the guards he had hired.

As long as he could call those three guards over, he could still be saved.

If Anran were still here, the retired official definitely would not dare say a word. No matter how much it hurt, he would have to endure it. But Zhou Jieyu was different. This one seemed easier to fool.

“Mmm…”

Looking at the still-howling retired official, Zhou Jieyu let out a long hum, then suddenly turned and looked around.

There were quite a few things in this little room.

While going ah-ah-ah, the retired official watched Zhou Jieyu’s movements.

What was she trying to do?

Zhou Jieyu pulled a mop out from the corner. It had a solid wooden handle, and when she tossed it lightly, it felt fairly heavy.

Gripping the mop, Zhou Jieyu walked over to the retired official.

She walked with a bit of difficulty. It took her nearly ten seconds to cover the short distance of five meters.

But it was precisely that slow, unhurried pace that made the retired official suddenly sense that something was wrong.

“If you yell again, I’ll break your other arm too!” Zhou Jieyu said kindly.

Huh?

The retired official was instantly horrified!

He even forgot to keep yelling.

What the hell?

Why was even this girl so vicious?

No, wait.

He realized he had gotten one thing wrong. Even if this girl was a little more “kind” than the shorter one, they were accomplices. She was still a violent criminal!

Zhou Jieyu was very satisfied with the retired official’s reaction.

Without realizing it, she had already begun to cast herself in Anran’s role.

“To stop you from making noise again, bite down on this yourself!”

Zhou Jieyu tore off a strip of cloth from the mop and rolled it into a ball before handing it to the retired official.

This…

The retired official looked troubled, even though it was cloth from a brand-new mop.

“Hm?” Zhou Jieyu narrowed her eyes and raised the mop high.

“No, no, no.” The retired official immediately lifted his left hand to stop Zhou Jieyu. Pulling a long face, he said, “I’ll bite it. I’ll bite it, all right?”

He opened his mouth and stared at that strip of cloth for several seconds. Then he shut his eyes and bit down on it in one go.

Not bad.

Zhou Jieyu dragged over a small stool and sat down.

She looked the retired official up and down as he leaned against the wall, shivering like a little chick.

She was extremely satisfied.

What she was thinking was, I can be just as awesome as Anran!

This lady’s learning ability really is incredible.

Watching someone tremble under her intimidation gave her an inexplicable sense of accomplishment.

Why be some great hero? Being a great demon king was obviously much more fun.

Zhou Jieyu felt that she had probably awakened.

Bored, she started talking to the retired official. “Actually, you don’t have to be this scared.”

Zhou Jieyu “comforted” the trembling retired official. “Really, we’re not here to kill you.”

She paused, then added, “We’re just here to kidnap you.”

“…”

The retired official trembled even harder.

He still did not want to die.

“Look how scared you are. Your nerve is way too weak.” Zhou Jieyu tapped the floor. “At the very least, we’ll protect your safety until six in the morning.”

Hearing that only made the retired official even more frightened. In other words, they had some purpose, and after six o’clock, his life would no longer matter?

“It’s very dangerous outside right now. The Morningstar Resistance sent a lot of people to kill you. Staying with us is the safest option,” Zhou Jieyu said.

Naturally, the retired official did not believe her.

I haven’t seen the Morningstar Resistance anywhere. My hand has already been broken by you two, my house has been wrecked by you two, and my guards are probably done for too. There can’t be many of them left.

Seeing that the retired official was still trembling, Zhou Jieyu took out her little notebook.

“Look, this is my identification. Actually, I was sent by the Security Department to protect you!”

Yeah, right.

The retired official made a couple of muffled sounds, but he still instinctively glanced at Zhou Jieyu’s little notebook.

The identification was very detailed, and all the visible anti-counterfeiting measures seemed fine as well.

Could it be that they really were from the Security Department?

But if they were sent by the Security Department, why were they kidnapping him?

Or were they defectors from the Security Department, kidnapping him as a hostage so they could negotiate with the Security Department?

The retired official was already convinced that Zhou Jieyu belonged to the Security Department. As for Anran, since he had not seen her little notebook, he was not sure.

Creak—

The sound of a door being pushed open suddenly rang out.

The retired official immediately began yelling through his gag. After all, he had bitten down on that cloth himself, so even without using his hands, he quickly spat it out.

“It’s you?” The moment the retired official saw that it was Anran coming in, his face instantly turned ashen.

“Looks like you’re pretty disappointed.”

Anran tore a strip of cloth from her sleeve and wrapped the extra wound on her arm.

That would effectively prevent her from continuously losing health.

“You’re from the Security Department too?” The retired official shrank back a little as he asked.

“How did you…” Halfway through the sentence, Anran immediately turned to look at Zhou Jieyu.

“Well…” Zhou Jieyu gave an awkward laugh and rubbed the back of her head. “I showed him my little notebook.”

“…”

Anran said, “Forget it. It’s not a big problem. We do indeed belong to the Security Department.”

She admitted it honestly.

“If you are from the Security Department, then aren’t you afraid of being investigated by the Security Department for kidnapping me?” the retired official demanded. Once he returned to official talk, his confidence suddenly grew much stronger.

“Not at all.” Anran spread her hands. “Why would I be afraid of a Security Department that doesn’t exist?”

“A Security Department that doesn’t exist? What do you mean?” The retired official was utterly confused.

“Exactly what it sounds like.” Anran walked over to the corner.

“You may not fully understand who I am,” the retired official said thoughtfully. “Although I am currently resting at home, this is only temporary. I still have a great deal of influence in political circles. As long as you let me go, I can not only have the Security Department waive your crimes, I can also get you promoted…”

“Can you get us a raise?” Anran suddenly turned back and asked.

“Uh…” The retired official froze for a moment. “Of course.”

“Unfortunately, not a word you’re saying has any effect.”

With visible regret, Anran found a few ropes and a roll of tape, then walked toward the retired official.

“No, no, no, what I’m saying is true. Believe me. I’m the former Minister of Finance, I…”

Riiip—

The retired official was still babbling on when Anran directly sealed his mouth with tape.

“This lady likes hitting self-righteous people the most! Nothing you say is of any use. Pray that you can survive Morningstar’s attack until six in the morning.”

Anran pulled the rope out longer.

“Come help. Let’s tie him up first.”

“Oh, okay.” Zhou Jieyu immediately walked over.

The two of them fully displayed their talent for rope bondage artistry, and the retired official was tied up like a rice dumpling.

“What do we do next?” Zhou Jieyu asked.

“Find a hidden place and stuff him into it. Whether he can make it to six o’clock will depend on luck.”

The moment Anran finished speaking, the retired official immediately began trembling violently.
