Volume 3, Chapter 34 – I Am a Hero Among Players Too!
The Morningstar Resistance’s fourth wave of invaders arrived nearby.
This time, there were still ten of them.
It seemed they had already passed through the area on the outskirts of town where fighting had broken out earlier, so they advanced with extreme caution.
Even though Anran had already set up her sniper rifle, after hesitating again and again, she still chose not to fire.
Those dark figures kept using cover to protect themselves, and Anran was not confident that she could drop one with a single shot.
If she gained nothing and only alerted the other side, exposing her own position instead, that would be a huge loss.
So Anran waited patiently.
As for Zhou Jieyu, after hearing Anran’s suggestion, she had already gone off to make her preparations.
She wanted to become a hero among players too!
After all, she was unwilling to be just a laid-back sightseeing player, which was why she had been giving it her all in her attempts and staying active on the forums.
“As long as we get through this wave, the rest will be much easier.” Anran tossed the sniper rifle aside. In close-range combat, her three-round-burst assault rifle was still more useful.
The Morningstar Resistance members lingered outside the estate for a moment, seemingly discussing countermeasures.
Only after several minutes did they move again.
They swiftly crossed the fence and charged into the courtyard.
At this point, Anran’s view was no longer that good, but her gaze remained fixed on the five people huddled together.
She watched those five walk up to a small outbuilding, watched them look around, and watched them send one person forward to open the door.
Anran raised her gun and hid behind a second-floor window.
She aimed, then quickly pulled the trigger.
The sound of mechanical parts striking each other seemed to ring in her ears.
The bullets she fired shot out like a sparse curtain of rain, instantly sealing off the target’s route of escape.
“Ah!”

“Ahhh!”
“Someone’s there!”
“There’s someone upstairs!”
“Points +3.”
The moment she received the prompt, Anran quickly left the guest room. The bullets chasing after her shattered even the chandelier hanging from the ceiling.
Crash after crash.
It was the announcement of death!
Anran shut the door.
Incidentally, all the entrances to the large central house had also been blocked off.
The front door had already split halfway open in Morningstar’s previous assault, but Anran still dragged over a sofa to block it.
Once they got the news, the Morningstar Resistance quickly regrouped and began assaulting the large house.
But the traps that had been set in advance made them suffer badly.
Glass shards and sharp bits of metal scattered across the floor, nauseating kitchen waste strewn across the hallway, and water constantly flowing down from the stairs.
Everything was a complete mess.
Whatever disgusted people the most was exactly what they ran into.
Advancing step by step in such miserable conditions, of the seven people remaining, only four were soon still able to move.
After all, not every trap was so gentle.
Yet none of this could extinguish the blazing fury of the Morningstar Resistance.
Their long-standing anger toward the retired official, and their anger over their fallen comrades,
only strengthened their will to press forward. It left them gritting their teeth, full of determination, determined to hang the retired official’s corpse upside down from the roof of this house!
The more fiercely the “retired official” resisted, the more excited they became.

That was more than enough to prove that their target was upstairs, making one last desperate struggle.
Feel the fury of the rebels!
Morningstar’s four remaining men finally reached the second floor.
The layout upstairs was even more complicated.
But they were in no hurry to split up and search. They still understood the tactic of defeating enemies one by one.
It was just that, despite being cautious and vigilant, they still forgot that wiping out the whole group at once was also a valid tactic.
Boom!
A huge explosion ripped through the night sky.
The grenade that exploded behind one of the doors compressed the air so violently that several of the second-floor windows shattered into fragments on the spot.
And not a single Morningstar fighter near that doorway was spared.
Without feeling much pain at all, they went to reunite with their brothers.
“There are still two more waves of attacks. With Leading the Escape around, the next wave shouldn’t be much of a problem. As long as we survive the final wave, we should be basically done.”
Between three and four in the morning, when the air was coldest, was also when dawn was about to arrive.
Anran gathered every weapon she could make use of, then walked out of the badly wrecked mansion.
After several rounds of battle, the retired official’s luxury home looked as though it might collapse at any moment.
Anran hid in the shadows and quietly waited for the prompt announcing the arrival of the fifth wave.
Zhou Jieyu hid in the shadows too, waiting patiently as well.
She had already handed most of the weapons on her over to Anran. The only things left in front of her were the tactical gear she always carried with her.
“Attention. The fifth wave of invasion is now officially beginning. Attention.”
The prompt sounded right on time.

By then, it was already 4:30 a.m.
Anran loosened up her body.
Lurking in the shadows, she waited until Morningstar’s people once again reached the battlefield.
Then she suddenly darted out. Wrapped in a coat taken from the house, she left a hurried silhouette behind for the Morningstar Resistance to see before ducking into a small outbuilding.
“Be careful.”
Morningstar’s leader wore a grave expression. Along the way, he had seen far too many mangled bodies.
The more worried he became about this operation, the angrier he became as well.
Creak…
The instant the door was pushed open, three gun barrels suddenly poked inside and went rat-tat-tat.
At that moment, Zhou Jieyu, who was hiding in the inner room, immediately covered her head and shouted, “Don’t kill me, don’t kill me, I’m innocent!”
There’s someone else here?
Morningstar’s leader’s expression sharpened. He signaled to his subordinates and carefully walked inside.
“One.”
Zhou Jieyu huddled in the corner, “shiver, shiver.”
“Two, three, four…”
“Who are you?” Morningstar’s leader shouted as he pointed his gun at her.
“Five, six.”
No more, but that was close enough.
Zhou Jieyu swiftly turned her back, yanked the pin, and dropped flat onto the floor.
Her brows knit tightly. Though her movements flowed in one smooth motion, she still instinctively felt scared.
Gods and demons, protect me.

“Not good, it’s a suicide attacker.”
The words had barely fallen.
Boom boom boom!
Within that cramped space, the instant release of energy, the blinding flash, the piercing sonic shock, and the flying shrapnel
blew everything to pieces, living or not, even those standing outside.
“Points +10.”
At that moment, the instance narration prompt sounded incomparably pleasant to Zhou Jieyu’s ears.
Although her consciousness had been temporarily stripped away, her emotional fluctuations were still full of joy.
She could not help but sigh inwardly:
I, Zhou Jieyu, am a hero among players too!
Hahaha. Even if I died the same way as my brother, I still earned 10 points.
Now I can go out and brag again!
In a small space, Leading the Charge, who had been bored enough to count stars, suddenly noticed Zhou Jieyu appear beside him.
“Huh, you died too!” Leading the Charge said.
Zhou Jieyu turned her head and saw that it was Leading the Charge. Her face immediately lit up with a smile. “Big bro! Let me tell you…”
…
“Attention. The sixth wave of invasion is now officially beginning. Attention!”
“Only the last half hour remains.”
Anran checked the time, and her gaze suddenly swept over the number of survivors.
“One? Why is there only one person left?”
