Chapter 260: Reversal
Chapter 260: Reversal
Gabrielle suddenly reached from behind and touched Olivia’s arm, just as the latter’s eyes were about to shift into demonic pupils.
“Mom, you don’t need to do that.”
“Little Gabrielle?”
Gabrielle turned to look at Cress.
“Mother, can you reverse this place? I mean… turn the entire Holy Sanctum upside down.”
“This god is strong.”
Cress’s focus was exactly the same as Gabrielle’s. She too had been staring at the God of Sacred Feathers and had already noticed that it had been changing from the very beginning.
She thought for two seconds, then quickly nodded.
“I won’t be able to help you during that time.”
Gabrielle gave her mother a confident look. Cress understood at once.
“No problem~”
By now every stone statue had slowly risen from the ground again. Scarlet patterns covered their bodies. Their crowns had shattered, revealing ferocious eyes. Joints twisted and creaked, making them seem even more dangerous than before.
Letitia glanced at the attendant beside her and whispered something. The attendant understood immediately. She leapt up and in almost an instant landed on one of the statues. Using its force she jumped to the second, then the third, until she arrived directly in front of the God of Sacred Feathers.
The God of Sacred Feathers merely lifted a hand. Scarlet spikes erupted from the ground, perfectly predicting the girl’s path. She was about to be impaled.
At the critical moment she crushed another stone tablet at her waist and instantly returned to Letitia’s side.
“How was it?”
“The aura is special. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
Beneath the mask the attendant’s face seemed to show a look of surprise.
“Demon or god?” Letitia asked.
“I don’t know.” The attendant shook her head.
Olivia chanted under her breath. Stone pillars rose and lifted the ground beneath everyone’s feet, shooting them dozens of meters into the air until they nearly touched the ceiling. Isabella thrust her sword toward the ceiling. The same sword energy that had earlier sliced stone giants apart now struck as if water had hit rock—completely ineffective. Clearly the God of Sacred Feathers was behind it.
Hertitz retreated to Gabrielle’s side, using her body to shield her flank.
“Lady Gabrielle, please don’t leave our side. These giants…!”
The stone giants did not rush forward one after another to die. Instead they opened their enormous mouths just as before, gathering power to release beams of destructive energy.
Gabrielle was about to explain that she was no longer so weak when Isabella pulled her down.
“Wife, there’s no need for you to act yet.”
Gabrielle’s gaze returned to the silver sword in Isabella’s hand.
“Nn…”
To be honest, watching her own power being used so freely in Isabella’s hands still made her feel a little jealous. Didn’t this mean that for the sake of having a child she had truly become a burden?!
Isabella’s ability did not come from devouring, but from her understanding of Gabrielle’s power—though her Authority certainly played a part as well.
Seeing Isabella so confident, Gabrielle could only let it go.
“You take one side. I’ll take the other.”
Olivia and Isabella exchanged a glance and understood each other perfectly.
After the stone giants fired their death beams, Isabella released an even stronger wave of silver-white sword energy. Olivia summoned magic shields that reflected the force. Everyone else stayed protected behind the barriers and, for the moment, was not caught in the destructive power.
The outside world flickered between brilliant purple-red and pure black. Those brief few seconds stretched endlessly amid the shockwaves of the energy explosions.
When the smoke cleared, the giants still stood unharmed, already preparing to fire a second round of death beams.
“[Blazing Soul].”
Letitia had recovered. She pressed the orange-yellow bracelet on her right wrist. Magic particles wrapped around her entire arm. Metal plates and complex mechanical parts unfolded and assembled along her arm, transforming it into a two-meter-long cannon.
The cannon’s appearance resembled a chimney. Mechanical parts densely covered its surface, made especially conspicuous by the pink magic driving it.
Gabrielle froze for a moment. This was the second weapon besides “Soul Severing”—Blazing Soul.
Letitia lightly pressed a switch near her arm. After a short charge, a laser beam only one-tenth the thickness of the death beams shot out. Upon striking the first statue it began to split—one ray becoming two, then four, then eight… In just a few seconds it wove a pink spiderweb across the air.
In the blink of an eye the statues turned to ash, leaving only scattered debris on the ground.
“Hah… hah…”
Letitia’s face was deathly pale, as if using this weapon exacted an enormous price.
“It’s better not to use soul weapons casually. They require overdrawing a Heavenly Envoy’s body as the cost.”
Hertitz spoke while her own body swayed unsteadily, eyes half-closed as if she might collapse at any moment.
“Don’t… don’t lower your guard!”
Letitia’s gaze shifted to the God of Sacred Feathers. The curve of its mouth remained the same, yet the mockery in its eyes had partially transformed into anger, sending a chill down everyone’s spine.
At that moment the Holy Sanctum began to shake violently and collapse. Large fragments fell from above. The vast sky reappeared overhead.
The tremors grew stronger and stronger. This was not ordinary tectonic movement—it felt as if a giant were desperately shaking the entire land.
Everyone clearly saw uneven cracks spreading across the ground beneath their feet, as though something was trying to break free from under the floor. Olivia continued raising the stone pillars, lifting everyone a hundred meters into the air.
When the outside world came fully into view, even Gabrielle drew in a sharp breath.
As the ground shook, every building of former human civilization was torn apart like foam boxes. Ruins scattered everywhere, becoming part of the surging sand and gravel, rolling in endless gray-brown torrents within the vortex of this catastrophic disaster.
An apocalyptic calamity unfolded before their eyes.
At that moment Cress stood up. The golden cross behind her emitted a dazzling light.
“It’s over.”
Suddenly, every object within a thousand meters—including the still-trembling stone pillars, the tearing ground, and the strata beneath the canyons—froze completely still.
A few seconds later Cress raised one hand toward the sky, as if grasping something invisible, and slowly turned her wrist.
It was as if the entire world were being twisted and reversed by that vast power. Force gathered beneath everyone’s feet, suspending them in midair. As gravity tilted, the world itself flipped upside down with it.
In an instant the sky became the ground and the ground became the sky. Broken stones and ruined walls fell toward the sky. Only their own bodies remained as points of reference. Under the control of two gods, the world was nothing more than a toy.
It had succeeded.
The moment Cress finished speaking, Hertitz vanished. The attendant girl and Letitia disappeared one after another, leaving this chaotic barrier world.
Olivia and Cress exchanged a glance and left in succession.
Isabella looked at Gabrielle.
“Wife, aren’t you leaving?”
“Wait a little longer.”
