Chapter 263: Does Miss Liya Have a Method?

The morning sun was just right.

After seeing everyone off from the mansion, Morphis went to the maids’ workroom and found several sealing artifacts Olivia had left behind specifically to deal with Liya.

They were several silver coins.

On the surface they looked like ordinary currency decorations, yet they actually contained sealing magic specially prepared by Olivia.

Clutching the silver coins, she finished her final morning task of dumping out all the water in the laundry room, then deliberately avoided Philina’s work area and headed straight for the first floor.

She tightly gripped the Prayer Codex in her arms and stopped in the corridor to think.

After closing her eyes and pondering for a few seconds, Morphis finally walked toward the basement.

The basement was extremely empty, like a farm warehouse that had been completely looted.

There was a smell of damp earth in the air.

It was unclear whether the flow of mana had raised the temperature slightly, or whether the power released by that demon was colliding with the sealing magic every single moment.

Following Holy Queen Simona’s instructions, Morphis reached out and touched the wall, injecting mana into it.

Orange mana flowed along various complex patterns, illuminating the entire warehouse before finally circulating back to the starting point of the injection, forming a subtle and complex loop.

Olivia’s sealing techniques were the strongest among all Heavenly Oracle Envoys, and she also possessed near-perfect close-combat fighting skills.

Liya was no match for her.

“Looks like there’s no problem,” Morphis murmured.

This time Morphis had also come to see Liya.

After confirming once more that the seals were intact, Morphis walked toward the hidden underground staircase at the far end of the basement.

The moment she approached, the sealing magic circle on the ground began to rotate and twist.

Finally, as if by miracle, a rectangular gap appeared within the complex magic, and the hidden door at the gap opened with the help of magitech.

Morphis tightly gripped the Prayer Codex and descended the steps.

After only a dozen steps she arrived at a hidden private room.

Opening the metal door, she looked through the iron bars at the girl sitting on the bed, half-asleep.

“Isn’t it Simona?”

The girl—Liya—raised her head, swaying her tail as she looked at Morphis.

“I am Morphis, Miss Liya. It’s been a while.”

“So it’s you~”

Liya smiled warmly and stretched.

The pair of wings behind her, slightly wider than her armspan, trembled as they unfolded, appearing somewhat alluring.

Morphis noticed that although Liya had no authority to leave this room, her body was extremely clean.

Could it be that Miss Simona used magic to clean her body every day?

It seemed Miss Simona genuinely hoped from the bottom of her heart that Liya would one day recover her rationality.

Yet the moment she met those demonic eyes, Morphis felt a scalding stream of blood boiling and flowing through her body.

Without realizing it, Morphis’s eyes also turned demonic.

The concealment magic Philina had taught her seemed to lose all effect at this very moment.

“What did you do to me?”

Morphis watched Liya warily.

Without noticing, a pair of horns had grown on her head.

Liya only smiled at her face, crossed one leg over the other, and rested her chin on her hand, as if admiring a cute work of art.

Being stared at for so long finally made Morphis a little embarrassed.

“What are you doing?”

Liya did not respond to the reason for her rudeness and simply shook her head.

“Simona already came once a little after five. There’s no need to come take care of me now.”

“I didn’t come to take care of you, Liya.”

“Then may I ask what Miss Morphis needs from me?”

Morphis hesitated for a moment.

She had prepared the next words for a long time.

“If a Heavenly Oracle Envoy is demonized, is there still a chance of being saved? I mean a method of purification. I feel Miss Liya should know quite a lot.”

“Saved? So you’ve come to ask a Heavenly Oracle Envoy who long ago fell into becoming a demon a question like this? Then of course I want you all to become the same kind as me~”

Liya said with a smile.

“Cute little Morphis~ I can answer your question. It is possible for a Heavenly Oracle Envoy to purify a demon’s curse, but purifying the shadows within the body is probably impossible.”

“Shadows…”

After hearing that word, the worry on Morphis’s face became even more obvious.

“What would happen?”

“Shadows are the authority of the Evil God that erodes the soul. Once completely eroded, one becomes a slave of the Evil God. The demonization curse is merely a way to turn you into a demon that is convenient for the Evil God to control.”

“As you are now, are you not an apostle?”

“Haha~”

Liya seemed to remember something. Her gaze shifted slightly upward toward the ceiling.

“Who knows?”

“What do you mean? If Miss Liya had truly become an apostle, then you shouldn’t still retain your own consciousness, right? Therefore both you and Philina still have a chance of being saved.”

“Most of Philina’s mana has already turned into dark mana. I don’t dare let her participate in any combat operations. If she were exposed… an apostle shouldn’t be as simple as merely having the appearance of an ordinary demon. Moreover, Creis has not treated Liya as a threat and eliminated her.”

Morphis’s voice grew louder. She walked to a position half a meter away from the iron bars, her face filled with excitement.

She knew that if Liya were truly an apostle of the Evil God…

Compared to imprisoning her, Simona seemed more like she was caring for someone who had been infected by shadows.

All the signs indicated that Liya still had the possibility of being saved.

Philina must be the same.

“But… why? What exactly happened in the past?”

“Many things happened.” Liya continued her topic.

“I was the Heavenly Oracle Envoy who followed Lady Gabriella to the very end. I once witnessed her end—her death.”

“Why? Wasn’t the final battle a victory for humanity? Was Lady Gabriella also killed by the Evil God?”

“Of course Lady Gabriella won. It’s just that Lady Gabriella… she…”

At this point Liya’s voice stopped. She did not continue the topic.

“I only wanted to follow Lady Gabriella and complete her will—her wish.”

Liya smiled.

“Don’t worry. Even if the fact that Philina has been infected becomes known to Gabriella and Olivia, they will not raise a hand against you… Lady Gabriella will treat every Heavenly Oracle Envoy with leniency.”

“But…”

“If you truly want to purify Philina’s body, then just bring me to see her.”

Liya stroked her chin, then suddenly remembered she was still a prisoner, and so corrected herself.

“Or you can bring her here instead.”

“Does Miss Liya have a method?” Morphis asked doubtfully.

“I can try to absorb the dark mana inside her body, or share the shadows. That way she might be able to escape the troubles of demonization.”

Liya’s attitude was unusually serious.
