Chapter 270: The Extinguished One (3)

“What a boring question.”

For some reason Gabriella had asked such a boring question.

Lartomia’s voice carried an air of incomprehension, as if she completely…

“I am a god-slayer. In other words, the current you has lost your memories.”

Gabriella gave a bitter smile.

“Indeed. We’ve run into trouble. If your mentality is stable, then I’ll just ask. To be honest, though, our conversation is meaningless, because this is only talking to myself.”

Lartomia remained silent for a long time.

Gabriella could clearly hear the sound of the flames burning, the sound of houses collapsing, the sound of brick walls cracking, and the sound of heartbeats.

The heartbeats of both her and Lartomia.

“Gabriella.”

A few minutes later, or rather three minutes later within the dream, Lartomia finally spoke.

“I have no need to create a god. There are only two things I must do—kill all the Heavenly Oracle Envoys, kill the Celestial God, and kill the Evil God. This world should be ruled by humanity itself… even if it leads to destruction, that is still humanity’s own choice.”

Lartomia finally turned her head and met the gaze of Gabriella, who had turned at the exact same moment.

“This is… [Dignity]. Why?”

Her eyes were extremely firm. The entire person had transformed from an enemy into a wise mentor and friend, the earnest manner leaving Gabriella somewhat moved.

“Humanity originally follows the order of society, yet order is merely one of the bindings that restrain human laws. The Celestial God and all the gods are wrong. They believe order stands above everything, yet they ignore the most fundamental existence of development. What if humanity could develop to the [Fourth Stage]?”

“It’s difficult.” Lartomia shook her head.

“At present I have never heard of humans from any plane becoming that strong.”

“You seem to have become more willing to accept new things.”

Lartomia smiled. That gaze no longer looked as if she wanted to swallow Gabriella alive.

It was as if all the surrounding flames had frozen within that smile.

Gabriella stared for a long time at the smile on Lartomia’s face, not knowing what sound she ought to make.

After all, Lartomia’s appearance was almost identical to Loli’s. Whether it was an illusion or not, even her personality was rather similar.

She walked in front of Gabriella. The two faced each other, observing each other’s eyes.

She felt the dream would soon end, so she continued explaining.

“After the war with the Evil God, humanity experienced the Era of the Evil Tree, the Era of Destruction, and the Era of Recovery. Right now humanity is still in the first stage. Creis has awakened, and the Heavenly Oracle Envoys have reincarnated.”

“During the almost completely blank Era of Destruction, humanity was ruled by a being called the [God of Holy Feathers]. That is not some wild fantasy of humanity, but a real and existing danger. Her power is even slightly stronger than that of the Celestial God, Creis.”

“Lartomia… or rather, the past me, can you answer this question for me? If the God of Holy Feathers is connected to the Era of Heavenly Oracle, then who exactly is she? Or rather, who could possibly have created such a god?”

At this Lartomia shook her head.

“I don’t know. What I understand is perhaps even less than what you do.”

“Sorry.”

“Are you apologizing to yourself?”

“Just take it as that.” Gabriella shook her head.

She also knew that Lartomia perhaps did not know that much. The reason she asked so many questions was precisely because Gabriella suspected that the God of Holy Feathers was herself.

In the past, for the sake of resurrecting the Evil God, she had planted the Evil Tree and created the demon race.

Yet everything that followed—including the creation of the apostles, and even the God of Holy Feathers—were those also her masterpieces?

If Lartomia was a projection of a portion of past memories, then she perhaps ought to know something as well.

Suddenly a change occurred.

The flames stopped burning. The surrounding ruins began to automatically repair themselves as if data restoration had suddenly formatted them. The scene of destruction gradually disappeared, replaced by a war that had never occurred and a towering castle.

The giant that had been pierced by tentacles not far from Lartomia stood up, then stepped backward at extreme speed.

At this moment the starry sky was brilliant and gorgeous, and behind them it had transformed into a beautiful street scene.

Lartomia could also see all of this happening.

Her body and the surrounding scenery began to undergo the same changes.

In the true history there simply did not exist a destroyed empty city.

The battle between Gabriella and Lartomia had indeed existed. Everything had once happened and had indeed taken place here.

Yet the process was different.

Psssh—!

Gabriella could not control her own hands. She watched with her own eyes as her silver-white sword pierced through Lartomia’s body.

“Looks like you still won this battle. How hateful. Even in reality it seems I am not your opponent.”

Lartomia knelt on the ground, the corners of her mouth lifting. That gaze seemed to have seen through everything.

Gabriella froze.

“I…”

“Don’t worry. I won’t die from a light wound like this. Who knows, in the future we might fight a few more times. It’s not over yet~”

She smiled, and softly muttered “It was only a sneak attack.”

As if the dream were about to end, Lartomia pretended to cough.

At that moment a crack tore open in the sky. The ringing in Gabriella’s ears made it difficult for her to concentrate.

The more carefully she listened to Lartomia’s words, the more her head spun.

In reality the sun had already risen.

“If you want to seek my help, then go find a sword.”

“Huh?”

“If there is something I want to do, it would definitely be that kind of thing… That sword is definitely not a sword that has been gorgeously decorated. It is a plain and unadorned sword, with no features at all—just a sword.”

Gabriella’s pupils suddenly contracted.

A weapon she was all too familiar with immediately appeared in her mind.

“What?!”

“Go find it, then awaken it.”

The wound on Lartomia’s body disappeared. Everything within the dream disappeared. Within the pure white space only Gabriella and Lartomia remained, looking at each other.

Her expression was exactly the same as Loli’s.

“Of course, I know you have already succeeded.”

“Huh?!”

She seemed to still be combing her own hair. Sunlight slanted across the cool silk bedding and left a streak of light.

She had woken up.

Gabriella suddenly opened her eyes.

“Wife, wife?” Isabella stood beside Gabriella.

“Did you have another dream?”

“Mm.”

Gabriella nodded.

“This time it was about Lartomia.”

“Is that so? Did something happen between the two of you?”

Gabriella suddenly seemed to remember something and immediately began examining the back of her right hand.

The sword scar that should have existed there had already disappeared.

“Wait?!”

Gabriella instinctively touched her lower abdomen.

It couldn’t be…
