"Zayn, I don't want to feel like your prisoner anymore".
"If I let you out of this room, you'll escape". His teeth were gritting together, he was frustrated, Liam could tell.
"I thought you loved me". The card was layed down in front of Zayn. Of course he loved Liam, but he was afraid he'd escape. He was afraid Liam was only using him. That as soon as he let him out of this room, he'd make a run for it. He was pretty sure Liam didn't exactly trust him. He wanted Liam to love him but he also wanted Liam to stay forever. The decision was hard.
"I do, you know that, I just don't want you to run away from me".
Liam hesitated. "I love you Zayn, of course I'm not going to escape or run away from you. I'm not going anywhere Zayn, all I'm asking you is that you don't keep me as your prisoner anymore. That doesn't mean I'm going anywhere."
And his words seemed sincere. They looked sincere. they sounded sincere. But Zayn was having a hard time grasping this. He didn't know, he wasn't sure, if he was supposed to be happy, excited, or if he was supposed to question how on earth Liam would love a man like him. And so quickly too. Yes it has been awhile since he's first kidnapped him, it's been a long while, but it takes time to love someone. Just like it took time for Zayn to love Liam. Granted, not a long time, but for Liam is should be longer. I mean, Zayn did kidnap him.
Zayn just wasn't sure. Was it wrong that he was questioning Liam's love for him? He trusts Liam, he does. But, not when it comes to freedom, he doesn't. Liam could very well be lying. For all Zayn knows, Liam could have taken acting lessons or something of the sort.
And that was the thing, Zayn was supposed to know. He's been watching him for God knows how long. He's supposed to know everything there is to about Liam. But he doesn't, and Zayn doesn't know if he's supposed to glad that he isn't a complete creeper, or a bit disappointed that he isn't a complete creeper.
"How am I supposed to know you're not lying to me. How do I know you're telling the truth about loving me? How do I trust someone like you when you've gone and escaped before. I don't mean to question you but it's hard to believe you or give you another chance when I've been betrayed by you. You're confusing me Liam."
"I know and I'm sorry, But just give me another chance. Please Zayn, I promise."
"Promises are meant to be broken, are they not?"
"I love you" That was it for Zayn. Just those three words. Hearing them again gave him some reassurance. He stands up, takes Liam's hand, and goes up to the locked door. He pauses with his hand on the door knob for a mere second. He breathes, because he's ready but then he's not ready, if that makes sense.
The door opens, and Liam grins at Zayn. It's a true one, that Zayn can tell, because it seems to reach his eyes. That gesture, just alone, makes Zayn let go of Liam's hand to show that he trusts him enough to just follow him.
Zayn was ahead, and he looks like he's going to the kitchen.
The timing was just right. Zayn was leading him to the kitchen. The kitchen is almost right by the door, and if Liam can do this right, he can escape, make a run for it, leave, for good this time.
Zayn was totally unaware of Liam's hesitation, he kept going, thinking Liam was right on his heels behind him. Oh how wrong he was. When Zayn stepped into the kitchen, Liam dashed towards the door. He needed to do this fast.
He unlocked the locks quickly but quietly before running out into the air. The fresh air. Zayn started calling for him to come back once he noticed the door was open, that Liam again was escaping from his grasp. And Liam would be lying if he said that Zayn didn't sound heart broken when he called for him.
Liam only ran faster. he did feel a little guilty because maybe during the time he was making Zayn believe he loved him, he may have grown feelings for him too. It was weird. But he needed to leave. Go somewhere. He liked Zayn, he really did. And he needed to go before that little crush he'd come to have grew into something more. He really would love Zayn then.
He couldn't think of Zayn's feelings right now. Let the guilt wash over him later. Then he can regret the choices he made. Right now, all he could think about was 'Run. Run. Run.' And he didn't even look back to see Zayn's broken face as he stood in the doorway and watched Liam go.
Liam awoke with a start. He looked around at his surroundings only to realize he's still in Zayn's home. The dream felt so real. It all felt so real. Liam was out of breath too like he would be if he was running.
The thing though is that Liam wished it was real, but at the same time, he's glad it was only a dream. He's developed feelings for Zayn and he doesn't want to leave him, but like in his dream, if he doesn't leave, he'll start to love Zayn. And Liam doesn't think he can grasp onto that idea, it still scares him that he even likes a guy. Love? that's on a whole other level.
Just then, Zayn decides to come in the room. Leaving Liam with no choice but to act out on his dream and try to escape.
"Zayn, I don't want to feel like your prisoner anymore". Zayn looks appalled. Where on earth had that come from. Just the other day, Liam couldn't even bare to look at him.
"Don't think I don't know that If I let you out of this room, you'll escape". His teeth were gritting together. he was frustrated. Zayn had to hold up. Whatever Liam was trying to do, wasn't going to work. He had to make sure of that. If he gave in, Liam would just escape. Zayn wasn't stupid, Liam should know that.
"I thought you loved me". Liam was using the same tactics he did in his dream. He had to do this. Even if it felt wrong. He had to do this. And just like that, the card was layed down in front of Zayn. His whole tough facade was losing its grip. Of course Zayn loved Liam, Liam knew that. But he should also know that Zayn doesn't want to let him go. Liam didn't love him, he knew that. He doesn't want to risk Liam running away from him.
"I do, you know that, I just don't want you to run away from me like I know you will". Zayn was just going to be honest with Liam, he wanted him to stop asking so that Zayn himself won't get hurt.
Almost everything was falling into place like it was in the dream, all Liam had to do was say the responses he should and Zayn would say almost the exact same thing.
Just like the dream, Liam hesitated in a fake way. "I love you Zayn. of course I'm not going to escape or run away from you. I'm not going anywhere Zayn, all I'm asking you is that you don't keep me as your prisoner anymore. That doesn't mean I'm going anywhere." Liam was trying his best to be sincere.
And to Zayn, they did seem sincere. It looked sincere. It sounded sincere. Zayn was having a hard time grasping this. Why would someone like Liam love a man like him. And he couldn't possibly love him that fast either. Yes, Liam has been kept there for awhile, a long while at that. But he practically hated Zayn. he was scared of him. How could he change his mind like that? How did he change his mind like that?
Was it exactly wrong for Zayn to be questioning Liam's love for him? Well it definitely shouldn't be wrong when you don't trust the person. Actually trust isn't the right word to use for Liam. more like he didn't believe Liam. Because Zayn trusted him, he did. When it came to freedom on the other hand, he didn't. It was hard to. especially when Liam has betrayed him before.
The decision was hard. Really hard at that. Liam could have taken acting lessons for all he knew. Though it did bother him that he didn't know. He wasn't even sure of anything anymore. He isn't sure if he's glad that he's not a complete and utter creep or if he's disappointed that he's not. Either way, he doesn't know.
"You're really confusing me Liam. How am I supposed to know that you're not lying to me? About everything? About loving me? It's hard to know that you're telling the truth when you've gone and escaped before. I know I'm questioning you and I really don't mean to but it's hard to believe anything you say when you have betrayed me before. I don't want to be hurt again."
"I know and I'm sorry, But just give me another chance. Please Zayn, I promise."
"Promises are meant to be broken, do you know that?"
"I love you". That was totally it for Zayn. Screw holding up. Liam Payne just said he loved him. Hearing it for the second time gave him some reassurance that maybe, just maybe, Liam wasn't lying. That he was telling the truth. Zayn stands up, holding his hands out for Liam to take. Liam takes it without hesitation and he leads them to the door.
He pauses with his hand on the door knob for a mere second, like he did in Liam's dream. He breathes, realizing that this is real. That he's actually taking a chance and hoping that Liam won't run. He's ready but he's not ready and it may not make sense but it does to Zayn.
The door opens and Liam grins at Zayn. It's a pure one. But only because Liam knows what's about to happen. He knows he'll escape, well, hope he'll escape anyway. Zayn lets go of Liam's hand, so Liam knows that he trusts him now, just enough for him to follow him.
Zayn went ahead, he's making his way to the kitchen like the dream and Liam couldn't be any happier about that.
The timing was right. Zayn was leading him to the kitchen and if Liam can literally follow his dream, he can make it to freedom. To leave for good and hopefully he won't be found again.
Zayn was totally unaware of Liam's decisions. He thought Liam wasn't going anywhere. That'd he'd stay with him. That he was right behind him. He was wrong. Oh, he was dead wrong. Then Zayn stepped into the kitchen, and Liam dashed towards the door. He needed to do this extra fast.
He unlocked the locks quickly but not caring if it was quietly or not. He didn't have time for that. Zayn could turn around any second now. Liam opened the door. he was free. He was so free, and he almost didn't have a care in the world. Almost.
Zayn called for him, heart broken, now noticing that Liam lied. He broke the promise like it was meant to be. He betrayed him once again. Liam didn't listen though, he only ran. Ran as fast as his feet could carry him.
Liam was guilty. He cared for Zayn, he liked him. But if he stayed even longer, he'd start to realize soon that he loved him, and he couldn't have that happen. Liam was scared. that's all he was. So he tried to ignore his feelings for Zayn now. Tried to block out Zayn's pleading cries that only seemed to get louder the farther he got.
He decides he'll let regret wash over him later. But the regret starts to roll in sooner when he slows down only to notice a big heavy man a few yards in front of him. The man looks out of it. Liam's not sure if the man is drunk or high or if that's how he looks on a daily basis.
But the man looked creepy. And he was staring right at Liam too. Liam couldn't back away. his feet were stuck like the little bitches they were. Not only that, but if he went back, then he'd be with Zayn. If he stayed, he'd probably get raped.
And oh, how right liam was. The man came so close to Liam that Liam didn't have any choice but to stay right where he was because if he moved, the man would catch him anyways.
"hey, don't you look pretty, how bout you come to my place hmm?" His breath smelled of stale cheese crackers. Liam cringed but tried to seem tough.
"I'm a grown ass man not some little child you can prey on" He puffed out his chest a little for affect. He didn't want to get raped. No, not today. Not ever. Looking back on it, this man made Liam want to go back to Zayn and let him have his way with him.
"A smart Alec huh?" The man gripped onto Liam's arm, pulling with less than half of his might. Still, Liam almost fell over on his face from the force the man caused.
The man started to kiss Liam right there, his chapped rugged and bloody lips coming into contact with Liam's soft plump ones. Liam gagged from the putrid odor that radiated off from the man who at least had to be in his fifties.
Then the man started dragging him off to God knows where. Probably back to his place like he said.
"HEY!" That definitely did not come from the man, in fact Liam knew that voice. The same voice form the person he was trying to run away from. But he was glad that Zayn was coming to his rescue.
The man turned around as well as Liam, to see what Zayn was doing. "Let him go", Zayn didn't seem scared in the slightest. "Or what Aladdin?" The man snickered at his own joke that wasn't even funny in the least bit.
At that point, Zayn took a gun out from behind his back that he seemed to have been holding this entire time. In no time, Liam felt nothing on his wrist as he turned around only to see the man running from his life. It was probably the quickest that man had ever run.
Liam looked back at Zayn, who was already looking at him. His eyes were pleading, the gun already lowered. Zayns stepped forward a little with his other hand reached out, waiting for Liam to take it so they could go back together.
And then Liam fled, just like the man.
