Chapter 14.2
Chapter 14.2
Summer Homework (2)
The complicated parts were indeed hard to understand.
But you made a mistake in factoring and simplifying, and that’s something I can understand.
Mu Le raised her head and asked him seriously, “Why does 3 plus 7 equal 9?”
Kong Yu’an was stunned, thinking she was playing some kind of brain teaser: “…Why?”
Mu Le: “…”
With his intelligence, he would definitely crash if he tried to solve a brain teaser.
“I don’t know.” Mu Le pointed at his math homework, “Didn’t you write it?”
Kong Yu’an: “?”
He lowered his head and carefully checked his factoring.
Finally, in a seemingly insignificant corner of the first half, he saw a segment that said 2y·(3x+7x).
In the next step, it directly became 2y·9x.
Kong Yu’an: “…” Why did that happen?
Because of this step, all of his simplification and calculations afterward were wrong. He had wasted his effort.
Kong Yu’an frustratedly ran his fingers through his hair, then turned to look at Mu Le: “How did you figure it out!?”
“…Maybe because,” Mu Le’s voice was small, “I have eyes?”
Kong Yu’an: “…”
This kid was terrifying.
He continued with his homework, but whenever Mu Le looked at his screen, he became extremely nervous, afraid that he had made a mistake and would be laughed at by a little brat.
In Kong Yu’an’s mind, Mu Le had become synonymous with a prodigy.
He even thought she was a newly developed artificial intelligence by the military, being raised and observed by Gu Mingyuan.
Mu Le watched as he became slower in completing his work, and she realized it was almost time for dinner.
This little peacock’s progress on his math homework… he had only reached page 3 out of 27.
An entire summer, a 27-page document for the assignment. He had only completed the third page so far.
Once again, when Gu Mingyuan left the study, Mu Le quietly poked her head out and asked him, “Why don’t you copy from your classmates?”
Kong Yu’an: “…???”
“Is it because no one else has done it?” As soon as Mu Le said this, she felt it was highly likely and silently affirmed it in her mind.
But there should always be a few students who do their homework in advance in a class.
Assignments to copy were like gold in a sandbox. As long as you were willing to look, you would find them.
“You brat. Our teachers at the Capital University High School don’t fall for tricks so easily.” Kong Yu’an leaned over to her, also lowering his voice, muttering, “Are you trying to trick me into copying your homework and then frame me?”
Mu Le: “…Why would you think that of me?”
Kong Yu’an snorted, “With your math skills, your thought process must be extraordinary.”
Mu Le calmly reminded him, “Three plus seven equals ten is elementary school math.”
Kong Yu’an: “…………”
Too embarrassing.
Being frequently humiliated in math by such a pink little kid.
Fortunately, this kid was still young.
By the time she reached middle school, he would probably have already graduated from the upper school.
Otherwise, if he became her classmate, he would be driven to an early death by frustration.
Perhaps due to his unresolved resentment, Kong Yu’an’s speed in completing his homework increased.
Mu Le noticed some obvious mistakes.
She resisted the urge to point them out.
But Kong Yu’an thought for a moment and leaned over to ask her again, “What grade are you in?”
“I don’t know…” Gu Mingyuan hadn’t told her the results of the placement test. “Maybe third grade?”
Kong Yu’an counted on his fingers. Their elementary school had seven grades, and middle school had five grades. He was in his first year of middle school. Mu Le was only in third grade, which meant that when Mu Le entered middle school, he would have just graduated.
…That was a close call.
Just as he finished calculating, Gu Mingyuan pushed the door open.
Unprepared, he caught sight of two kids with their heads close together, whispering secretly.
Mu Le: “…”
Oh no, she was caught disturbing a middle school student doing homework.
Mu Le slowly backed away, trying to pretend like nothing happened.
However, Gu Mingyuan stared at her and whispered, “Le Le, come out for a moment.”
Mu Le: “…”
This was so infuriating. It was like when two kids were caught talking in class, and the teacher only punished one of them.
Mu Le followed Gu Mingyuan to the doorway.
Gu Mingyuan was contemplating how to talk to Mu Le about something when he turned his head and saw Mu Le standing behind him with her head lowered, looking like she had made a mistake and was caught, feeling wronged but afraid to speak.
Originally, he had no intention of reproaching her. Gu Mingyuan said, “…”
The little one always liked to confidently charm her way out of situations, so when she looked dejected like this, it must mean she had really done something wrong.
But no one had told her not to talk to Kong Yu’an. What other mistake could she have made?
…Gu Mingyuan’s limited imagination couldn’t fathom that Mu Le would persuade a middle school student to copy homework from others.
He lowered his head and asked Mu Le, “Are you upset?”
Mu Le obediently stuck to her principle of pretending like nothing happened, “Hmm? No, not at all.”
Gu Mingyuan didn’t doubt her.
He took out a small e-book device from his pocket and asked Mu Le, “Do you like math?”
This time, Mu Le was truly stunned. “What?”
“For the following conversation, if there’s anything you don’t understand, feel free to ask,” Gu Mingyuan said.
Mu Le nodded.
“I will have to go to the Capital University next month, and I won’t be able to take care of you all the time. Now, the Capital University High School offers an extracurricular program for children. If you pass the exam, you can attend school there. We can move and live near the Capital University,” Gu Mingyuan slowly explained.
Mu Le: “…”
Wait, wait a minute.
Wasn’t this grade skipping a bit too fast?
