Chapter 171: Revealing the truth
Chapter 171: Revealing the truth
The person’s confidence overshadowed Dr. Yang’s, revealing their undeniable strength. Xie Wanying realised Mr. Fu had finished examining the patient and had turned his gaze towards her, making her wonder if he had overheard her and her classmates whispering. Subsequently, she and Zhao Zhaowei fell silent.
“Let’s take the patient to the CT room,” Dr. Yang suggested, deeming it safer for the nurse to accompany the patient.
As the patient left the resuscitation room, the others followed suit. Zhao Zhaowei noticed that Xie Wanying hadn’t moved, and inquired, “Aren’t you leaving, Yingying?”
Xie Wanying, usually unflappable, found herself sweating nervously. This was a feeling she hadn’t experienced even after her rebirth. She had faced exams without fear and showed no apprehension when rescuing the patient earlier, but now she was on edge.
Initially thinking the teacher’s gaze was due to their private conversation, she realised otherwise. Teacher Fu’s intense stare felt as sharp as a scalpel, reminiscent of eagle-grabs-chicks game (children’s game).
“What’s going on?” Dr. Jin turned upon hearing Zhao Zhaowei’s question, noticing the unusual tension in the room.
Dr. Lin followed and halted, spotting Fu Xinheng’s unease. Slowly, it became clear to everyone that Xie Wanying was the one whom Fu Xinheng was fixated on, his narrowed eyes locked onto her.
Dr. Jin and Dr. Lin exchanged concerned looks. Could it be that the robot had awakened and now regretted not approving of the intern’s initial on-site first aid?
Zhao Zhaowei held his breath, his heart racing as he watched Xie Wanying. He could sense that Xie was about to face the consequences of her actions from the teacher.
Remembering his grandfather’s warnings about the terrifying nature of the robot, Zhao Zhaowei became increasingly anxious for Xie Wanying.
“Dr. Fu,” Dr. Jin approached Fu Xinheng, attempting to diffuse the tension and caution him against crossing any boundaries. He wanted to convey that allowing the student to provide first aid had been his decision too.
To everyone’s surprise, Fu Xinheng abruptly moved forward, walking right past her.
“Dr. Fu, you—” Dr. Jin turned quickly, worried about what Fu Xinheng might do to the student.
Sure enough, Fu Xin Heng grabbed Xie Wanying’s left wrist.
Xie WanYing’s thoughts raced as she inwardly panicked. She hadn’t expected him to possess such an intense gaze that seemed capable of uncovering her secrets.
“What are you after?” Dr. Jin hurried over to confront Fu Xinheng.
Dr. Lin joined them, equally concerned about the unfolding situation.
Nervous nurses gathered around, watching the scene unfold.
“You’re still pretending?” Fu Xinheng’s icy tone conveyed a single word.
Beside Xie WanYing, the people present felt like they were enveloped in confusion.
Xie Wanying hadn’t anticipated that this man would reveal her secret in front of everyone.
“What’s she pretending?” Dr. Jin challenged Fu Xinheng’s statement. “Are you suggesting she pretended to be composed? Dr. Lin and I were impressed by her composure and effective first aid. Didn’t the patient’s condition improve?”
“No,” Dr. Lin exclaimed, spotting a stain of blood on the cuff behind Fu Xinheng’s wrist as he turned toward Xie Wan Ying. Perplexed, he questioned, “Why is there blood on her cuff?”
Astonished, Dr. Jin turned around abruptly, almost letting out a shout.
Concealing the bloodied side behind her back, Xie Wanying believed she had successfully kept it hidden, as no one had noticed during their journey. After all, the faint trace of blood on the sleeve seam required keen observation to be detected. She couldn’t fathom how this man had managed to spot her anomaly.
