Afterword
WELL, IT LOOKS LIKE the slow life has come to a brutal end. (Anyway, time for an introduction.)
Hello, this is kiki, the author of Roll Over and Die: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with my Love and Cursed Sword. Thanks for picking up Volume 3.
How did you find Chapter 4, the Necromancy arc? There were a lot of words here that never even appeared in the web version, and I’ve been throwing a lot of unsettling details into the story, so where it goes from here is anyone’s guess. Even I, as the author, am looking forward to where the story will take us!
Sunao Minakata’s manga version of the story is continuing along nicely, and it’s absolutely amazing. Flum is just so cool, and I love Milkit’s flat reactions in the beginning of the story! And Y’lla… Wow, she’s beautiful! Dein? What a jerk! I get annoyed every time I see him.
To be honest, a lot of rewriting was needed to get the first chapter in shape for a manga version. There are a lot of added scenes that didn’t appear in the online or book versions of the story, and the artist does an excellent job fleshing out Flum and Milkit’s interactions. It’s absolutely amazing, and I implore you to go read it!
And, once again, I realize just how hard it is to write an afterword. To kill time, I guess I’m left with the usual option: having myself interact with the characters.
GADHIO: “Hmph, you know, I’m really not good at these afterword things.”
TIA: “But at least it gives us a chance to talk, right, Gaddy?”
GADHIO: “You have a point there. I suppose I should thank the author for giving us this moment. Thank you, kiki!”
TIA: “See ya, kiki!”
This is what happens when desperation takes over.
Last but not least, I’d like to thank all those responsible for bringing this book into being.
Kinta once again came on board in Volume 3 to really bring all of these characters to life. Every time I saw the cover work or any of the art inserts, I would punch the air in glee at just how perfectly you captured the characters’ expressions. Thanks a ton.
Then of course there’s my editor, whom I’ve caused untold amounts of trouble with all my wordy passages and insistent requests. You’ve been an amazing help and really saved my hide. I really appreciate it.
And of course, there were the many other people working in publishing and you, my dear readers, who also deserve a lot of credit for making this book a reality.
I truly am in your debt.
I hope to see you around again if I’m granted the opportunity to write another book. Next time, we’ll be following the story of the Children arc!
