The next morning, though he hadn’t slept enough, Hikaru and Lavia had a proper breakfast and left the inn. Paula had already gone out to do volunteer healing work.

The capital was already bustling from early morning. Between the meal and the lively atmosphere, Hikaru felt himself fully wake up.

“All right. Around here.”

They made their way to the Sea Dragon Hall. A crowd had gathered, no doubt because news of last night’s incident had spread. If anything, the gawkers made things easier. Hikaru and Lavia blended into the crowd and approached the scene.

Members of the Peacekeepers directed traffic, blue scarves tied around their foreheads or arms to show their affiliation. The wall of the storage vault that held the auction items had blown open outward. The area was roped off so no one could enter.

“Damn. I hope the Sea Dragon doesn’t curse us for this.”
