Chapter 265: The One-Breadth Evasion Technique.

Time passed, and before long, Kael’s bike pulled up in front of the Sword Saint’s ancient mansion.

Just like the last time he had visited, the massive iron gate automatically opened as he approached. Kael rode through without slowing down, following the long driveway until the towering mansion came into view. He eventually brought the bike to a stop near the entrance and stepped off.

Unlike his previous visit, however, there was no Zoey waiting for him.

There was no sneak attack either.

Still, Kael wasn’t alone.

His senses picked up a faint presence hidden within the shadows near the entrance of the mansion. The presence was extremely well concealed, but Kael could still detect it.

A moment later, the shadows stirred.

Albert stepped out from within them, dressed in a dark robe.

He looked at Kael for a moment before letting out a quiet sigh.

"You and that sharp sense of yours. I was hiding even deeper than last time, yet you still detected me."

Kael shrugged.

"I was just lucky."𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Albert stared at him.

"As if."

He clearly didn’t believe him.

After a brief pause, Albert’s expression became more serious.

"This way. The Sword Saint is waiting for you inside."

"Sure. Lead the way."

Kael followed behind him as Albert entered the mansion.

The two walked through the familiar halls before eventually stopping in front of a towering reinforced metal door. Albert stood there for a moment without saying anything, seemingly giving the person on the other side time to know they had arrived.

Then he reached out and pushed the door open.

The heavy metal door released a deep groan as it slowly swung inward, revealing the spacious training chamber beyond.

At the center of the room sat the Sword Saint.

The old man was positioned in a lotus formation, his eyes closed and his breathing so calm that he almost seemed like a statue.

Kael stepped inside.

Albert remained by the entrance and closed the heavy door behind him.

The sound of the door locking into place echoed through the chamber, leaving Kael alone with the Sword Saint.

For several seconds, nothing happened. The Sword Saint remained completely still, and Kael didn’t speak either, choosing not to disturb whatever the Sword Saint was doing. He simply waited.

But just then, the old man’s eyes suddenly opened, and Kael’s danger sense flared at once.

His body reacted before his mind could even fully process what was happening.

He moved.

A brilliant streak of sword light pierced through the space where his body had been standing only a fraction of a second earlier.

The attack missed him by inches and slammed into the wall behind him.

Boom!

Golden runes instantly flared across the reinforced wall, forming intricate patterns that spread outward from the point of impact.

Kael’s eyes narrowed.

He recognized the runes.

Unlike before, the strange symbols no longer looked completely foreign to him.

His newly acquired Arcane Knowledge allowed him to understand their general meaning, although he was still far from truly comprehending the deeper essence contained within the runes themselves.

But before he could examine them any further, the Sword Saint spoke.

"Hmm."

The old man slowly rose from his lotus position.

"Your instincts and reaction speed have improved quite a bit."

Kael’s gaze returned to him.

"But your mobility and footwork haven’t improved nearly as much."

The Sword Saint stepped forward.

"So that will be today’s lesson."

He looked directly at Kael.

"Mobility."

Kael raised an eyebrow, staring at the Sword Saint, whose expression remained calm.

"Now, attack me with everything you’ve got."

Kael stared at him for a moment.

Well, it seemed there wasn’t going to be any exchange of pleasantries, but he didn’t mind. If the old man was willing to teach him something new, Kael had no reason to complain.

"Fine."

Kael lowered his center of gravity.

"Let’s see what I can learn."

The next instant, he charged.

His body shot forward, leading with a powerful punch aimed directly at the Sword Saint’s face, but the old man barely moved, simply tilting his body to the side. Kael’s fist passed within inches of his face.

Kael immediately followed up, his body twisting as another attack came from a different angle.

The Sword Saint shifted again, and Kael missed once more. But he was relentless, attacking again only to be met with another dodge, then another attack, then another dodge.

Every strike Kael threw landed close enough that it looked like the Sword Saint was barely avoiding them, yet not a single one managed to make contact.

Kael’s expression gradually became more serious.

What was this?

He could clearly tell the Sword Saint wasn’t using his full speed, in fact, the old man had intentionally lowered his speed to match Kael’s own but yet despite that, Kael still couldn’t land a single hit.

But Kael remained cool-headed. He knew the Sword Saint was a monster with far greater power and combat experience than his own, so this made sense. Still, his pride stirred, and even knowing that, he wanted to land a hit. Kael charged once again and threw another punch.

The Sword Saint leaned back just enough for the fist to pass over his chest, but Kael immediately stepped in and attacked again. The Sword Saint shifted half a step, and the strike missed once more.

Kael’s eyes narrowed, but just as he was about to attack again, the Sword Saint raised a hand to stop the fight.

"This..." the Sword Saint finally spoke, lowering his hand. "This is mobility. No matter how fast you are on a battlefield, there is always a chance that someone faster will appear."

His gaze drifted to Kael as he continued.

"Speed alone isn’t enough."

He stepped calmly to the side, as if to demonstrate it once more.

"You must learn to use the speed you already possess in the most efficient way possible. That is mobility."
