Chapter 15: Get Rid of Housekeeper Gu
Chapter 15: Get Rid of Housekeeper Gu
After Shen Jin finished speaking, the two fell into a prolonged silence.
Nobody knew how much time had passed before He Lian was snapped back to reality by his burnt cigarette stub burning his fingers. His thin lips trembled a few times before three stiff words popped out.
“Impossible.”
If things were truly as Shen Jin said, and he hadn’t been affected at all that night…
Wouldn’t that mean… he, He Lian, couldn’t even resist the temptation of a fool!
An utter humiliation!
Outrageous!
Absolutely impossible!
He suddenly grew agitated, picking up the report scattered near his feet, but the dense, small print on it proved too much for his patience, so he slammed it back onto the man sitting across from him!
“You’re talking bullshit! It was definitely a problem with that paint! Song Xueyan was plotting against me!” He Lian stood up. “I’m going to Yangcheng right now to hack that woman into a thousand pieces!”
Shen Jin: “That’s enough, stop throwing a tantrum!”
He Lian stood still, his chest heaving like rolling waves. The brewing rage within him made Shen Jin’s scalp go numb; he forcibly pushed He Lian back down into his seat and handed him a glass of water.
Who knew the man would snatch it and throw it directly onto the floor, the stainless-steel cup clattering loudly against the floor tiles.
“I have to make another trip to Yangcheng!”
“Heh, if you want Song Xueyan’s life, just send someone over directly,” Shen Jin adjusted his glasses. “It seems to me you’re just yearning for that Jiang Yu girl.”
The corners of He Lian’s mouth tightened, and only after a long pause did he squeeze out three words again.
“…You’re talking bullshit!”
“Then what are you getting angry for? You’ve lived for twenty-seven years—have there been few people plotting against you?” Shen Jin picked up the report and shook it in front of him. “Tricks as low-class as this are a dime a dozen for you. You never used to care, not to mention this time the other party was Song Xueyan, whom you admired so much.”
He Lian swept his wet hair aside impatiently, giving no reply.
The corner of Shen Jin’s mouth curled up slightly, as if on purpose: “Ah, I get it. You’re angry because you didn’t get to sleep with Song Xueyan, but had your prize snatched by Jiang Yu instead, right?”
The bridge of He Lian’s nose twitched fiercely: “Get lost!”
Shen Jin couldn’t be bothered to argue with him. He stood up, adjusting his collar: “Jingyue made such a scandal, so having you go to the Song family to break off the engagement could be considered giving them a slap in the face. I think we should just let the matter with Song Xueyan go—call it even. Either way, you slept with their sister, so you didn’t lose out.”
“And stop thinking about going to Yangcheng. If you hadn’t left this time, Xie Qingzhou wouldn’t have dared to act.”
“I’m talking to you, are you deaf?”
He Lian cast a sideways glance at him, practically killing him with his eyes: “Get lost.”
Shen Jin left with a sneer.
He Lian leaned his head back against the chair again, rubbing his neck irritably. The moment he thought about how he was actually physically drawn to a little fool, he felt an excruciating itch in his heart.
Walking into the bedroom, he tossed and turned on the bed, his mind completely filled with Jiang Yu.
And that endless, misty mountain.
Three times in one night.
Every single time was brimming with passion.
In the end, he simply got dressed, drove his off-road vehicle out of the camp, and sped furiously across the boundless yellow sand under the moonlight until the faint morning light broke and a soft red spread across the eastern sky.
He Lian stood on the roof of his car, stripped off his top, and opened his arms to take deep, ragged breaths against the strong wind.
Lowering his head, he cast a glance at his long-unsettled old friend.
He tilted his head back: “Fuck!”
In the wooden building, Su He was holding Jiang Yu’s dirty clothes, preparing to head downstairs, when she bumped straight into Housekeeper Gu coming up. She hurriedly put on her brightest smile: “Uncle Gu!”
Yet the smile didn’t reach her eyes.
A month and a half had passed since He Lian’s departure. Jiang Yu had only produced one painting, and Housekeeper Gu, holding Song Xueyan’s instructions as a golden command, came over every few days to harass Jiang Yu.
Seeing this old bastard, Su He couldn’t help but feel a surge of nausea inside.
Housekeeper Gu bypassed her, looking at Jiang Yu sitting on the floor obediently painting. The girl was hunched over, her fair neck like natural jade, completely exposed to his eyes.
Seeing Housekeeper Gu’s hand reaching upward, Su He hurriedly interrupted: “Uncle Gu, I heard the second branch came over for dinner again today. Isn’t the front courtyard busy?”
His mood ruined, Housekeeper Gu frowned and cast a glance at her, before stretching out a smile again, squatting down beside Jiang Yu, and wrapping his arm around her waist as he found the opportunity.
However, he didn’t dare make any large moves, terrified that Jiang Yu might resist.
“Miss A-Yu, how much longer for this last painting?”
A sour, foul breath washed over her face, yet Jiang Yu offered no reaction whatsoever, merely stabbing randomly at the board with a brush.
Housekeeper Gu stared at the girl’s exquisite profile, utterly reluctant to avert his eyes.
He would have never dared in the past.
But Jiang Yu didn’t have long to live.
Suddenly, Jiang Yu leaned a little closer to his side.
Housekeeper Gu froze for a moment. Turns out she was just leaning over to rinse her brush. Raising his eyebrows, he pressed his face closer, greedily inhaling her scent: “Miss A-Yu?”
Su He could truly no longer stand the sight of it, wishing she could take a knife and stab him to death from behind. With a fake smile, she said, “Uncle Gu, it should be about time for dinner in the front courtyard.”
Only then did Housekeeper Gu slap his thigh, hurriedly gesturing for her to walk out.
“Let’s go, let’s go, don’t delay.”
Su He complied, casting a glance back toward Jiang Yu.
The girl turned her body halfway toward her, her side face angled away as her drooping eyelashes slowly raised, revealing a cold, murderous glint in her eyes.
Su He understood instantly.
At the dining table, the Song brothers hadn’t eaten much, casually chatting about this and that. Song Xueyan hadn’t come, so the servants were all focusing on serving Su Xuning and Song Yuchu.
Housekeeper Gu placed a dish of braised beef beside Song Yuchu: “Young Master, try this.”
Su He also rushed to help dish out food for Song Yuchu beside him.
Song Yuchu remained expressionless.
As the two stepped back behind him, Su He stared at the back of the young man’s neck, building up her psychological courage before whispering softly to Housekeeper Gu as if in confidence: “Uncle Gu, what’s that smell on you?”
Unaware of what she meant, Housekeeper Gu lifted his sleeve and sniffed.
Su He: “Did you accidentally brush against the paint on Jiang Yu earlier?”
Housekeeper Gu’s movement of lowering his arm froze. Before he could react, the young man in front of him suddenly stood up, knocking his chair over in the process. To his horror, a hand violently grabbed him by his collar!
Su He was startled, taking a step backward.
A-Yu was right—this move really worked on Song Yuchu!
The several people at the table were also stunned by this sudden turn of events. Song Xun frowned: “Yuchu, the family is having a meal together—what are you doing?”
Deaf to everything else, Song Yuchu stared at Housekeeper Gu’s deathly pale face, leaning closer to sniff. His nasal cavity was instantly filled with that faint pine scent—identical to the one on Jiang Yu!
“Did you touch Jiang Yu?”
The young man’s eyes resembled those of a starving wolf, flashing with a demonic red light. Housekeeper Gu swallowed hard, instinctively shaking his head in denial: “No… Young Master Yuchu, I…”
“Who gave you permission to touch Jiang Yu?!”
Song Yuchu slammed Housekeeper Gu directly onto the floor, picked up a tilted chair nearby, and smashed it down on him, putting full strength into every single blow!
How dare he touch Jiang Yu!
He Lian was one thing, but even a housekeeper dared to covet A-Yu!
You dog!
Kill him!
Housekeeper Gu’s forehead split open, blood gushing down his face as he felt as if his bones were broken, wailing incessantly!
The group was thrown into helpless panic. Song Qian hurriedly called for people to pull him away, but the servants looked at each other—who dared step forward given Song Yuchu’s half-demonic state?
Wood splinters flew and blood splattered everywhere until the chair was smashed to pieces. Only then did Song Yuchu release his grip, ignoring the elders’ attempts to stop him in the hall as he walked toward the South Court, gasping for breath.
Song Xun stomped his feet in anxiety— this cursed brat!
Out of anyone to like, why did he have to fall for that lunatic!
Housekeeper Gu on the floor no longer looked human. Song Qian bit his teeth, speaking in disgust: “Send him to the hospital first.”
