Chapter 29: Say “He Lian”, I Want to Hear It
In the barracks on the other side, Zhuang Yumian and Jiang Yu were staring at each other.
The woman spoke in an ironclad tone of command: “Follow me.”
With that, she went up to the second floor.
Jiang Yu had no reason to refuse and could only follow behind.
On the stairs, the two walked one after the other. Jiang Yu looked up at Zhuang Yumian’s back.
So tall.
When standing next to He Lian during the day, she was only half a head shorter than him—probably around 185 centimeters tall.
Everything inside the barracks exuded a cold, mechanical atmosphere. Zhuang Yumian pulled open the bathroom door, revealing two separate cubicles inside. She looked down and glared at Jiang Yu: “Can you shower by yourself?”
Jiang Yu nodded.
Zhuang Yumian clearly didn’t believe her, clicking her tongue in impatience. She grabbed Jiang Yu’s shoulder and shoved her inward. The immense force caused Jiang Yu to stumble forward, slamming right into the hard door panel.
She knitted her brows, letting out a sharp gasp.
Such terrifying strength.
Zhuang Yumian shut the door heavily and said coldly from behind: “Take off your clothes and get in yourself.”
Jiang Yu didn’t want this person fussing over her either, so she quickly whispered: “I can… do it myself.”
As if ignoring this mosquito-faint voice entirely, Zhuang Yumian grabbed the back of Jiang Yu’s collar and tossed her into the stall. Before Jiang Yu could even regain her balance, she turned the water valve—piercingly cold water instantly poured down over Jiang Yu’s head!
Jolted by the shock, Jiang Yu shuddered, clutching her arms and biting her back teeth in secret.
So cold.
Zhuang Yumian: “Hurry up and take off your clothes!”
Suppressing the fire in her heart, Jiang Yu’s eyes turned sharp where no one could see. She pulled off the child’s hoodie He Lian had bought her over her head, gritting her teeth against the chill as she stood upright.
She couldn’t bring trouble to the people of the Citadel right now.
Judging by Zhuang Yumian’s attitude, the people here seemed to despise dead weight.
She didn’t want to be sent back again.
Zhuang Yumian looked down at Jiang Yu’s long, thick hair, a flash of disgust crossing her eyes. A little slip of a girl like this would definitely be eaten alive on the battlefield. She really didn’t know why the President had brought back a useless piece of trash.
She simply unhooked the showerhead, intending to soak all of Jiang Yu’s hair.
However, Jiang Yu had very thick hair, and the water couldn’t penetrate it easily.
Suppressing her temper, Zhuang Yumian gathered the hair in her hand and yanked it upward. A sharp, violent pain shot through Jiang Yu’s scalp; her jaws clamped tight instantly, and her fingers gripping the wall tiles turned white.
Yet, the person behind her made no further move.
A complex expression filled Zhuang Yumian’s eyes.
Jiang Yu looked fair and delicate on the surface, but her snowy skin was covered in numerous fine scars. Based on Zhuang Yumian’s years of combat experience, there were scratch marks, beatings, and even knife cuts and flame burns—every kind imaginable.
Zhuang Yumian paused, and her hand gripping the hair loosened.
Just as Jiang Yu was feeling suspicious, the cascading water gradually turned warm.
As the temperature inside the stall rose, Zhuang Yumian’s movements softened considerably. Though living in the military barracks year-round meant she still accidentally hurt Jiang Yu from time to time, Jiang Yu was already able to breathe a sigh of relief.
Rinsing off the soap bubbles, she dried herself.
Zhuang Yumian left for a moment and returned with one of her own T-shirts to hand to her. Just then, the honking of an off-road vehicle sounded from outside, and she hurriedly went downstairs.
Jiang Yu looked at the T-shirt, thinking to herself that it was way too big.
She was already as thin as a little mantis.
Oh well, it worked just fine as a dress.
Downstairs, when Zhuang Yumian saw He Lian stepping out of the vehicle in the courtyard, she subconsciously checked the time.
A normal patrol took three hours—it had only been forty minutes!
Ye Xun even tumbled straight out of the passenger seat, clutching his stomach and vomiting violently.
Ignoring him completely, He Lian walked straight into the barracks.
“Where’s Jiang Yu?”
Zhuang Yumian avoided answering, but the soft sound of footsteps came from the staircase.
He Lian glanced over.
Jiang Yu’s hair wasn’t blow-dried yet, clinging damply to her snow-white neck. When she looked toward him, her delicate face was clean and refined, appearing so soft it looked as though water could be squeezed out with a pinch.
The T-shirt she wore was far too oversized with a broad neckline, exposing her slender collarbones and half of her shoulder to the air. That tender, lustrous skin dazzled the man, leaving him completely stunned in place.
He Lian felt his pants were a bit tight.
That heat burned straight downward.
Ye Xun stumbled in, half-dead, only to be kicked back out by him.
“Go write the patrol logs!”
He Lian turned back: “You leave too.”
Zhuang Yumian frowned and said, “President, men and women are different. Let Jiang Yu sleep in my room tonight. I have a temporary emergency disaster bed there.”
He Lian lowered his brow.
Why had he never noticed how much of an obstacle Zhuang Yumian was before?
However… he couldn’t yet state publicly that he and Jiang Yu had already been intimate.
Noticing the foul atmosphere, Ye Xun gestured to Zhuang Yumian from behind. Seeing her ignore him, he had no choice but to drag her away by force, repeatedly urging, “Let’s go, let’s go. Sister Zhuang, even if you aren’t tired, the President is.”
Ye Xun even thoughtfully locked the door.
Only then did He Lian let out a deep breath. He hurried toward Jiang Yu, who was on the stairs. This time, giving the girl no room to refuse, he bent over and lifted her up in a ‘koala hug,’ taking her up to the second floor in two or three strides.
Entering the bedroom, he set Jiang Yu on the bed. Just as he was about to lean over, he noticed his palms were dry and dirty from the wind and sand, so he decisively grabbed a bathrobe and went to take a shower.
Jiang Yu sat up on the bed. She knew what was coming next, but after her past two experiences, she had thoroughly learned how rough the man could be in bed, along with his extraordinary endurance from years of training.
During the day, he was cautious and careful.
At night, he was still fierce.
Doing it once left her in pain for three days.
Jiang Yu was terrified.
She had already left the old mansion; there was no need to feed the tiger with her own body so eagerly. Besides, she was now with He Lian every day. If she kept letting him toss her around, her fragile frame would fall apart sooner or later.
She couldn’t be worked to death by him before her great revenge was exacted.
What should she do? What should she do? What should she do?
Jiang Yu forced herself to calm down, clutching the pillow while thinking rapidly. Fortunately, He Lian was still taking a shower, so she had plenty of time to come up with a plan.
But the next second—
“A-Yu!”
He Lian slammed the door open and walked in.
Jiang Yu: “…”
So fast!
Can a person shower that fast?!
He Lian had his own way of wearing a bathrobe: his upper body was bare, and the robe sleeves were loosely tied around his waist. As he reached for a towel, the firm muscles flowed with his movement.
Wheat-toned biceps, traps, chest, abs—covered in countless scars.
And… that ferocious gunshot wound on the left side of his chest.
Unlike those superficial gym bodies, muscles forged through a hail of bullets were pure substance.
Jiang Yu was dazzled by the sight.
Her fingers buried in the bedsheet twitched unconsciously.
He Lian lowered his head, using the dry towel to roughly wipe his hair. His deep, sharp brow and eyes flickered between his fingers, carrying a wildness ready to destroy everything.
Jiang Yu swallowed her saliva gently.
No wonder He Lian was so angry the second time he saw her.
He held himself as precious.
Carefully guarding his purity was understandable after all.
Sensing the girl’s gaze, the corners of He Lian’s mouth curved up high. He walked over to the bed and draped the towel directly over her small head.
With her vision blocked, panic stirred in Jiang Yu’s heart.
Having acted for years in the Song family, however, she could control her initial reaction very well.
Immediately after, a corner of the towel was lifted. A pleasant, crisp mint scent drifted through the darkness, and He Lian’s kiss grazed her tightly bitten lips like a dragonfly skimming water.
The man whispered softly, “A-Yu, hug me.”
“Say ‘He Lian.’ I want to hear it.”
