Chapter 38: The Little Fool Must Be Jealous
Chapter 38: The Little Fool Must Be Jealous
Not only Xie Xiran, but even Jiang Yu was startled by those words, making her raise her head in disbelief.
He Lian was simply too tall. Without him lowering his head, Jiang Yu could only see his jawline. Vaguely, she withdrew her gaze and carefully poked at her ear.
What on earth was he talking about?
Xie Xiran’s eyes instantly turned red. Staring at Jiang Yu’s petite figure, she took a step forward: “Mr. He, when did you get a girlfriend? Whose daughter is this?”
There were never any women around He Lian. Aside from Zhuang Yumian that block of ice, there was only herself. When on earth did a scrawny, tiny upstart with no background pop out of nowhere?
Even though her tone was very polite, He Lian was obviously displeased.
“Right now. Got a problem with that?”
With that said, He Lian directly bent down, picked Jiang Yu up in his arms, and strode outside.
Xie Xiran chased after them for two steps, her high heels clicking loudly against the ground: “Mr. He, why haven’t I seen this young lady before? How long have you known each other? When did you officially become a couple?”
He Lian stopped in his tracks, his eyes full of impatience: “Xie Xiran, listen to your brother and stay away from me, okay?”
Xie Xiran was taken aback, and immediately professed her feelings to the man: “But Mr. He, my love for you is definitely not fake. You… can we talk alone?”
Jiang Yu: “…”
So that was it.
He Lian’s “future wife” line was just meant to make someone give up completely.
This guy was truly handsome, and the woman was truly infatuated. Any man’s heart would be moved.
However, He Lian was her own weapon; she could only return him to Xie Xiran after she finished using him.
Jiang Yu half-heartedly wrapped her arms around He Lian’s neck and whispered, “He Lian, let’s go home.”
He Lian’s pupils trembled slightly in shock.
The little fool actually called him by his name again!
Although he kept a poker face, his heart was already surging with overwhelming waves. Where on earth would he still have room for Xie Xiran in his eyes? As he strode forward, his steps felt practically as light as the wind.
No matter how much Xie Xiran called out to him, it was completely useless.
In the car heading toward the Han Palace Mansion, He Lian couldn’t stop glancing at Jiang Yu beside him. The young lady was lowering her head, her small hands clutching the tablet prepared by the driver, which was playing the cartoon he had carefully selected.
A pleasant Sheep’s voice echoed in his ears:
(SFX: “[? Hahaha, [blank] is the cruelest thing in the world!]”)
“Ah-yu?”
He Lian leaned closer, peering into her expressionless face: “Why didn’t you want to stay a bit longer just now?”
Jiang Yu desperately wanted to close the cartoon and watch something like Saw or Final Destination instead. Hearing him ask this out of the blue, she simply decided to play dumb and ignore him.
He Lian bit his lower lip slightly, and his ears grew silently burning hot.
She was jealous.
She was definitely jealous of Xie Xiran.
Although Jiang Yu wasn’t very good at expressing herself, she did have emotional awareness regarding the outside world. She must have acted this way because she couldn’t describe that sour, jealous feeling in her heart.
He understood. He understood everything.
The little fool had a very strong desire to possess him.
He Lian rubbed his chin, smiling unconsciously, then touched his neck as if feeling shy. The whole man acted like he had hyperactivity disorder.
Jiang Yu gave him a light sideways glance, noticing his hands restlessly rubbing against his knees, looking as though his head had been struck by an ellipsis.
Did something crawl into this guy’s body?
Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of a Chinese-style villa covering more than ten mu of land. In the courtyard, Butler He spotted the black Bentley and started shouting from afar: “Master! Second Young Master is back!”
Nearly sixty years old, he couldn’t run very fast, but by the time he reached them, He Lian had already gotten out of the car.
The man steadied the car door, watching as Jiang Yu stepped out.
Butler He craned his neck to look. True to being the person Second Young Master refused to let go of no matter what, this child from the Song family certainly looked exquisite, though she was a bit too thin and small, making her look rather pitiful.
“Is this Miss Ah-yu?”
Butler He smiled amiably, careful not to step on He Lian’s bad side.
He Lian responded softly and pulled Jiang Yu into the courtyard. A busy line of servants kept turning their heads back, but remembering the butler’s instructions, they hurriedly averted their gazes and went back to their respective chores.
The Second Young Master actually brought someone back!
It was even rarer than the end of the world.
As soon as He Lian and Jiang Yu stepped inside, they were greeted head-on by a dragon-headed cane!
Jiang Yu closed her eyes in fright, but the cane was steadily grabbed by He Lian. He clicked his tongue, looked at the menacing old Master He in front of him, and said in an indifferent voice: “Old man, did you check your blood pressure this morning?”
Old Master He was wearing a white Tai Chi uniform and tried to pull his cane back: “You little brat, let go!”
He Lian did as he was told. Old Master He slammed the cane heavily onto the ground, and then glared at Jiang Yu with a pair of sharp, unclouded eyes, looking like an investigator interrogating a criminal.
Accustomed to years of disguise, Jiang Yu was very good at controlling her facial expressions.
Before she could even feel uncomfortable, He Lian had already lost his patience. He pushed his grandfather away, acting completely unreasonable:
“Alright, old man, you acting like this is seriously perverted. You just happen to be my grandfather; if it were anyone else, I would’ve poked their eyes out long ago.”
Hearing this, Old Master He instantly swung his cane up again!
What kind of nonsense was this punk spouting?!
Jiang Yu was startled!
Old Master He’s physique clearly showed he exercised year-round without any hunch. With such a fierce posture in swinging his cane, he was definitely going to hurt He Lian!
However, with a loud crack , the cane snapped in half first.
Jiang Yu: “…”
He Lian must be made of wood.
Old Master He finally vented some steam, tossed the broken cane aside, and walked steadily toward the living room.
He Lian didn’t care at all, just shaking out his sleeves.
Jiang Yu was momentarily speechless. As it turned out, there was nothing wrong with the old man’s legs; the cane was simply vicious on its own.
On the sofa, just as Jiang Yu sat down, she saw a graceful figure running down the spiral staircase. It was none other than He Zhiyi, who had just turned 20. She flew over like a swallow: “Brother!”
He Lian ignored her.
He Zhiyi was born to the same parents as him, and the siblings looked very much alike. But compared to her older brother’s sharp aura, her facial features were much softer, and she still had a baby face.
He Zhiyi blinked her big eyes, extremely excited: “NG just delivered over eighty sets of gowns, and they’re almost filling up the cloakroom. Were those bought for me?”
He Lian finally deigned to give her a look: “In your dreams.”
He Zhiyi: “I’m the only kid in the family, if they weren’t bought for me…”
Finally, she caught sight of Jiang Yu standing to the side.
He Zhiyi’s eyes widened, and she rushed right up to her.
Jiang Yu leaned back slightly, feeling a bit awkward.
Why did everyone in this family have such weird ways of observing strangers?
“My dear brother, you really dared to bring her back.”
He Zhiyi sized her up, refusing to let a single detail slip.
She had also heard about Jiang Yu’s situation. She tapped the young lady on the cheek and pinched it, as if she were tinkering with a pottery doll.
“She looks pretty, but she really is a fool.”
He Zhiyi couldn’t help shaking her head, her disappointment practically overflowing.
Jiang Yu wore a helpless look in her eyes.
These two siblings really were cut from the exact same cloth.
Seeing He Zhiyi’s long fingernails, He Lian impatiently swiped her hand away: “That’s enough.”
He Zhiyi was a smart person. She drew out a long “Oh—”
Since when had her brother ever cared so much about someone? He Zhiyi instantly guessed He Lian’s intentions and teased, “Then should I take Jiang Yu to try on those dresses?”
He Lian gave a grunt of agreement, as he still had things to discuss with the old man.
He Zhiyi laughed mischievously, pulled Jiang Yu upstairs, and muttered in a low voice, “Jiang Yu, I’ll take you to see photos of my brother wearing women’s underwear. You won’t be scared, right?”
“He Zhiyi!”
He Lian’s roar chased after them up the stairs.
“Ah, ah, I meant my photos wearing women’s underwear!”
“Nobody’s works either!”
