Chapter 6: She Is Going to Bury the Song Family!
Chapter 6: She Is Going to Bury the Song Family!
Inside the wooden building.
Jiang Yu stood obediently, her hazy gaze following Butler Gu as he moved around.
The man was rummaging through the chests and cupboards in the room, completely lacking the sense of propriety a man should have toward a woman, as well as any respect a servant owed to his master.
He even called Su He over to search the place together.
Fortunately, no unseen paintings were found, and only then did Butler Gu stand up.
He stared at Jiang Yu, his greedy eyes tracing the curves of the girl’s figure. He reached out and tentatively poked her waist with his fingertips, letting out a soft, creepy chuckle.
Even with Su He standing right beside them, Butler Gu made no effort to restrain himself.
“Miss Ah Yu, what did Mr. He say to you?”
Jiang Yu said nothing.
Butler Gu walked over to the window to take a look again.
The night before the old master’s funeral, Jiang Yu had sneaked out once, and by the time they noticed, she had almost fallen into the pond. This time, she had sneaked out again.
So she had been climbing out the window all along.
Because of this, he had been chewed out severely by the Song couple.
Butler Gu walked back, leaned close to Jiang Yu’s fair ear, and sniffed softly. “Did he really say nothing at all?”
There was a very faint scent of paint on Jiang Yu, like a rain-soaked forest, the vegetation drenched, emanating the aroma of pine.
One could only smell it by getting close enough.
Seeing this, Su He merely sneered, standing by as a bystander.
“Uncle Gu, she’s a lunatic who can’t even speak properly. What could Mr. He possibly say to her? He probably just found her silly-looking and teased her a bit to kill time.”
The girl turned her head slightly, showing no discomfort at being violated. As her dried-together lips peeled apart, she voiced her primal needs to the person beside her: “I’m… hungry. I want to eat.”
Butler Gu said, “Miss Ah Yu, if you want to eat, tell me first: where on earth did the handwritten will left by the old master go?”
Jiang Yu still gave no reaction.
No matter how Butler Gu looked at her, she was like a block of wood.
Butler Gu stowed his smile, picked up a paintbrush from the floor, and stuffed it into Jiang Yu’s hand. He even gave her slender forearm a rough pat. “Fine, let’s not mention the will. If you want to eat, paint first. Be good. Once you finish painting and the Eldest Miss is happy, I’ll let you eat, alright?”
Jiang Yu: “Okay.”
Only then did Butler Gu nod in satisfaction. He called to Su He and gestured toward the window, ordering, “Get a carpenter to board up the window from the outside so she doesn’t run out again and ruin things.”
Su He’s eyes gouged over Jiang Yu’s body like a wolf, and she hurriedly promised, “Understood, Uncle Gu. We definitely won’t let her run out again.”
After Butler Gu left, Su He turned around.
Jiang Yu met her gaze.
A trace of helplessness rippled within those eyes.
Su He bit her lip, her eyes gradually turning red. She anxiously pulled a handkerchief from her bosom, wetted it at the window with some leftover rainwater from the night before, and pulled Jiang Yu’s forearm, wiping it with force.
“Damn him! He actually touched you! I’m going to kill that bastard named Gu!”
Su He choked up, her tears dripping down. She then wiped Jiang Yu’s ear, and seeing the bruises on her arm caused by her own pulling, guilt rushed into her heart. “Ah Yu, you’ve suffered so much.”
If it weren’t to survive, Jiang Yu wouldn’t have needed to feign madness and act stupid like this, treated as a plaything by the entire Song Family, left for anyone to torment.
She tightly hugged Jiang Yu’s thin body, sobbing uncontrollably.
A moment later, an icy hand rested on her back.
The girl’s indifferent voice echoed in her ear.
“It’s okay.”
Su He raised her head. Jiang Yu had completely shed her dull, wooden demeanor, replaced by tranquility and sharp coldness. She walked to the window, stared outside, and asked with great alertness, “What did He Lian come here for?”
Su He said, “He came to break off your engagement with Duan Jingyue.”
A subtle curve formed at the corner of Jiang Yu’s mouth. “That’s great.”
She had thought He Lian would be difficult to hook.
Who would have thought that this man cared so deeply about his purity?
To think he had rushed over again so quickly.
Su He was confused. “Ah Yu, what do you mean ‘that’s great’? What is wrong with you today?”
Jiang Yu’s eyes turned cold, and she spoke crisply and decisively: “I slept with He Lian.”
Su He gasped!
No wonder Jiang Yu had asked to be let out this morning and laid in wait on the path He Lian was bound to take, pulling off those clingy, outrageous stunts.
The night before the funeral…
Ah Yu had actually…
Jiang Yu asked, “Sister He, is there any leftover paint from the batch you helped me prepare last time?”
“The paint mixed with… that stuff last time?” Su He finally understood everything completely, suppressing her shock deeply. “There’s still some left.”
“Give it to me.”
Su He asked, “Are you going out again? Then I won’t let them board up the window.”
Jiang Yu shook her head, refusing decisively: “No, that will get you punished.”
To repay her mother’s financial aid from years ago, Su He had resolutely given up her opportunity to study abroad in Germany. Half a year ago, she had snuck into the old mansion to work as a maid just to take care of Jiang Yu in secret.
Jiang Yu felt deeply guilty.
She could never let anything happen to Su He.
Su He asked, “Then what are you planning…”
Jiang Yu looked up at the sky, watching the dark, rolling clouds gathering above.
Having lived in Yang City for five years, she made a precise prediction: “Song Xueyan likes He Lian. She definitely thinks He Lian came for her today. Looking at the weather, a heavy downpour is coming soon. The mountain roads will be difficult to travel, so she will likely ask He Lian to stay the night. Go ahead and have my window boarded up as usual. If He Lian comes tonight…”
She turned her head to stare at Su He, her hand gripping the paintbrush slowly tightening.
Crack.
The cheap wooden brush handle snapped easily.
Splintered wood poked into her palm, and the sharpness deep within her eyes gradually came to light.
“That means my plan worked, and we can proceed to the next step.”
Su He’s heart hung in suspense. “Ah Yu, what on earth are you trying to do?”
Jiang Yu said, “I’m going to use He Lian to leave the Song Family.”
Su He was shocked, clenching her hands over her chest after a moment and gritting her teeth: “These damned beasts of the Song Family… forcing you to ruin yourself like this.”
The person in front of her was crying uncontrollably, yet not a single tear could be seen on Jiang Yu.
She pulled out her shoes from under the bed, put them on, picked up another paintbrush, set up the easel, squeezed paint onto the palette, and dipped her brush in it.
She painted the gruesome hallucinations that constantly appeared in her mind and before her eyes.
When she was fourteen years old, she had watched with her own eyes as her father chopped her mother to death with a kitchen cleaver, before grabbing her and locking her inside a custom-made dog cage.
Fed once every three days, Jiang Yu remained locked up with her mother’s corpse for a full six months.
Summers in Haicheng were extremely hot, and decomposition happened rapidly.
Day after day, her father stood guard there, chattering endlessly to her mother’s corpse.
At first came terror, then a gradual breakdown, and finally, she grew accustomed to it.
Later on, she even began to hear her mother’s voice.
Her mother told her not to be afraid, saying that no matter what she turned into, she would never hurt her most precious Ah Yu.
Until her grandfather came and took her away.
Yet within less than a month of returning to the Song Family, her grandfather became bedridden with illness, unable to rise again.
Knowing that her mother was also named in her grandfather’s will… the Song Family cultivated over a hundred thousand mu of tea trees and was the largest tea supplier in the northern region. Even a quarter of that was an astoundingly terrifying amount.
It was not hard for Jiang Yu to guess why her grandfather had fallen ill.
Or who had instigated her already paranoid father.
As well as the ultimate root cause of her mother’s death.
Her grandfather must have discovered the truth, which was why he chose to alter his will a second time, leaving everything he had worked so hard to build to her—a granddaughter with no blood relation to him.
And so, he died too.
Now, it was her turn.
In three months, Song Xueyan would announce to the public that she was permanently putting down her paintbrush.
Without any value left to exploit, Jiang Yu wouldn’t survive either.
A splash of red splattered onto the white paper like blood.
Jiang Yu had an expressionless face, her gaze filled with a coldness and numbness that had been suppressed to the absolute limit before snapping.
Before her grandfather died, he had called her to his bedside alone and pulled out that handwritten will.
That creased, yellowed piece of paper had been rolled up, stuffed inside a hollow paintbrush handle, and later hidden inside a double-sided painting.
And that painting…
Had been bought by He Lian when it was exhibited.
She was going to make He Lian take her away too.
Leave this wooden building.
Leave the Song Family.
And then, use He Lian’s power and influence…
To bury everyone in this old mansion deep within the perpetual, damp rains of Yang City…
Turning them into rotting mud!
Sansukini: What a terrible family. But Jiang Yu’s plan is really flawed. What if he wasn’t hooked or he’s a scum?
Sorry, I’ve been too busy so I didn’t have much time to do the chapters. Will be posting the rest of the chapters today.
