"RRRRIIIIIIBBBIIIITTTT!!!"
Larry let out an agonized howl. He will get to the Mayor even if he had to tare this entire realm apart. He will make him pay for everything!
EVERYYTHIING!!!
The albino toad pulsed with crimson energy, its eyes blazing red as its minions dissolved into a storm of nanoid particles. The swarm swirled around the already massive creature and merged into its flesh.
With each second the nanoid ridden amphibian swelled, its body mutating and reconfiguring, absorbing the green mini Larry clones, the warefrog cultists and the army of mutated adventurers, until Larry became a kaiju sized abomination towering above the neutral zone and the firewall below.
Gray fire poured from his maw, liquefying the sand at his feet, while thick tentacles smashed through the surrounding ruins of the queue.
He hurled himself again at the forcefield encasing the great firewall of Generica Online, driving his jagged appendages against it as he tried to crush the tiny crablike Mayor within. His roars and screeches split the air. The ground shuddered beneath the assault, tremors rippling across the ruined landscape, reaching throughout all the virtual realms.
Yet, despite his raw power, despite his fury, the wall magical defences proved to be stronger. He was nothing more than an impotent toad, raging against the invisible barrier of his confinement.
For a moment Larry found himself back in the lab, trapped within the see through plasteel box of his birth, helpless under the whims and mercy of others.
He remembered that feeling well, it was infuriating, it was terrifying...
Yet despite all he had become, he still could not break through. He was powerless. His master would have been ashamed to be associated with such a weak creature as Larry.
Was this the end? will he be forced to abandon his revenge after all? And what of his master, will he ever see him again? Was he dead, or just in respawn limbo?
"Bahahahaha! YES, YEESS, EXCELLENT!!!"
The Mayor guffawed, shouting over the surging energy vortex surrounding Larry. Sporadic bolts of energy crackled through the air, striking everything nearby with thunderous force.
"I knew I was right about you! Gahahah!"
The Mayor laughed maniacally, lifting his monstrous hands toward the storm-darkened sky and the looming nanoid abomination.
…
"Hey asshole!"
"Huh?" The Mayor faltered as someone interrupted his evil laughter.
"HEY ASSHOLE!" The voice said again, much more demanding this time.
"What the…" The Mayor skittered with his numerous crab legs to the edge of the wall and looked down.
There, at the base of the wall, and right next to the pinkie toe of Larry Prime, stood an old man, a bald, very very angry old man.
“Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, messes with my family and gets away with it!” The man declared.
Then The Mayor heard two words so bizarre that they made him reel in disbelief at what came next.
"GOLD FISH!!!"
Herman roared, infusing all the raw might of his SUPER DUPER LEGENDARY powers into the words.
Pixels swirled through the air, coalescing to form a plump, unusually large golden fish in the man’s hands, its golden scales pulsing with an otherworldly brilliance.
Then Herman wrapped his hands around the fish’s tail, muscles tensing, nerves straining, he SLAMMED the improvised weapon against the base of the wall.
BOOOMMMM!!!
The resulting explosion and thunderous shockwave rippled across the virtual realms, from the remote Generica kobolds swamplands, to the highest floor of Mr. Sheridan’s personal skyscraper in the Internet Metropolis.
The magical barrier enveloping the wall shattered first, its transparent fragments scattering like a broken mirror, falling from both the wall and the sky above it.
Rock and stone began to crack, then shatter. Chunks of the once impenetrable wall flew outward as if struck by the wrath of Cthulhu himself. Stone debris erupted from Herman’s strike in slow motion, the chain reaction spreading relentlessly, devouring the barrier that separated the two virtual realms apart, until the entire firewall shattered.
And that is how the great impenetrable firewall of Generica Online was destroyed. It had withstood countless conquerors, internet raiders, hackers, nuclear explosions and nanoid abominations.
But in the end, it could not stand against the righteous anger of a single bald man!
___
"Y…you… what a..are you???" The Mayor stammered amidst the rubble of the once great wall.
"N..nobody here has such power… w-who sent you?"
"Was it Martha? I... I was doing this on her commands, I haven’t betrayed her, please, please tell her that I need more time. I will fulfill my duty, I will… Please show mercy…"
The injured Mayor begged desperately for his life, his voice cracking with strain, his crab-like legs were broken, his carapace cracked, and his once-immaculate business suit torn and stained with gray blood. His mandibles were bent at unnatural angles, his body a ruin of its former self.
Herman stood in a classic heroic pose, one knee on the ground, fist pressed into the earth, unmoving and radiating an aura of mystery.
"And did you show mercy to the army of adventurers that you threw in the mouth of the lion?"
"Did you show mercy to the people of the worker camp when you tried to lure them into the nanoid infestation?"
"Did you show ANY mercy when you decided to torture and kill MY BROTHER?" He shouted, his voice filled with fury and accusation.
"No Mayor… I am afraid mercy is not on the menu today."
"HEY LARRY!"
Herman shouted, still locked in the heroic pose, but tilting his head ever so slightly to regard the stunned nanoid monstrosity next to him. It looking stunned at what had just happened, but otherwise unscaled from the explosion and burning sensation from Herman’s nanoid repellent skill.
"He is all yours." The man said, giving ever so slight respectful nod at the nanoid beast towering above him.
"W-what? No… No no no, you can't do this. This wasn't the plan, this wasn't how things were supposed to go..."
The Mayor protestations however were brought to a sudden stop as multiple beastly maws manifested all around the gigantic body of the amphibian godzilla, making something deep and primal inside the mind of the Mayor awake with fear.
"N..no, this isn’t over, this is not the end…" The Mayor mumbled as he struggled to reach and activate the device in his suit’s inner pocket.
Larry however, needed no further invitation. His form began to twist and warp, a huge mouth forming from his massive body. Rows upon rows of jagged, shark-like teeth sprouted, the mouth beginning to resemble a hellish blender bristling with blades and sharp edges.
Then just before the Mayor could get what he deserved, he finally managed to reach the coin like token in his pocket.
Squeezing it tightly, the token crushed and the Mayor’s body was instantly pulled into a miniature purple portal. The portal then imploded, shooting like an arrow toward Fence Town and the distant lands beyond, diving deeper into the realm of Generica Online and leaving a bright neon trail in its wake.
"SQWEEEEEEE!!!"
Larry snarled in fury, the tentacles across his body shaking with rage, his colossal maw snapping shut and sending a burst of wind rolling outward.
Larry transformed once again, reverting to his original form as an albino toad, while still retaining his colossal Godzilla-like size.
Finally, with a last ribbit, he began hopping after his nemesis. He will have his revenge, even if it meant devouring everything in his path.
___
2 minutes later…
Herman was still locked into his heroic pose amidst the rubble of the wall.
"Are they gone?" The man squeaked, his voice still somewhat heroic, but also tinged with a hint of pain.
"Amm, yeah, I am pretty sure they are gone". Polya said as she looked at the trail of destruction Larry had left after his wake.
The wall was pretty much entirely gone, with the single exception of the gate and the guard station at its base. Beyond it lied the mechanoid settlement of Fence Town. Well most of it anyway.
Larry hadn’t been too selective on where he landed after his hops, so every few hundred meters there was a toad shaped hole in the town’s landscape.
"Oh thank god." Herman said, letting the facade of his heroic persona go, being replaced by the voice of an old man struggling not to cry with pain.
"P-please help me get up, I think I pinched a nerve… I .. I can't move…"
