Selene folded her hands.

“Several weeks ago, you two were forced into a situation no child should ever have experienced.”

Alex and Mia remained quiet.

"You discovered your parents' identities. You discovered your own abilities. You entered a VIREX facility, fought trained operatives, and helped rescue your parents."

Mia looked down.

Selene continued.

"You also demonstrated something that VIREX cannot ignore."

Alex raised an eyebrow.

"What?"

"Potential."

Alex smiled slightly.

Mia remained serious.

Selene opened another page.

"Since your parents were rescued, VIREX has monitored your progress with their permission."

A series of charts appeared.

Alex's blue plasma energy.

Mia's speed readings.

Their reflexes.

Their reaction times.

Their training results.

Alex stared.

"That's me?"

Finn nodded.

"Your power readings."

Alex smiled.

"That's pretty cool."

Mia looked more carefully.

"What does all of this mean?"

Selene answered.

"It means your abilities are developing."

The twins exchanged a glance.

"Developing?" Mia asked.

"Yes. You have only recently begun consciously using your powers. Your bodies are still adapting."

John looked at Selene.

"And where does NEXTGEN come in?"

Selene turned the folder around so John and Sarah could see the proposal.

"VIREX believes Alex and Mia need more than occasional training."

Sarah looked at the document.

"What are you proposing?"

Selene took a breath.

"A new educational program."

Alex's eyes widened.

"Like school?"

"Yes."

Mia looked confused.

"But we're already in school."

Selene nodded.

"Which is why this would require a major decision."

She looked at John and Sarah.

"VIREX wants to establish a specialized academy for young superhumans."

Alex immediately sat up.

"Superhero school?"

Selene smiled.

"Something similar."

Alex looked at Mia.

Mia's eyes widened.

"Wait."

She turned back toward Selene.

"You're saying we'd go to school at VIREX?"

"Yes."

Alex's face lit up.

"That's awesome!"

Mia smiled, but she remained thoughtful.

"What would we actually learn?"

Selene began listing the subjects.

"Your regular education would continue. Mathematics. English. Science. History."

Alex nodded.

"Okay."

"But you would also receive specialized instruction."

Selene continued.

"Power control. Superhuman science. Emergency response. Hero ethics. Tactical strategy. Defensive training. Rescue operations. And teamwork."

Alex stared at her.

"That's definitely better than regular school."

Mia elbowed him.

"We still have to learn math."

Alex sighed.

"Fine."

John laughed.

Sarah looked at Selene.

"And what exactly would you call this program?"

Selene looked at the folder.

"VIREX NEXTGEN."

Finn spoke.

"And the twins would be its first students."

Selene nodded.

"More specifically, its first Junior Agents."

Alex's eyes widened.

"Junior Agents?"

Finn smiled.

"You heard her."

Alex looked at Mia.

"We'd actually be VIREX agents."

Mia hesitated.

"Junior agents."

"Still sounds cool."
