Chapter 57 Dispute
Chapter 57 Dispute
Chapter 57: The Argument
Cui Ji said nothing, his eyes locked on Cheng Ge, his face blank but somehow creepy.
Cheng Ge held the long knife in his hand, glanced at the women kneeling on the floor, and was a bit confused.
He put the knife away, then slowly walked up to Cui Ji, tilting his head and asking, "Why are you here? Is dinner done?"
Cui Ji: "..."
He let out a cold laugh and said, "Why bother eating? Why not just stay here and have a good time with them?"
Cheng Ge thought the words sounded a bit sarcastic, but after thinking it over, he didn't think he'd done anything wrong.
Then it dawned on him—Cui Ji was probably overworked and burned out. A person can't stay tense all the time; they need to relax to relieve stress, or they'd end up depressed.
Seeing him having fun here all alone without inviting him, it was only natural Cui Ji felt left out.
Cheng Ge looked back at the women, hesitated for a moment, then said seriously, "You wanna stay? We can play together."
Cui Ji's face darkened like a storm cloud, like he was about to blow up the planet any second.
Cheng Ge was about to say something else, but the next moment, the world spun.
When he came to, he was already thrown over Cui Ji's shoulder.
"What the hell! Cui Ji, what the hell are you doing!" Cheng Ge was freaked out by the sudden move.
Cui Ji carried him out in big strides, kicking the osmanthus tree in the yard hard as he left, clearly pissed off.
Cheng Ge struggled on his shoulder, yelling curses, "Damn it, put me down! Or I'll knock your damn head off..."
The women around were all shocked by the scene.
As Cheng Ge thrashed around like a wild animal, a hand like a vise grabbed him tight.
"Shut up!" With that low, stern command, the hand tightened, as if it might break Cheng Ge's neck.
Cheng Ge was still defiant, squirming like a caterpillar, vowing to fight Cui Ji for a hundred rounds.
But now he hung limp on Cui Ji's shoulder like a dead fish, muttering, "Fine."
Cui Ji carried him all the way back to their place and tossed him hard onto the bed.
Cheng Ge flipped over and sat up, eyes blazing with anger, "Cui Ji, what the fuck is wrong with you!"
Cui Ji looked down at him, his eyes full of fury, and pinned him down on the bed.
"Next time I catch you messing around with them, I'll deal with you!"
Cheng Ge was taken aback for a moment, then without thinking, threw a hard punch at him.
Cui Ji reacted fast, dodging the punch.
They instantly got into a fight, the room was a mess with furniture knocked over.
Cheng Ge was pissed, shouting as he fought, "Are you crazy! I was just talking to them, what's the big deal!"
Cui Ji said nothing, but he got stronger, pressing his elbow into Cheng Ge's neck and pinning him against the wall.
Cheng Ge's chest felt tight, gasping for air, then he suddenly drove his knee upward, aiming for a low blow.
Cui Ji was quick, grabbing Cheng Ge's leg and wedging his knee between them, forcing his legs apart and leaving him no escape.
"Damn it!" Cheng Ge cursed under his breath, then bit down hard on Cui Ji's wrist.
Cui Ji winced in pain, his face darkening as he stared at the enraged man.
Cheng Ge bit fiercely, as if trying to tear off a piece of flesh.
A sweet, bloody taste filled his mouth, his stomach churning, and red blood trickled from the corner of his lips.
But a sharp pain suddenly stabbed his heart; he frowned in discomfort and instinctively let go.
His back still against the wall, Cheng Ge looked up at Cui Ji, a scornful smile on his lips.
Their eyes met, breaths nearly mingling.
Seeing him like this, Cui Ji's heart tightened, and he quickly let go, stepping back several paces.
Cheng Ge's chest heaved, glancing at Cui Ji before wiping the blood from his mouth.
Cui Ji averted his gaze, said nothing, and turned to stride out of the room.
The sky had fully darkened, the mansion silent, servants all on edge.
The steward looked at the two closed doors, then at the cold dishes on the table, and sighed heavily.
With a creak, one door opened from inside.
Cheng Ge emerged, a large bundle on his back.
The steward's heart sank, and he quickly stepped forward to block him. "Young Master Cheng, it's so late, where are you going? I'll have a carriage prepared."
Cheng Ge had a decent impression of the steward and shook his head. "No need for a carriage, I'll just walk."
The steward fretted, "Young Master Cheng, you haven't eaten yet. You'll starve."
Cheng Ge was fuming, unwilling to stay with the unpredictable Cui Ji.
"No need, I'm not hungry at all." He stepped forward to leave.
Hearing this, the steward glanced at his master's door and saw a shadow standing behind it, unseen for who knows how long.
He sighed inwardly but forced a smile. "Young Master Cheng, don't be angry. When two people live together, friction is inevitable. Just sit down and talk it out, and the knot will untie."
Cheng Ge laughed coldly. "I'm telling you, it's over. I did nothing, and he hit me!"
He rubbed his sore neck and muttered, "Damn! It's like I messed with his wife, going that hard."
The steward: "..."
"Actually... those young ladies... can indeed be considered the prince's people."
These words struck like a thunderbolt, instantly leaving Cheng Ge fried inside and out.
Cheng Ge's eyes widened in disbelief. "You what?!"
Holy crap! Cheng Ge never expected that Cui Ji, who looked like such a loner on the surface, had a whole harem of pretty girls stashed away.
So... he was the only clown all along.
Cheng Ge thought about it—if that was the truth, it all clicked.
No wonder Cui Ji got angry; the guy was totally jealous!
Thinking of those young ladies cheering him on and dabbing his sweat in front of Cui Ji,
Putting himself in Cui Ji's shoes, Cheng Ge instantly felt like a total scumbag who deserved to be drawn and quartered.
He ran his hands through his hair, totally losing it. What the hell was he supposed to do now?
If he were still in his original world, he could post on a forum and ask for advice.
"You're joking, right? Doesn't he sleep in the front courtyard every day? And... well... those princesses... uh... sisters-in-law live quite remotely."
The butler gave a wry smile and nodded. "I'm not at liberty to say more, but the truth is indeed so. Maybe you should go find the prince..."
However, before the butler could finish, a loud crashing sound came from Cui Ji's room.
Cheng Ge: "!!!"
