Chapter 86: Each Has Their Own Difficulties
Cheng Ge was stunned—in both his past and present life, he had never witnessed such a grand scene.
Moans of a woman continued to drift out from the yard, accompanied by the lewd laughter of men.
Zhou Yinyun glanced back and patted him on the shoulder.
"Brother, there are many of them on the other side. Maybe you should tough it out a bit longer? And some of them have considerable influence, so don't do anything rash."
Cheng Ge pursed his lips. There were many men and women in the yard, but Zhang Qinghang was nowhere to be seen.
The room was brightly lit with candles, so Zhang Qinghang was likely inside. Cheng Ge planned to circle around from the side.
However, before he could move, a sharp scream suddenly rang out.
A petite figure limped out from the yard.
Her face was full of terror, her clothes disheveled, and her body covered in bruises.
A heavy iron chain was locked around her ankle, making a clanking sound as she ran.
Cheng Ge frowned, a sense of foreboding rising in his heart.
Quick as a flash, he grabbed Zhou Yinyun and ducked into a nearby corner.
A group of bare-chested men chased out from the yard. "You little slut, where do you think you're going? Catch her!"
The woman, panicking, stumbled and crawled straight toward where Cheng Ge was hiding.
Cheng Ge's heart tightened. He held his breath, his hand instinctively moving to the knife at his waist.
In an instant, the figure rushed straight up to him.
Cheng Ge reacted swiftly, dodging and scooping her into his arms.
Lü Rou didn't expect anyone here. She instinctively struggled, and she was about to scream in fear.
But at that moment, a soft hand quickly covered her mouth.
"Don't make a sound." A gentle voice whispered in her ear.
Lü Rou froze, her terrified eyes meeting Cheng Ge's. For some reason, she calmed down and stopped struggling.
The group of pursuers searched nearby, cursing under their breath.
Cheng Ge shielded Lü Rou tightly behind him, while Zhou Yinyun kept a wary eye on their surroundings.
Time seemed to stand still, each second agonizingly long.
Just as they were about to be discovered, a teasing voice came from inside the house.
"What's there to find? Just some slut! She can't run far. We'll send servants to find her later.
There are plenty of women here. Don’t ruin the fun. If you want more, let Brother Qinghang bring a few more over."
The men grinned lecherously and turned back into the house.
Cheng Ge's tense body finally relaxed a little. He glanced down at Lü Rou, took off his outer robe, and draped it over her.
Then he turned to Zhou Yinyun and whispered, "This place isn't safe. Let's go quickly."
"Brother, this isn't your wife, is it?" Zhou Yinyun couldn't help asking.
Cheng Ge's mouth twitched, and he mumbled awkwardly, "Yeah."
Zhou Yinyun and Lü Rou looked at Cheng Ge in disbelief.
Zhou Yinyun looked at Cheng Ge, then at Lü Rou. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, huh?"
It wasn't that Lü Rou was ugly, but after Cheng Ge's earlier description, it felt like a total scam.
Cheng Ge tightened his hand over Lü Rou's mouth and gave an embarrassed laugh. "Brother, you don't understand. That's what love does—it makes you blind and deaf.
And look, she has a nose and eyes, doesn't she? And those big, watery eyes... tsk, she's stunning."
Zhou Yinyun glanced at Lü Rou's eyes, his heart skipped a beat, and suddenly he thought Cheng Ge was damn right.
Then he thought about it and found something off. "But wait, with her like this, you still want to take her away?" he whispered.
At that moment, Zhou Yinyun looked at Cheng Ge as if he were a cuckold.
Cheng Ge was a bit annoyed. He started making things up again, a hint of sadness on his face.
"Brother, to be honest... each of us has our own difficulties. I don't blame her."
Zhou Yinyun: "???" What the hell?
Zhou Yinyun's mind raced with the phrase "each has their own difficulties."
Finally, his gaze shifted between the two again, a hint of tears in his eyes. "Is she...?"
Cheng Ge quickly covered Zhou Yinyun's mouth with his other hand, nodding sadly. "It's exactly what you're thinking. Don't say it. It will make her sad."
Zhou Yinyun nodded firmly and pulled Cheng Ge's hand away. "Don't worry, I'll keep your secret."
Cheng Ge smiled and looked down at Lü Rou. "Come home with me now, okay?"
Lü Rou stared straight at Cheng Ge and nodded without a second thought.
A moment later, three figures slowly rose from their crouched positions against the wall.
"Let's go quickly," Cheng Ge whispered, then patted Zhou Yinyun's shoulder. "Brother, you carry her."
Zhou Yinyun's eyes widened. "Why me?!"
"Tsk, she has chains on her feet. Walking will make noise," Cheng Ge explained patiently.
"I know, but I mean, she's your wife. Why should I carry her? Is that normal?" Zhou Yinyun felt the world had gone mad.
"As the saying goes, 'Brothers are like limbs, women like clothes.' And another ancient saying goes, 'How can we say we have no clothes? I share my robe with you.' So isn't that like carrying your brother's wife being the same as sharing clothes with him? Do you find that strange?"
Zhou Yinyun processed this for a moment. The logic seemed sound, and he was instantly won over. He bent down and lifted Lü Rou onto his back.
They crept along, hiding and dodging, until they finally returned to their starting point.
Three figures crouched in front of the dog hole, staring at each other.
“Ma'am, you go out first.” Cheng Ge glanced around and said in a low voice.
Lü Rou obeyed without a word, dragging the iron chain as she struggled to crawl out of the hole.
Fortunately, she was petite, so she slipped out without much trouble.
Zhou Yinyun looked at the dog hole, couldn’t help but swallow, then turned to Cheng Ge with a pleading look.
However, Cheng Ge pretended he hadn't seen anything and urged in a low voice, “Someone will come soon, let’s hurry.”
Zhou Yinyun gritted his teeth and forced himself to start crawling into the dog hole.
But he was much larger than Lü Rou, so before he could crawl far, he unsurprisingly got stuck.
His face turned bright red as he twisted his body hard, only to get stuck worse.
Seeing this, Lü Rou reached out, grabbed Zhou Yinyun’s arm, and pulled with all her might.
Dahuang, standing by Lü Rou’s side, tilted his head at the stuck Zhou Yinyun, then without a word started pawing at him.
Cheng Ge whispered anxiously from behind, “Buddy, crawl harder—put some effort into it!”
Zhou Yinyun whined, “I’m trying—I can’t get out!”
Just then, footsteps sounded from afar, as if a patrol was approaching.
Cheng Ge’s heart was in his throat, cold sweat beading on his forehead.
Without a second thought, he reached out to push Zhou Yinyun, but couldn’t budge him.
Seeing the patrol getting closer, Cheng Ge made a split-second decision and kicked Zhou Yinyun’s butt with all his might.
Zhou Yinyun felt his butt tighten, shot out of the dog hole like an arrow, and landed with a “thud” on the grass outside.
The patrol footsteps were nearly upon them; Cheng Ge, ignoring Zhou Yinyun’s plight, used the wall for leverage, flipped over, and vaulted over the courtyard wall.
By now, the three of them, along with the dog, were leaning against the wall, gasping for breath.
