Chapter 94 Yun Xunyu
Chapter 94: Yun Xunyu
"Which official isn't corrupt? A minor official wants to become a high official, and a high official wants to be a powerful minister.
But... hiccup... being an official ain't that easy.
It's a tight squeeze—every spot is taken. If you want to climb up, you have to curry favor and flatter people...
It's not just about sweet talk—you have to give actual benefits. Without silver, who would bother with you?"
Liu Yuanqian hiccupped every now and then, his gaze fixed on Cheng Ge.
"And is silver really that easy to come by? What if the emperor finds out? That would be terrible!"
Cheng Ge frowned slightly, pretending to lean in, he lowered his voice and said: "Master Liu, don't speak nonsense anymore. If word of this gets out, you'll get your head chopped off."
Liu Yuanqian waved dismissively. "What's there to fear? It's just the two of us here.
Besides, everyone in the court sees it as clear as day."
He took another gulp of wine and continued, "Besides, we're all in the same boat...
If we're caught, we all go down together. No one gets away."
Cheng Ge's eyes darted around. He pinched a piece of pastry from the table and took two bites.
"Brazen as this is, aren't you afraid someone will report it to His Majesty?"
"Report it?" Liu Yuanqian laughed as if hearing a joke, pinching Cheng Ge's waist. "They'd have to be alive to report it, wouldn't they?"
"Just the other day, I heard there was some reckless fool in Yuanzhou who thought he'd gathered enough evidence to come to the capital and face the emperor." A sneer curled at the corner of Liu Yuanqian's mouth, his eyes full of contempt.
"He's probably lying paralyzed in bed by now. How do you suppose he'll make it to the capital... how will he see the emperor?
But this fellow must have some connections. Otherwise, he would have been killed off long ago. Someone secretly saved him."
Cheng Ge's expression stiffened, but he didn't show it. "I see. But what if the emperor investigates? You can't exactly..."
"You fool, like I'd let him find out that easily? Of course we've got a plan B."
Cheng Ge lowered his head, asking in a coy voice: "What kind of plan B?"
"Hehe... let me have a kiss... hiccup... and I'll tell you."
Cheng Ge's face flushed, and he quickly covered it with his fan, putting on a shy act.
He raised his hand and playfully thumped Liu Yuanqian on the chest. "Your servant is already yours, Master. Whatever you want, it's fine!"
Liu Yuanqian felt a dull ache in his chest and stumbled backward, drunkenly wondering how a delicate beauty could be so strong.
But he only hesitated for a couple of seconds before being completely lost his head over the beauty again.
He immediately puckered his sausage-like lips and eagerly leaned toward Cheng Ge's red ones.
Cheng Ge reacted swiftly, blocking Liu Yuanqian's eyes with his fan.
With his other hand, he quickly reached into his robes and pulled out a large steamed bun, shoving it directly into Liu Yuanqian's mouth.
"So soft..." Liu Yuanqian closed his eyes, rubbing and licking the big bun, scraping it with his buck teeth, his face utterly blissed out.
Cheng Ge watched, covered in goosebumps, making a wry face. He thought to himself that he'd need to stare at Cui Ji a few times to unsee that later.
Looking at the abused steamed bun in his hand, he felt a bit sorry for it.
Steamed bun: If I'd known it would come to this, I never would have come.
"Master Liu, I can't take it anymore." Cheng Ge quickly pulled the bun back, then playfully thumped Liu Yuanqian twice more.
Liu Yuanqian didn't care. He wanted to go further.
"Ah... Master Liu, you haven't told your servant what the plan B is!" Cheng Ge dodged to the side.
"After we're done, then I'll tell you. I can't wait any longer, dammit," Liu Yuanqian urged impatiently.
"But I really want to hear it, pretty please. If you tell your servant, later I'll..." Cheng Ge leaned in and whispered something.
Liu Yuanqian's eyes lit up, his face full of excitement. "R-really?"
"Of course. Would your servant lie to you? I've got plenty more tricks up my sleeve."
Liu Yuanqian's face was flushed with drink, but his lust wasn't diminished. His speech was slurred.
He immediately leaned close to Cheng Ge's ear, muttering in broken sentences.
When Cheng Ge heard what he said, his expression suddenly changed.
"Is that really true? Don't trick your servant, Master Liu." Cheng Ge confirmed.
Liu Yuanqian patted his chest and assured him repeatedly, "Of course not... I wouldn't lie to you... hiccup!"
Then, excitedly, he grabbed the candlestick from the table and dragged Cheng Ge toward the bed.
Cheng Ge quickly pulled the hand he had slid inside Liu's robes out, grabbed a few notes, and was shoved onto the bed.
He rolled off immediately, his sleeve lightly brushed across Liu Yuanqian's face.
He crooked his finger at him. "Ah... come and catch me."
Liu Yuanqian couldn't hold back. His mouth was watering. Holding the candlestick, he chased after him.
Cheng Ge turned and leaned against a lampstand, looking at Liu Yuanqian with eyes sparkling with amusement.
He turned slightly sideways, reached out, lifted the lampshade, parted his red lips, and blew out the candle flame with a soft puff.
The room grew even darker in an instant. Liu Yuanqian wasn't paying attention and lunged at nothing.
"Come here..." Just as he turned around, he saw Cheng Ge leaning against another lampstand.
Liu Yuanqian immediately spun around and hurriedly lunged at Cheng Ge again.
Cheng Ge dodged nimbly. Liu Yuanqian missed again, smacking his head into the corner of the table, yowling in pain.
Cheng Ge dodged left and right in the room, making a fool of Liu Yuanqian.
He blew out every single candle and, while Liu Yuanqian wasn't watching, flung open the door and dashed out.
Liu Yuanqian shook his head to clear it, scrambled to his feet, still dazed from the drink.
He slurred out loud, "Baby? Where are you?"
It was silent all around, and with no lights on, it was now so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.
"Where the hell are you hiding? If you keep it up, I'll have to punish you." Liu Yuanqian's temper flared, his face darkened.
However, just as Liu Yuanqian was about to lose his temper, a soft, warm, sweet-smelling body, out of nowhere, fell into his arms, the two pressed tightly together.
Liu Yuanqian's breathing quickened as he squeezed the person in his arms, laughing and cursing playfully, "You little devil, I'll show you!"
With that, Liu Yuanqian carried the person and fumbled his way into the inner room. Soon after they went in, the sound of fabric tearing came from inside.
Cheng Ge, covering his ears, came out from the corner and crept over to the small window, peering down.
...
With a piece of almond and peanut pastry in his mouth, Cheng Ge gripped the windowsill with both hands and began to climb down.
The building was quite high, so Cheng Ge climbed carefully, making sure to find secure footholds with every step.
His ears were assaulted by obscene sounds—a real torture to listen to.
When he was halfway down, he glanced downward a few more times and let out a heavy sigh.
With one hand gripping the windowsill, he used the other to take the pastry from his mouth and started chewing.
He hadn't eaten dinner yet, so he quickly grabbed a bite, finishing the piece in his hand before pulling another from his sleeve.
"Burp... a bit dry," Cheng Ge choked, then decided to continue eating later.
As he thought this, his foot felt around downward again, but this time it found nothing.
He turned his head to look, and the building was laid out differently here than above.
After looking around, it seemed the only option was to climb down along the adjacent windowsill.
He tried to hook his toes onto that spot a few times, but they were still short, so he had to strain his body to reach it.
Finally, just as his foot was about to step onto the corner of the window, a creak sounded, and the window was pushed open from inside.
A slender hand reached out, coming to rest exactly where Cheng Ge was about to place his foot.
Now that Cheng Ge's center of gravity had shifted, he couldn't pull his foot back in time.
And so his foot stomped right onto that hand, and time seemed to freeze in that moment...
Yun Xunyu felt a dull ache on the back of his hand, looking down to see a pink embroidered shoe resting on it.
Then, he followed that begonia-red color upward, his eyes meeting a pair of eyes that looked slightly flustered in the sudden dark.
