Volume 2, Chapter 12 – When the Game Interferes with Reality, and Reality Interferes with the Game

“That’s all it takes?”

Standing beside Yunchou, the Vice Guild Leader’s facial muscles twitched slightly.

He had originally thought that what would follow would be some grand, earth-shattering final battle or something of the sort. After all, the opponent was a Legendary-tier NPC… someone whose combat power was so overwhelming that, even after taking a barrage of tens of thousands of B-tier spells, he should still have been able to hold out for quite some time.

But to think that such a seemingly troublesome target could be resolved so simply?

“What else did you expect? Or did you really think that so-called NPCs, in the eyes of us players, are nothing more than system-generated illusions, just clumps of nonexistent data?”

Yunchou lowered his voice, speaking at a volume only the Vice Guild Leader beside him could hear.

“There are some things I can’t say too much about, but you need to understand one thing. This Virtual Game isn’t as simple as it looks on the surface…”

“You just need to know that, from now on, the game will begin to interfere with reality, and reality will, in turn, interfere with the game.”

“The game interfering with reality? And reality interfering with the game?”

The Vice Guild Leader muttered, disbelief and shock welling up inside him, making him doubt whether Yunchou’s words could possibly be true.

“You don’t want to believe it, huh? Well, that’s only natural. Anyone would find something like this hard to believe. It sounds far too fantastical, after all. But everything I said is the truth. And besides…”

Yunchou’s gaze drifted toward Karl, who was still suspended in the air.

“When that NPC drops his Legendary-tier template, I’ll hand it over to you. By then, when you find yourself wielding the power of a Legend in the real world, you’ll understand that everything I said is true…”

Looking at Yunchou, who spoke of such things with utter ease, there was no doubt that anyone who could say something like that had to be either a lunatic… or a complete madman.

And yet, the Vice Guild Leader couldn’t help but feel an urge to believe him.

“Really? If what you said is true, then just who exactly are you?”

Indeed, Yunchou’s appearance in the guild had been far too sudden.

He had been a player who registered for the game a while later than everyone else.

Before this, he hadn’t even had any experience with Virtual Games.

Yet despite joining later than others, he’d quickly climbed to stand among the ranks of top-tier players, never once falling behind.

Not only that, but due to a coincidence during a certain incident some time ago, he had caught the Guild Leader’s attention and favor, leading to his personal invitation into the guild.

From there, with several seemingly casual strategies, he rose to become the guild’s tactician-level figure. He even used online leaks about players being able to change classes into Undead to predict the invasion of the Undead and had the guild fully prepared in advance.

And after that…

He predicted that the Northern Fortress would become the Undead’s main foothold and crafted the entire plan to assassinate Karl.

Just these feats alone were enough for the Vice Guild Leader to realize that the person standing before him wasn’t a madman… but someone who genuinely knew something.

“Who am I?”

Yunchou smiled faintly at the Vice Guild Leader’s question.

“…You probably wouldn’t believe me if I told you. But I’m someone from the future.”

“…”

The Vice Guild Leader only curled his lips at that. Said in such a joking tone, he certainly wasn’t going to take it seriously.

Even if he didn’t believe it, he found himself growing increasingly curious about the things Yunchou seemed to know.

”ou’re giving me the Legendary template this time? What about you? Don’t you need it?”

Realizing he wouldn’t get any real answers, the Vice Guild Leader could only change the subject.

“That, huh. Legendary templates might be rare, but to me, they’re far from absolute.”

Yunchou shook his head at the question.

“To tell you the truth, a player can only ever fuse with one template in their lifetime. Whatever tier that template is, that’ll be the limit of your power forever. As for me, the power I seek… isn’t at the level of Legend.”

By this point, Yunchou’s meaning was already clear.

The template he desired wasn’t Legendary-tier.

It was one above that, at the very peak of the world, at the top of the food chain, the grand Throne-tier.

And at that moment, Karl, still hovering in the air, finally moved.

“Outsider, I must see you release them before I end my life.”

Karl’s concern was that Yunchou might go back on his word after his death.

“Well, no need to worry. I’ll let them go right now. This way, you can be at ease, can’t you?”

“Mm…”

Karl closed his eyes.

Then his gaze fell upon the army below.

“Everyone—”

His voice suddenly grew loud, echoing across the silent valley.

“If you still heed my command, if you still recognize me as your leader, then withdraw from the valley at once…”
