Volume 1, Chapter 11 – The Name of 【Fairy】 (Part 3)

The entire leveling area had fallen into chaos.

After the first volley of arrows, the players who had charged the girl head-on were instantly struck down, their fragile bodies bursting into white light as they disappeared from everyone’s view.

Panic filled the air along with the players’ frantic shouts.

The girl’s face remained expressionless, her long black hair swaying slightly as she lifted her arm again.

Her slender fingers once more touched the bowstring.

Then…

Light scattered into countless particles, gathering once more.

“Not good! Mages, cast shields on the front line, now!”

A sharp-eyed player noticed the girl’s movements and shouted in alarm.

The mages in the back immediately raised their staves.

Since they hadn’t officially advanced to the Mage class yet, their casting required no chanting time. As soon as their staves were lifted, the System would automatically register the spell as successful.

But…

Before the mages could even finish raising their staves, the girl had already released the string.

Whizz—!

The sound of the air being torn apart echoed sharply. In an instant, more than a dozen glowing arrows appeared before everyone’s eyes, shooting through the air and piercing straight into the bodies of the frontline melee players.

Because the Priests hadn’t healed them in time, some of the players who were already low on HP turned into pale white light the moment the arrows struck, vanishing completely.

They’d been killed by the girl.

“Damn… there’s no way… a mere level 5 player could do something like this!”

A player stared at her with fear, his steps halting.

And like dominoes falling one after another, once one stopped, the rest followed. Within seconds, nearly everyone had stopped moving forward.

After all, charging ahead only meant dying without ever reaching her. Giving up was the only logical choice left.

Even though their side also had archers, the problem was that the girl’s bow had more than double their range.

So yes, surrendering seemed like the only reasonable thing to do.

“Amazing… she’s so strong…”

The red-haired girl’s eyes sparkled with awe.

Meanwhile, the girl holding the bow stared calmly at the armored man standing in the distance, silent.

“I didn’t expect this… well, I guess the rumors were true. You really were one of the top 100 ranked players…”

A low, heavy voice echoed as the armored man lifted his spear and began to walk forward.

“An infinitely scalable rare personal weapon… and a rare Elf Race at that. No matter the game, it’s always players like you that get favored by it, huh…”

He slowly walked past the crowd of players, the eyes hidden beneath his helmet glinting dangerously like those of a hungry wolf.

“The so-called legendary Fairy. If we strip away all the gifts the game’s given you… how strong are you really?”

As soon as his voice fell—

Without warning, the armored man stomped his armored right foot hard into the ground.

A loud thud followed.

In the next instant, using the force of that impact, the man launched himself forward at blinding speed straight toward the girl.

The spear in his hand gleamed as he gripped it tightly.

“Sister Xiaomu!?”

Seeing the sudden charge, Tianyin let out a worried cry.

The players who had stopped earlier instinctively backed away to keep a safe distance. Some watched the unfolding battle without blinking, while others silently activated their System’s recording function to capture every second of the fight.

“Haa…”

The girl exhaled softly.

She still stood exactly where she was, bending her wooden bow once more, her pale fingers resting upon the string.

Light gathered again.

And in the next instant, an arrow made entirely of light flew forth!

Whizz—!

The piercing sound echoed again. The charging armored man flinched for just a moment.

A second later, several of the onlookers suddenly cried out.

“Ah…!”

“What the hell? My knee… why did I just take an arrow to the knee?!”

The scene descended into brief confusion, but then someone realized what had actually happened.

“He dodged it! He dodged the arrow!”

Someone exclaimed in disbelief.

Normally, when an arrow reached such a speed that the naked eye couldn’t track it, dodging it at close range was impossible. It was common sense, like trying to dodge a bullet, it simply couldn’t be done.

But in that moment, that common sense was shattered.

With an almost imperceptible shift of his body, the armored man had evaded the arrow aimed straight at him!

“Hey, hey, is that all you’ve got?”

He drew closer and closer to the girl. After dodging another of her arrows, the armored man thrust his spear forward with explosive force.

“This time, you’ll obediently become one of the Xuanyuan Alliance!”
