Volume 2, Chapter 18 – The Smiling Demon

“Do you see that ‘True’ character, Vice Guild Leader.”

Yunchou lowered his voice again and asked with a smile.

“True?”

The Vice Guild Leader had indeed seen the character 【True】 but he did not actually know what that True meant.

“True means, well, true, Vice Guild Leader. If you follow what I say, this job change scroll can give you the power of a Legendary template both in the real world and in the game.”

Merely gaining Legendary-template power inside the game was enough to tempt the Vice Guild Leader, and being able to possess that power in the real world as well made his heart race even more.

At the same time it was precisely the possibility of having Legendary power in the real world that had led the Vice Guild Leader to cooperate with Yunchou’s plan earlier and to willingly hand over the pick-up rights for the items that dropped from Karl’s death to Yunchou.

After all, by rights the loot pick-up should have belonged to him as one of the guild’s elders.

Of course, there was no real loss for the Vice Guild Leader here. If Yunchou was lying he could report what Yunchou had done, and if it was true then he would actually be able to gain Legendary-template power in the real world.

No matter how he looked at it, even in the worst case he still stood to gain.

“Use it, Vice Guild Leader. Just tear open the scroll, but after you use the scroll please do one thing for me.”

“What is it?”

Now that he had the scroll in hand, although he still publicly acted as if cooperating with Yunchou, the Vice Guild Leader had already positioned himself higher in his head.

‘Let me find a chance to see if I truly gain Legendary power in the real world, and if I do then what’s the point of giving you the Throne ability you want.’

While speaking with Yunchou he had already decided he might not keep the promise he had made earlier.

On the contrary, he planned to burn the bridges behind Yunchou when the time came.

However for now he would give Yunchou some face since it was not yet the time to turn hostile.

“Vice Guild Leader, actually it’s simple.”

Yunchou said slowly and pointed a finger toward the nearby valley mouth.

“As the saying goes you should cut the grass and pull up the roots. Are you really planning to let those NPCs leave? Know this, our operation today was done without the Graveyard knowing. If the Graveyard learns that their Kingdom’s Legendary was killed, and that we were the culprits, there will be no place for us in this game in the future.”

Indeed.

If those NPCs were just allowed to leave they might well tell others about what had happened today.

“So… what do you mean?”

Although he understood what Yunchou meant, the Vice Guild Leader still wanted confirmation.

“Of course…”

Yunchou’s pupils were ink-black and unchanged, and the only thing that had changed was that his smile had grown even brighter.

“Wipe them out completely, Vice Guild Leader.”

At the instant those words were spoken the Vice Guild Leader felt as if his heart had stopped.

For a moment he had the sudden illusion that he was not facing a player but a smiling demon.

But the feeling came and went quickly and the Vice Guild Leader soon pulled himself together from his shock.

“Alright, I understand. I will take my men and do it right away.”

“Of course. The sooner the better. Every second might allow an NPC to escape.”

Yunchou said slowly.

“By the way, Vice Guild Leader, I have a small suggestion. You could, while all the guild players go to surround and slaughter those NPCs, use that scroll. That way you can experience the power of the Legendary rank without anyone interrupting you. What do you think?”

It must be said the suggestion Yunchou made moved the Vice Guild Leader.
