Volume 1, Chapter 12 – The Name of 【Fairy】 (Part 4)
Since ancient times, everyone has known that archers are not close-combat units. Especially when facing a heavy-armored type like a tank, archers simply can’t compete.
After all, archers are ranged attackers, so their melee ability is far inferior to that of specialized close-range fighters. That was just common sense.
And right now, Xingyu Muxi, an archer, was facing exactly that situation, an armored man had closed the distance between them.
The moment the man shifted his stance, his spear had already begun its thrust.
Now, as he neared Xingyu Muxi, the spear in his hands carried a force too overwhelming to describe, driving forward at a terrifying speed straight for her heart.
“Watch out!”
The red-haired girl watching from the side shouted in panic.
“Even the top 100-ranked Fairy can’t fight back once she’s caught in melee!”
The other players from the Xuanyuan Alliance, however, watched with satisfaction as the spear was about to pierce the girl’s heart.
And then… as Tianyin’s eyes followed the spearhead rushing toward Xingyu Muxi, she suddenly felt something strange, indescribable emotion quietly building up inside her mind.
As the sharp tip drew closer to Xingyu Muxi, that emotion within Tianyin grew stronger and stronger, swelling like an unstoppable tide.

Time slowed to the millisecond.
That strange emotion continued to surge, restless, ready to erupt.
Another millisecond passed.
In Tianyin’s vision, the gleaming spear tip nearly overlapped with the hem of the girl’s dress.
“Despicable being…”
A voice rang faintly in Tianyin’s mind, unfamiliar, yet filled with overwhelming arrogance.
At almost the same moment, a faint, eerie violet light flickered within Tianyin’s jewel-like eyes.
But the next instant, the light vanished completely, and the surging emotion in her heart disappeared along with it, leaving no trace.
“Eh… what just happened…?”
A blank space seemed to appear in her memory. The only thing Tianyin could recall clearly was the instant the armored man thrust his spear toward Xingyu Muxi.
“Wait, Sister Xiaomu!”

Startled, Tianyin quickly turned to look in Xingyu Muxi’s direction.
What she saw made her freeze completely.
The same went for every other player present, and the red-haired girl too.
In the middle of the field, the beautiful girl stood with her longbow in hand, her expression calm and unshaken.
Before her, the armored man’s body was frozen in mid-motion, his spear still extended in a stabbing posture.
At first glance, anyone would have thought the weapon had already pierced the girl’s heart.
But reality told a different story.
The spear had indeed been thrust forward, but that was all.
Because before the sharp tip could touch her, a wooden longbow had blocked its path, stopping it dead.
“Miscalculated…”

The man’s low voice carried both shock and disbelief.
Even as he spoke, everyone could see the HP bar above his head plummeting at a speed visible to the naked eye.
“I didn’t expect… the legendary Fairy… isn’t even an archer after all…”
“I never said I was.”
Her voice was flat, emotionless, her eyes calm as still water.
Then, she stepped back slightly.
The longbow was withdrawn, and the spear, no longer supported by the man’s strength, fell limply in his grasp.
As the girl moved back, a simple, ordinary-looking dagger appeared clearly in her hand.
“What… class is that?”
Seeing the girl wield both a bow and now a dagger, several players couldn’t help but mutter in confusion.
But clearly, no one present could answer that question.

“Fairy, I’ve lost this time. But once we’re out of the beginner’s village, I’ll come for you again!”
With those words, the man’s body turned into white light and vanished from the world.
The moment he disappeared, the remaining Xuanyuan Alliance players quickly scattered as well, retreating in a panic until they were gone from sight.
“Sister Xiaomu!”
The sudden danger had passed, yet Tianyin’s heart still trembled with lingering fear.
Worrying for her, Tianyin began walking toward where the girl stood.
As for running… she really didn’t want to trip over nothing and fall flat on her face again…
“Xiaoyin…”
Hearing her name, Xingyu Muxi’s cold expression softened, and a warm, gentle smile bloomed across her beautiful face.
