Legendary.
For the players who were beginning to understand this game world, the so-called “Legendary” was equivalent to those mythical figures that could only exist in legends in the real world.
Yes, that was how powerful a Legend was.
In this game, the theoretical maximum level was 1000.
That incredibly high level cap and the exponentially growing experience pool made every player who wanted to grow stronger through leveling alone give up in despair.
However, a Legendary template’s base attributes were far superior to those of an ordinary white-tier template, and the experience required to level up was far less.
Because of this setting, having a good template was far more important than raising one’s level.
According to the System’s setup, a Level 1 Legend was equivalent in combat power to a Level 100 white-tier, while a Level 100 Legend was comparable to a Level 1000 white-tier player, essentially equal to the max level.
At first, countless players complained about this completely unfair setting, but even now, it hadn’t changed at all.
Of course, what kept the players from being too upset was that, among them, the highest-tier attribute templates were only one rank above white-tier, the blue-tier.
So, for players who could only dream of becoming Legendary, they gradually accepted the reality after realizing that complaints were useless.
That acceptance, however, was based on one assumption that every player’s natural attribute template ranged only from white to blue-tier.
But if, out of nowhere, a player possessing a Legendary-tier template appeared, someone whose level was nearly the same as theirs…
Then things would be very different.

But…
“What’s that got to do with me?”
The Vice Guild Leader smiled faintly, his gaze calm and distant.
Because he had needed to perform his Legendary job change, he had chosen a place with a rather narrow field of view, but one that was completely hidden from others.
Because of that, he still had no idea what was actually happening outside.
“Well, to think those NPCs are still putting up such pointless resistance… I really don’t understand what goes on in their heads. Even a Legendary Paladin’s already dead. What could they possibly use to fight back? Can’t they just die quietly?”
He honestly couldn’t figure it out.
Although Yunchou had told him before that this game world wasn’t as simple as it appeared on the surface, even after hearing that, the Vice Guild Leader still couldn’t change his view that NPCs were nothing more than rigid data constructs.
“Just a bunch of NPCs.”
He shook his head. He figured he’d better head out soon. If he stayed too long and attracted undead, things could get troublesome.
“Seriously, in the end, I always have to clean up the mess myself…”
The Vice Guild Leader muttered in mild irritation. But even now, despite having obtained the power of a Legend, he knew that he couldn’t let that strength make him arrogant. There were still tasks that had to be handled properly.
With that in mind, he slowly made his way toward an area with a wider view.

“Hmm… how much of my strength should I use when I make my move?”
Though he had already decided to personally deal with the remaining NPCs, another important problem came to mind.
That was, how exactly should he deal with them?
Even though he now possessed Legendary power, he couldn’t reveal it too early. He might be strong, but without an overwhelming level advantage, he still needed to keep it hidden.
So, how could he eliminate the NPCs without letting the guild members notice his change? That was the main problem he had to solve.
“Hmm… Well, for now, let’s just take a look and see what’s going on.”
At last, the Vice Guild Leader reached that conclusion, choosing to take things step by step.
It was then that he realized he had already reached a vantage point where he could see the distant battlefield clearly.
“Alright then, let’s see which one of you managed to scare them like that.”
Muttering to himself, the Vice Guild Leader directed his gaze toward the battlefield in the distance.
And the next second, his once-calm, composed expression stunned.
His mouth opened slightly, then widened.
“What… what the hell…”

His voice trembled with disbelief.
Yes, disbelief.
From the moment his eyes landed on the battlefield, the good mood he’d been in after obtaining Legendary power sank into heaviness.
The reason was because of the sight before his eyes.
As a Legendary-tier being, both his perception and vision had been greatly enhanced. But what he saw out there was completely different from what he had imagined.
According to his expectations, the battlefield should have been one-sided, the guild’s players mercilessly harvesting NPC experience, while NPCs died one after another, their bodies dissolving into glowing motes of light and fading away.
That was how the battlefield was supposed to look.
But what now lay before him was completely different.
The entire battlefield was scarred and torn apart, riddled with cracks from fierce combat. The marks of magical explosions marred the ground, broken arrows were scattered everywhere, and the NPCs’ numbers had indeed decreased compared to when they withdrew from the valley.
But, what shocked the Vice Guild Leader was…
Not a single player could be seen moving anywhere on the battlefield.
“…”
He fell silent.

Not only were there no signs of guild members, but to his astonishment, the remaining NPCs seemed to be cleaning up the battlefield.
“Cleaning… the battlefield?”
Yes, he wasn’t mistaken. The NPCs were actually tidying up the field.
“…So what the hell happened?”
Confusion, disbelief, and an anger that began to rise within him.
Not anger at the NPCs, but at the fact that just minutes ago, there had been thousands of players out there…
And now not a single one remained.
“So… what the hell happened?”
Amid his anger and confusion, an uneasy feeling quietly crept into his heart.
Because even if the NPCs had made a desperate counterattack, how could they possibly have wiped out over ten thousand players in just a few minutes?
This was way too strange, wasn’t it?
