Volume 2, Chapter 29 – The Silver-Haired Little Girl
“So, what exactly happened?”
Watching the NPCs in the distance tidying up the battlefield, which in reality meant they were picking up the weapons and equipment dropped by dead players, the Vice Guild Leader frowned deeply.
What puzzled him most was the very scene before his eyes.
Just as he was trying to piece together what had happened, a sudden chill ran through his body. A sharp, instinctive sense of danger that made his heart clench.
He didn’t know where that feeling came from, but his instincts screamed at him to move. Driven purely by reflex, he dodged.
In the very next instant, a golden beam of light crashed down from the sky, striking exactly where he had been standing just a moment ago. The impact shattered the ground into fragments, sending clouds of dust billowing upward.
“…Whew.”
Having narrowly escaped what would’ve been a direct hit, he felt a rush of relief. He quickly turned toward the source of the golden beam.
“Oh…? You actually dodged that?”
Hovering in the distance was a girl with long silver-white hair. Her appearance was unbelievably adorable, yet she floated effortlessly in midair.
Despite her small, delicate figure, the pressure radiating from her made the Vice Guild Leader feel suffocated.
It wasn’t just pressure, it was the same kind of oppressive aura one felt when standing before a dungeon boss.
“…Who are you?”
He called out cautiously. The girl was high above, and even with his enhanced Legendary-tier vision, the distance made it hard for him to see her clearly.
Still, even if he couldn’t make out her face, there was something oddly familiar about her presence. He just couldn’t recall why.

“Who am I?”
The girl tilted her head slightly in midair.
“Does it even matter who I am?”
She answered in a soft, almost casual tone.
Then, the golden sword she held, its blade gleaming like sunlight, slowly turned, its tip pointing straight at the Vice Guild Leader.
“For questions like that, I really don’t think there’s any need for an answer, you know?”
Her voice was light, almost playful, but the killing intent emanating from that sword’s tip was unmistakable. The Vice Guild Leader could feel it clearly.
“If you die under my sword, do you really think those questions will matter?”
She said this lightly, and swung her sword.
In a flash, a cold gleam streaked past his eyes. The instant the light appeared, a primal warning exploded in his mind.
If he didn’t dodge right now, he’d be dead in the very next second.
Whether by instinct or desperation, the Vice Guild Leader threw himself into a tactical roll, darting forward just in time.
A loud boom echoed beneath him as the ground split open. From the corner of his eye, he saw a deep, bottomless fissure where he had been standing moments ago.
“Eh…? How strange… you weren’t supposed to dodge that. You should’ve just obediently died, shouldn’t you? Isn’t it weird that you avoided it?”

The silver-haired girl muttered to herself, her delicate brows slightly furrowed, her cute face showing genuine surprise.
“…Whew.”
But the Vice Guild Leader’s heart was pounding in shock.
By all logic, with his Legendary-tier power, defeating a mere NPC girl should’ve been effortless.
Yet things were completely different from what he had imagined. The moment she swung her sword, he had felt an unmistakable sense of mortal danger.
This NPC… was not simple.
Not only that, she was strong.
Very strong.
At the very least… She was also Legendary.
He fixed his wary gaze on the girl in the sky. The girl, in turn, tilted her head slightly, curiosity flickering in her eyes as she looked back at him.
“…My comrades… were they all killed by you?”
While trying to steady his breathing, the Vice Guild Leader attempted to communicate.
“Hmm? Yep~ Those comrades of yours, I killed them all, one by one~”
The silver-haired girl smiled sweetly as she answered.
It was then that the Vice Guild Leader noticed something unsettling. Her beautiful eyes, which should have been clear and bright, were glowing faintly with a sinister, blood-red light.

“What’s wrong? You want to avenge your comrades?”
She spoke slowly, her tone calm but mocking.
“Well, don’t think I don’t know. Those comrades of yours can’t really die. Even if they’re killed, they’ll just revive right away…”
Revive.
Yes, players could revive. To the NPCs of this world, that was no secret anymore.
“If you already know killing them doesn’t really kill them, then why do it?”
The Vice Guild Leader kept talking, while secretly gathering power for a counterattack, planning to strike the silver-haired girl with a surprise move.
“If killing them won’t change anything, why not just let them go?”
“Let them go? Why would I let them go?”
The silver-haired girl blinked, her tone genuinely puzzled.
“If I can kill them, why should I let them go? You’re weird… Whatever, I don’t want to talk about weird things with weird people. You should just let me kill you obediently and revive obediently~”
After saying that, she didn’t intend to continue the conversation. Her small hand tightened around the sword’s hilt, ready to bring it down.
But the very moment she began to swing…
The Vice Guild Leader’s previously calm eyes turned sharp and fierce.

“You want to kill me?”
His legs bent, the ground beneath him sinking slightly from the sudden pressure.
Then, with a powerful kick.
Rumble—!
The earth cracked beneath his feet as he launched himself upward, using the rebound force to propel himself straight toward Tianyin.
Though his movements looked intricate, in real time it all happened within a single second.
One second. The silver-haired girl had only just begun to lift her sword.
But…
“You’re too slow. So, get down here!”
With a low growl, his figure appeared before the girl in an instant.
His right fist clenched tight, then drove forward with explosive force.
Vrrrm—!
As the punch flew, the air itself seemed to rip apart.
