Volume 1, Chapter 14 – Rapidly Rising Levels

As the most basic level 1 wild monster, the Red-Eyed Rabbit’s harmless appearance perfectly reflected its weak combat ability.

After the battle ended and the players gradually left the area, the Red-Eyed Rabbits finally respawned across the field.

Judging from its HP bar, a Red-Eyed Rabbit had around 100 HP.

“Eh… so I’m actually weaker than an ordinary rabbit…”

Seeing that even a mere level 1 rabbit had a higher HP cap than hers, Tianyin felt a little disheartened.

“Xiaoyin, in a moment I’ll control that rabbit’s HP, then I’ll leave the finishing blow to you. You know what to do next, right?”

Also noticing the respawned rabbits, Xingyu Muxi naturally said this plan.

Indeed, in almost all games, experience points were gained either by completing quests or defeating enemies.

Wild monsters counted as hostile units, so as long as they were defeated, obtaining experience would be simple.

“Yeah… Sister Xiaomu, I know what to do next… but…”

“But?”

“I don’t have a weapon… um, you know, to kill it I’d need one, right?”

“Ah, sorry, Xiaoyin, I didn’t think of that just now… Well, it just so happens I’ve got a spare dagger. You can use this for now.”

“Okay.”

Taking the dagger Xingyu Muxi handed to her, Tianyin curiously examined it for a while, but there wasn’t anything special about it. It looked like an ordinary plain whiteboard weapon.

“Alright, Xiaoyin, wait for me to finish my attack first.”

After handing over the dagger, Xingyu Muxi’s expression turned serious.

She lifted her wooden bow and repeated the same motion as before to fire an arrow.

Whoosh—!

The sharp sound of the arrow cutting through the air rang out. This time, however, there weren’t multiple arrows like before, but only one. Moreover, the arrow flew noticeably slower. It was obvious to anyone paying attention that Xingyu Muxi had intentionally reduced its power.

Still, despite the slower speed, after a few seconds the arrow accurately struck the Red-Eyed Rabbit that had just respawned and was quietly nibbling on the weeds in the field.

“-99”

A blood-red number floated slowly above the rabbit’s head. From Tianyin’s perspective, the rabbit’s HP bar was instantly drained by Xingyu Muxi’s attack.

“Amazing…”

Tianyin couldn’t help but be impressed, though amazement aside, it was time for her to finish the job.

In a sense, it was just giving that almost-dead rabbit the final hit.

She ran up to the rabbit. Although she felt reluctant to strike such a cute creature, reminding herself that this was only a game, Tianyin finally swung the dagger down.

Pshh—!

The dagger pierced into the Red-Eyed Rabbit’s body, and the little bit of HP it had left dropped to zero.

In an instant, the rabbit before Tianyin’s eyes turned into a pale white light and disappeared.

“Ugh… the kill… succeeded…!”

Seeing that she had successfully defeated the rabbit herself, Tianyin, who had never played this kind of game before, couldn’t help but feel excited.

“Well, of course Xiaoyin can do it~”

Seeing Tianyin’s success, Xingyu Muxi walked over with a cheerful smile and praised her.

“But Xiaoyin, since you killed that rabbit, did you get any experience?”

“Um… let me see…”

As she spoke, Tianyin opened her status screen. In that moment, her expression froze, no, it was more like disbelief.

“Sis… Sister Xiaomu…”

“What’s wrong, Xiaoyin?”

“I… I think… I leveled up…”

“That’s impossible. You only killed one rabbit…”

Xingyu Muxi was completely puzzled, but when she looked up at the HP bar above Tianyin’s head, the “LV1” that had been there before had somehow turned into “LV2”.

“Huh, it really did…”

Seeing it with her own eyes, Xingyu Muxi had no choice but to accept the fact that Tianyin had leveled up after killing just one rabbit.

“Well, this means that as an NPC, Tianyin probably levels up much faster than we players do~”

“Um… I think so too, Sister Xiaomu…”

The actual reason was unknown due to limited information, so Xingyu Muxi decided to simply attribute it to Tianyin’s identity as an NPC.

“Then, Xiaoyin, why don’t you try killing a few more rabbits? Maybe your leveling conditions are way easier than ours~”

“Yeah, I’ll listen to you, Sister Xiaomu.”

Tianyin nodded obediently.

Three minutes later.

Her level became LV3.

Five minutes later.

Her level reached LV4.

And as time went on, Tianyin’s level began skyrocketing at a rate that ordinary players couldn’t even imagine.

After about three hours of grinding, just by killing rabbits, Tianyin had already reached the Novice Village level cap, Level 10.
