Volume 2, Chapter 47 – Something Feels a Bit Off

After realizing that she had been fighting an imaginary battle with herself all this time, Tianyin finally made up her mind to go to the Graveyard’s camp… to “borrow” some food supplies.

But what disappointed her was… why did this kind of supply shortage have to happen now? And why exactly when she became the leader of this team?

“So what the hell is this? Isn’t this way too much of a coincidence?”

Tianyin sighed, her gem-like eyes looking dazed and unfocused, as if her mind had drifted far away.

“But now that I think about it…”

She suddenly remembered something that didn’t seem like a major issue, yet somehow felt like a fatal one.

“What is it, Master? Did something happen?”

“No… Xiaomengyao… I just suddenly thought of something…”

Tianyin opened her small mouth, looking at Mengyao with a face full of confusion.

“Where exactly am I supposed to go… to get the supplies?”

“Eh…?”

That question honestly stumped Xiaomengyao, and she showed a face of pure surprise.

“Master, didn’t those people tell you about that?”

By “those people,” she actually meant Sharl and Orgum. But since Xiaomengyao wasn’t too familiar with them, she simply phrased it vaguely.

In response, Tianyin just looked blank.

“No… they didn’t tell me… I think… I think they didn’t…”

Wait, what kind of uncertain tone was that even supposed to be?

“They didn’t? Well, Master, you should probably go ask them then. Since they were the ones who came up with this plan, they’d definitely know where to find it.”

What Xiaomengyao said made perfect sense. Tianyin’s expression immediately turned into an adorable “Ah, why didn’t I think of that” look.

“Oh, right! I should go ask Sharl and the others…”

“Pfft, so Master didn’t even think about asking them in the first place? Master’s still as silly as ever…”

“Can you please stop calling me stupid…”

Tianyin felt that under her loli disciple’s influence, she could never escape the words “stupid” and “dumb.”

But seriously, how was she stupid? How was she dumb?

It’s just that sometimes she didn’t immediately react to certain things, or couldn’t come up with solutions on the spot. And sure, maybe her odds of tripping over nothing were higher than normal…

‘But even so, I was definitely not stupid, alright?!’

Her little face puffed up in a pout, looking like she was about to get mad.

“Pfft, alright, alright, Master, don’t make that cute face! Seeing that expression just makes you look adorably dumb~”

Adorably dumb?

No, no, that’s backwards!

Her disciple was getting more and more disrespectful!

“Forget it, I’ll just go find Sharl and ask how to get to the Graveyard’s food supplies…”

Tianyin glared at Mengyao, then marched off with her short, slightly pitiful legs toward where Sharl and Orgum were waiting. She clearly didn’t want to continue this argument about whether or not she was “adorably dumb.”

After all, in the end, Tianyin knew she’d only get bullied by Xiaomengyao anyway.

When she found Sharl and Orgum, the two of them seemed to be in the middle of a discussion. But as soon as they saw Tianyin approaching, their demeanor straightened instantly, both of them standing at attention and greeting her with the formal gesture that only NPC subordinates would use toward their superior.

Believe it or not, even though Tianyin didn’t really like these stiff, formal gestures, when she was the one at the top being saluted like this, it felt… kind of amazing.

Only in moments like these did Tianyin’s mood recover from the frustration she’d felt earlier after being “bullied” by Xiaomengyao.

“Master, do you have any orders for us?”

Sharl asked respectfully. Because Tianyin was a loli and her body was so small, both Sharl and the towering Orgum, massive and muscular as he was, chose to kneel on one knee to show their respect, so they could speak to her at eye level…

Yes, even with them kneeling, they were only just about eye level with her.

That alone showed how tragically short Tianyin really was…

“Mhm, I’m not here for anything major this time.” Tianyin got straight to the point.

“I thought about it, and I’ve decided I’ll go get the supplies myself. Since I have Throne-level power, it should be easy for me to handle.”

Hearing that, Sharl and Orgum exchanged a quick glance, both of them looking utterly shocked.

“Hmm? What’s with those surprised faces all of a sudden?”

Tianyin pouted unhappily.

“N-no, Master, we’re not surprised, we’re just… pleasantly surprised!”

Sharl lowered his head in a flustered response. As for why Orgum hadn’t said anything this whole time, actually, the two of them had already discussed it earlier. Since Tianyin looked mostly human, Orgum, being a Beastman, decided it would be better for Sharl, who was also human, to do the talking.

It was their way of showing how deeply they respected her.

To be honest, Orgum hadn’t even shown this kind of respect to the Legendary Karl before, yet when facing Tianyin, he was almost reverent.

It wasn’t hard to see that in the eyes of the world, the gap between a Throne and a Legend, though technically just one rank, was treated with a completely different level of awe.

“Alright then, pleasantly surprised it is. Anyway, I’ve already agreed to handle it myself, but can you tell me where I should go to get the food supplies we need?”

“That’s something Master doesn’t need to worry about.”

Sharl replied naturally.

“Master, not far from where we’re resting right now, there’s a small fortress that the Kingdom once used to stockpile military supplies against the Strongholds.”

As he said that, Sharl’s eyes instinctively flicked toward Orgum. But Orgum’s face remained unreadable, showing no emotion at all.

Sharl continued, “If I’m not mistaken, the Graveyard hasn’t touched that fortress. Although they’ve occupied it, they haven’t moved the supplies inside… Everyone knows, after all, that the undead have no need for food.”

“Wuu, so you’re saying there’s a fortress nearby that used to stockpile military supplies, right?”

Tianyin found the situation far too coincidental. They just happened to run out of supplies, and right nearby there just happened to be a fortress full of food?

That was way too convenient.

Tianyin couldn’t help but feel that something about all this was… seriously suspicious.
