Volume 2, Chapter 50 – The Anxious Girl

With just a single strike, the fortress was cleaved in two. On the split ground below, a massive trench, tens of meters deep, appeared before Tianyin and the girl’s eyes.

“That’s… Xiaoyin…”

The girl stood in a daze. Though her eyes still held joy, there was also shock.

And in her mind, she finally recalled what she had heard earlier at the tavern, The rumor about Tianyin.

One person… had wiped out tens of thousands of players.

Until just moments ago, the girl had thought those stories were exaggerated by boastful players. But now, having witnessed Tianyin’s strike with her own eyes, her emotions became unbearably complicated.

Deeply conflicted.

“To suddenly have gained such power… it seems… Xiaoyin no longer needs me to protect her anymore…”

Murmuring softly to herself, her voice carried a faint trace of loneliness.

While the girl was lost in her thoughts, Tianyin, after erasing most of the undead in the fortress with a single blow, looked down from above, her elevated position giving her a clear view of everything. Soon, she noticed a pile of food supplies within the fortress, exposed after her attack had cleaved the walls apart.

“Well, this solves the food problem, doesn’t it?”

Since she had to unleash the full power of the Seven Deadly Sins, it was still Samael who was currently controlling Tianyin’s body. So even though it sounded like Tianyin speaking, the one truly talking was Samael.

After muttering those words to herself, Tianyin’s figure vanished from the sky in an instant.

No matter how one looked at it, things were going remarkably smoothly.

Originally, because the number of undead inside the fortress was large, she had decided to use a large-scale AoE skill to clear the field. What she hadn’t expected, however, was that her single attack would directly expose the fortress’s hidden food supply.

“Well… whatever the case, let’s just store it all in the inventory first…”

Flashing beside the pile of supplies, Tianyin began preparing to collect them.

Since both NPCs and players possessed inventories, picking up and storing items like this was extremely simple in the game.

In theory, as long as the inventory’s capacity was large enough, the number of items that could be stored could be practically limitless.

And Tianyin’s inventory, well, it was unusually broken. Though she didn’t know the exact capacity limits of others’ inventories, she knew very well that hers was absurdly large.

“Oh my, it seems even with all this stuff here, Xiaoyin’s inventory can easily hold it all.”

She muttered that to herself casually.

Of course, given the nature of the inventory system, collecting everything in front of her was merely a matter of seconds.

However…

Accidents often happened precisely when one let their guard down.

For example, an overwhelming presence suddenly appeared within Tianyin’s perception before she even noticed it.

And in the next moment, a sharp attack, so fast it seemed to tear through the air, came whistling straight toward her.

The instant Tianyin sensed the incoming strike, she instinctively reacted to evade.

Her figure vanished from her position in a split second.

But unfortunately, though the attack missed Tianyin, it struck the pile of food supplies instead.

A deafening boom rang out as the once neatly stacked food exploded into pieces, scattering across the ground.

Fortunately, Tianyin had already stored part of the supplies in her inventory earlier, so she still managed to secure some of it.

“Well… that was close~ almost hit me.”

Still controlling Tianyin’s body, Samael muttered to herself, though by now Tianyin’s form had reappeared above the fortress.

Following the trajectory of the attack back to its source… Tianyin finally saw what had attacked her.

It was a massive, rusted iron hook.

The corroded hook lay quietly on the ground, its end wrapped in a similarly rusted chain that stretched off into the distance.

And at the far end of that chain… stood a gigantic shadow, motionless and silent.

Tianyin’s pupils narrowed sharply. She didn’t know who that figure was, but the oppressive pressure radiating from it was unmistakable.

“…Filthy human… thief…”

The enormous figure growled in a deep, raspy voice, dragging the heavy chain along the ground as it slowly moved toward Tianyin.

The giant chain scraped across the earth, producing a harsh metallic screech.

As the creature drew closer, Samael, still in control of Tianyin, was finally able to see its full appearance clearly.

It was a monster whose very body seemed forcibly stitched together from mismatched parts.

Its two arms were thick yet uneven, one long, one short, both grotesquely twisted.

From its hollowed-out abdomen, a crimson heart could be seen beating faintly.

And on its face, two bloodshot eyes, one large, one small, glared fixedly at Tianyin.

“Human…”

It spoke again, each word rumbling like distant thunder as it lumbered forward.

Yes, to Tianyin’s eyes, its steps seemed agonizingly slow.

But despite how sluggish it appeared, each step it took somehow brought it several dozen meters closer in an instant.

“This is…”

Tianyin frowned.

“The power of space…”

Not far away, neither the monster nor Samael, who was controlling Tianyin, noticed that another presence was watching them.

A short distance away, an elf-like girl, clearly a player, was staring toward them intently.

Of course, for a Throne-class being like Tianyin not to notice her was unthinkable… yet this time, Tianyin truly hadn’t noticed the girl at all.

And that girl’s eyes, as she watched the scene unfold, were filled with deep worry.

“Xiaoyin… is in danger…”

Even though she knew Tianyin had once wiped out tens of thousands of players alone, in her mind, Tianyin was still that clumsy little girl who always needed comforting.

Even after witnessing Tianyin’s devastating strike that nearly obliterated a fortress in one blow…

Still… The girl couldn’t help but worry for her.

“No… I can’t let Xiaoyin get hurt…”

In her eyes, the monster before her, after using Scout, was confirmed to be a true Legendary being.

But Tianyin…

Even if she could annihilate countless players with ease, this time she was facing a Legendary of the Graveyard.

So, instinctively, the girl believed that the coming battle would be a completely one-sided one…

“I need to think of something…”

As the towering figure drew closer and closer to Tianyin, the girl’s expression grew increasingly anxious.
