Volume 2, Chapter 109 – Epilogue
Volume 2, Chapter 109 – Epilogue
A long, long time ago.
A girl whom the Church once called a Vampire was saved by a dying boy.
In the burning square filled with corpses, the boy who was a knight was drenched in bright red blood.
“Don’t die, don’t die…”
The girl’s eyes were empty. In panic and despair, she held the boy’s gradually cold body tightly, her dress soaked in the blood flowing from him.
Rain began to fall from the sky.
Yet the girl still clung helplessly to the boy, crying in sorrow.
Her lips trembled as she whispered.
“Don’t die…”
Don’t die.
Don’t die.
Don’t die.
Don’t…
Don’t die…
Please… don’t leave me like this…
Sargus…
……
In an instant, Sargus awoke from the sudden flood of memories.
His unfocused pupils regained clarity, and before his eyes appeared the face of a beautiful girl.
“Lilith…”
Sargus stared fixedly at the girl before him.
“It’s me, Sargus.”
The girl smiled, her crimson eyes, the mark of a Vampire, reflecting Sargus’ battered figure.
“Sargus, without my permission, you’re not allowed to die.”
Not allowed to die.
A long, long time ago, back then, the girl before him had said those exact same words.
“Don’t talk, Lilith…”
Sargus was silent for a long while, then gently held the girl in his arms.
Her body was covered in wounds that made his heart ache.
“Idiot… why did you block those attacks for me?”

Sargus looked down at the Lilith in his arms and sighed helplessly.
“Because Sargus is my only First Embrace. So I absolutely can’t let Sargus die.”
First Embrace.
Although the girl before him, Lilith, was indeed the True Ancestor of Vampires, the source of all Vampires…
There had never truly been any Vampire belonging solely to her.
As the True Ancestor, in Sargus’ memories, Lilith had neither First Embrace nor subordinates.
But only now did Sargus remember.
Back then, when he was on the brink of death, it was this girl who had saved him.
“Sargus, don’t die.”
“I know, Lilith.”
Sargus could feel it, his heart was trembling uncontrollably.
“Stupid Sargus… what do you know…”
“I know, Lilith. I am your First Embrace.”
Sargus didn’t know what else to say.
He should have died back then. Yet he lived.
Now, the girl before him had suddenly appeared to block the attack from the Thrones.
But though the girl stood before him, even the Heavenly Father and the other Thrones, though enemies to Sargus, did not strike again.
It was as if they deliberately allowed the two of them to speak.
“My First Embrace… Sargus, do you know? I, Lilith, have had only you as my subordinate in all of a million years.”
“I know.”
Sargus nodded.
His strength was slowly returning, but it was like a drop in the ocean, he couldn’t do anything to sustain the girl’s fading life.
“Why are you so foolish, Lilith? Even if you blocked that strike for me, the next one will still kill me.”
What Lilith said, how she didn’t want Sargus to die, was true, but the truth was cruel.
Even if she blocked one attack, what about the next?
“Sargus, this time… I just want to die with you.”
“Sargus, I’ve already been with you for a million years.”
“I’ve gotten used to watching you from behind, watching the way the undead of the Graveyard respectfully call you Grand Duke.”
“For a million years, I’ve loved not just you, Sargus. I’ve also loved the you who is the Grand Duke of the Undead.”

“Sargus, at least, before I die, you can still live.”
Lilith knew the ending could no longer be changed.
The combined might of five Thrones, how could a single Legendary-tier like her withstand it?
“Hey, Sargus.”
Lilith stared unblinkingly into his eyes.
“What is it, Lilith?”
“Sargus, if… if back then you hadn’t saved me from that Church’s fire trial, would everything in the Graveyard now never have happened?”
“If I hadn’t revived you then, and hadn’t said that I didn’t want to live alone, would you still have built the Graveyard?”
Everything, even the reason Sargus created the Graveyard…
Was all because of a single promise.
Back then…
It was because Lilith had said she didn’t want to live alone.
So Sargus, almost obsessively, began his path to founding the Graveyard.
At first, he only wanted to give Lilith a place she could belong.
“Lilith, maybe it’s because I was too greedy.”
Sargus spoke faintly.
“Whenever I saw an undead without a home, abandoned by the world, I wanted to bring them back.”
“And because of that, the Graveyard grew stronger and stronger in my hands.”
“Then, Sargus, do you regret it? That now, the Graveyard you built with your own hands was destroyed by the very undead you brought in?”
“Ah, how could I regret it?”
Sargus chuckled softly.
“I’ve already lived long enough. A million years ago, I should have died. Lilith, I’ve already lived an extra million years, what do I have left to regret?”
“Yeah, me too…”
In Sargus’s eyes, the girl in his arms slowly closed her eyes, her breath weakening.
“To be able to stay with you… for a million years… I… don’t regret it…”
As the life faded from the girl in his arms,
Sargus reached out and gently caressed her pale, smooth face.
“Lilith, don’t worry. I will be right there.”

In the distance, the Abyssal Lord looked at Sargus with curiosity.
“Sargus, to think that the Grand Duke of the Undead would turn out to be a Vampire’s First Embrace. Tsk tsk tsk…”
“So what if I am?”
Sargus shook his head. Still holding Lilith in one arm, he extended his other hand to grasp the longsword quietly floating beside him.
“Now then, everyone…”
“The final battle…”
The battle resumed once more.
An overwhelming, chilling aura swept across the world.
On Hyjal Holy Mountain, the NPC coalition that had yet to move, and the players watching from below, raised their heads to look at the sky, at the countless afterimages of the battle, and could not help but gasp in awe.
The final battle.
Sargus, alone against five Thrones, after half an hour of fierce combat, the Grand Duke of the Undead, Sargus… finally fell.
And even in death, the Grand Duke gripped his sword tightly, his gaze fixed forward.
Author Note
The second volume ends here.
The Graveyard Arc, the Greed of the Seven Deadly Sins, and the Grand Duke of the Undead’s story all wrap up at this point.
However, about the Grand Duke’s past, I plan to write it later as an extra side story when I find the time.
As for why the updates for the last part of this volume were a bit slow, honestly, it’s because I realized that my writing skills just aren’t enough to depict truly moving scenes.
To be more precise, it’s my lack of experience. I deleted and rewrote the last few chapters again and again. But no matter how many times I revised them, I still couldn’t achieve the feeling I wanted.
The biggest issue is that when I was writing those final parts, I couldn’t even move myself emotionally, and without that immersion, it’s impossible to create words that touch the heart. It’s really a bit of a pity.
Anyway, I already have a general plan for the main storyline. Each volume will center around one of the Seven Deadly Sins, intertwined with the gradual development of the game world.
The worldbuilding will also expand slowly. And I’m sure everyone has already noticed that Yunchou’s identity as a reborn person has been revealed.
Back to the topic of the Seven Deadly Sins.
What I want to write isn’t just the literal meaning of those sins.
As everyone knows, the Seven Original Sins are Wrath, Greed, Gluttony, Sloth, Pride, Envy, and Lust.
But what I want to portray goes beyond their surface meanings.
Wrath is Samael.
As the first of the Seven Original Sins to inhabit Tianyin’s body, she can control her emotions of anger, and has never once truly become angry.
Greed is Sargus.
Though Sargus embodies Greed, he himself is not greedy. What he values most are those by his side. For the sake of what he calls “family,” Sargus can give up everything.
Reаⅾ οո ΚatRеаԁіոɡСαfе
And as for Lust… will love only one person for Lust’s entire life.
Pride is a humble and timid being… Yes, that’s Lucifer. In my setting, Lucifer is a timid little angel loli!
Envy is someone who only ever thinks for the sake of others.
That’s roughly how I’ve envisioned the Seven Original Sins.
Of course, the story ahead will still mainly revolve around Tianyin’s silly antics, but I’m sure everyone’s already gotten used to the Grand Duke’s interactions with the loli’s foolishness by now. So, I will try to reduce those kinds of scenes a bit in the future.
Also, Tianyin’s growth will be written with more meaningful guidance and development.
Anyway, long story short, Volume 2 officially ends here.
My writing isn’t great, so this is the best I can do.
End of Volume 2.
Translator Note
The author note above was actually in a separate chapter, but I put it in this chapter instead, to not waste the space.
Anyway~ As the author said, this is the end of volume 2.
There are 9 volumes in total, so… 7 more volumes remaining~
And… Seriously, I picked up this novel to laugh, but tears welled up in my eyes instead. Where is the cheerful novel I wished…?
The plot is great, though.
So… I will add Drama genre for this novel~
Yeah, I can’t deny it anymore.
Although this novel also has comedy, the drama stories have appeared a few times already, though most of them are in the form of backstories.
Starting from loli Mengyao’s backstory that she’s crippled in the real world, then Bingxue’s backstory where she was abandoned, Tianyin’s depression after Bingxue left (though I didn’t feel anything for this one, it’s still counted as drama), big sister Xingyu Muxi’s backstory with her mainstream noble’s life, paladin Karl’s death moment, Sargus’ love for his undead family, and now the sudden glimpse of Sargus and Lilith’s backstory.
It might be fine if it’s the villains’ backstories, but none of them can actually be called villains, right?
And then, that author’s note spoiler about Seven Deadly Sins… Yeah, I expect each of them will have their own dramas later.
I also haven’t forgotten that Mengyao’s personality matured so suddenly after her big brother had vanished in front of her.
So yeah, in short, I add Drama genre for this novel~
I still hope I can still laugh when translating the next volume, though…
