Volume 3, Chapter 4 – Why Must Loli Trouble Loli?

Even though Tianyin had found Xiaobingxue, what surprised her was that, at this very moment, Xiaobingxue’s state seemed to have been influenced by Ysera’s main personality. The most obvious sign was how deeply sad Xiaobingxue appeared.

“Well, Xiaobingxue, don’t be sad anymore… I’m here to bring you home now.”

“Go… home.”

Hearing Tianyin’s words, Xiaobingxue blankly tilted her small face upward.

“Go… home?”

“Yes, go home.”

Even though Xiaobingxue’s face remained expressionless, Tianyin still felt a faint ache in her chest as she looked at her like that.

“Go home… together with Xiaoyin…?”

“Yeah, together with me.”

“I see…”

Hearing Tianyin’s answer, Xiaobingxue slowly nodded.

“I want to… go home with Xiaoyin too.”

Even though she felt very sad inside, that sadness was only an emotional influence from Ysera’s main personality. So even though Xiaobingxue, the sub-personality, bore Ysera’s sorrow, her own awareness leaned more toward following Tianyin.

Getting Xiaobingxue’s response made Tianyin finally sigh in relief. After all, just moments ago, seeing the sorrowful and desolate Xiaobingxue, Tianyin couldn’t help but think, if only for an instant, that maybe Xiaobingxue didn’t want to return with her…

But now, that thought just proved to have been unnecessary worry. After all, Ysera was Ysera, and Xiaobingxue was Xiaobingxue. In Ysera’s mind, the Grand Duke Sargus was what mattered most. But for Xiaobingxue, Tianyin was far more important than the Grand Duke Sargus.

Though both personalities shared one body, their modes of thinking didn’t interfere with each other much.

“Hey… Xiaobingxue, will you come back with me? There’s already a place that belongs to us, a home~”

“Home?”

Xiaobingxue tilted her little head. Clearly, the word “home” was something she didn’t really understand. After all, ever since meeting Tianyin, she had always been alone.

And what exactly was this thing called home?

Tianyin didn’t know the doubt in Xiaobingxue’s heart, but even if she did, she wouldn’t try to explain what “home” meant in words. After all, a home was something to be felt, not explained. Once you experienced it, you would come to understand it little by little.

Sometimes, words alone were useless, the key was whether you could make someone feel that sense of belonging. Too many explanations were powerless in the face of reality.

Thinking that, Tianyin reached out her right hand toward Xiaobingxue.

“Hey, Xiaobingxue, will you come back with me?”

It was clearly just one little girl inviting another, yet in that moment, there was a solemn, almost sacred air to it, like a kind of ritual.

“Mm…”

Xiaobingxue’s reply came in that same emotionless tone, flat and calm. Then, her small hand slowly rested atop Tianyin’s outstretched one.

Sometimes, for someone like Xiaobingxue, who was like a blank sheet of paper, only a simple question like “Will you come back with me?” could truly reach her heart.

……

After Tianyin successfully brought Xiaobingxue out from that unknown frozen land, Eden City, under the management of Xingyu Muxi in Tianyin’s stead, had already developed to a considerable scale.

Because during the previous Undead War, most refugees had lost their homes to the undead, a great number of refugees from both the Kingdom and Beastmen Factions had joined Tianyin’s Eden City. Most of these refugees were commoners; Tianyin hadn’t encountered a single noble among them.

Aside from the Beastmen who had pledged loyalty to Tianyin from the start, such as Orgum, the others were mostly people with human-like appearances but beastly ears and tails, Half-beasts.

By this point, Half-beasts made up nearly half of the population of the Lv3 Eden City. That aligned perfectly with Xingyu Muxi’s earlier observation that Half-beasts generally lacked a strong sense of belonging to their strongholds.

Yet, ironically, Xingyu Muxi’s fair treatment toward all races and factions in Eden had not only eased tensions between them but also greatly strengthened the Half-beasts’ sense of belonging far stronger than what they’d had before.

Because of that, when recruiting NPCs into the army during this period, Xingyu Muxi had specially instructed Sharl to prioritize selecting Half-beasts for enlistment.

And to Tianyin’s pleasant surprise, while Half-beasts didn’t possess the overwhelming close-combat power of Beastmen, they excelled in reaction, perception, scouting, stealth, and intelligence-gathering. That made them perfect all-rounders for Eden’s NPC army. Their potential, in truth, was even greater than that of the Beastmen.

Since the city had successfully upgraded to Lv3, its population cap had risen to five million, and the army cap had reached five hundred thousand. However, despite this expansion, Eden’s current population still had a large gap to fill. The upgrade had also expanded the city’s size considerably, meaning the day Eden would be exposed to the world wasn’t far off.

There were two reasons Eden remained hidden for now. First, its location was still within territory occupied by the Undead. Second, the focus of the Main World was currently on the campaign to eradicate the Graveyard’s remaining forces.

Although the Graveyard’s main force had retreated, the remnants left behind still fought fiercely despite being outnumbered. Their resistance was unexpectedly strong.

Leading this remnant army was none other than the legend of the Graveyard, the Headless Knight, once a Kingdom Paladin tens of thousands of years ago, Fischerna.

That was roughly the current situation of the Main World.

As for Tianyin, having inexplicably brought back an emotionless little loli, she had been suffering these past few days under the strange “training ground” torment of Sister Xiaomu, Xiaomengyao, and that emotionless little loli.

Honestly.

After all that, Tianyin just wanted to say one thing.

Since we’re all lolis, why must loli trouble loli?
