Volume 3, Chapter 23 – Deployment
Half-beasts.
After all, half-beasts made up a large portion of the Stronghold’s population, and Eden alone housed nearly two hundred thousand half-beasts…
And according to Xingyu Muxi, the beastmen’s motives were not only because Eden was built on their former territory. It was also very possible that Eden’s two hundred thousand half-beasts had stirred in them a desire to attack Eden.
“Wuu… so… so that’s how it is?”
Tianyin instantly understood what Xingyu Muxi meant.
Because a population of two hundred thousand half-beasts was enormous. There was no way the beastmen of the Stronghold could simply ignore that.
With such a massive number right here, and considering half-beasts originally belonged to the Stronghold, the fact that so many half-beasts were now in Eden made attacking Eden a perfectly reasonable choice.
“Wuu… so becoming a target of the Stronghold’s beastmen is something that was bound to happen?”
Once she understood the key point, Tianyin asked directly.
She didn’t want to admit it, but a fact was a fact.
“Well, yes, it was inevitable. But even so, I didn’t expect it to happen this quickly…”
Even though she had figured out why the Stronghold army would appear near Eden, Tianyin could still feel the faint regret and self-blame in Xingyu Muxi’s voice.

“Sister Xiaomu, you don’t need to blame yourself so much. These things couldn’t be avoided anyway. And now that things have reached this point, all we can do is discuss countermeasures…”
Seeing Xingyu Muxi looking somewhat self-reproachful, Tianyin couldn’t help trying to comfort her.
“Pfft~”
Xingyu Muxi let out a small laugh at Tianyin’s attempt to comfort her.
“Well, this is the first time I’ve seen Xiaoyin seriously trying to comfort someone. But thank you for the comfort~”
She smiled, but her smile was very warm.
“Alright, Xiaoyin. As for countermeasures, there’s no need to rush. What’s more urgent is preparing for the possibility of war~”
“Wuu, preparing for war…”
At this moment, Tianyin behaved unexpectedly obediently. Still, her big eyes blinked with curiosity.
“Sister Xiaomu, does that mean we’re going to be facing war soon?”
According to Xingyu Muxi’s wording, Tianyin naturally assumed the war would break out immediately.

A war where the Stronghold’s beastmen attacked Eden.
Even though Tianyin had Throne-class strength… five minutes of Throne-class power might be enough to repel one wave. But what about the next one?
And with Eden’s twenty thousand half-beast soldiers… Tianyin didn’t feel confident at all.
“Silly girl, of course the war won’t start right away. But even if it won’t break out yet, we still need to prepare~”
“Wuu… but I remember Sister Xiaomu saying before that we needed to prepare?”
Indeed, just two days ago, Xingyu Muxi mentioned preparations.
“Pfft, I did say that. But the preparations back then were different from the preparations now~”
Seeing Tianyin tilt her head with a puzzled expression, Xingyu Muxi couldn’t resist reaching out to rub Tianyin’s hair.
“Wuu… S… Sister Xiaomu?”
“It really is different, Xiaoyin~ Before, I didn’t know whether the outside army was from the Stronghold or the Kingdom. So even though we were preparing, it was all general preparations for dealing with either faction~”
“But now that we know the enemy is the Stronghold’s beastmen, our preparations need to change accordingly~”
“And back then, we didn’t know what intentions that army had. So the defensive arrangements weren’t fully in place… but now it’s time to properly plan our defenses~”

Hearing Xingyu Muxi’s explanation, Tianyin’s half-confused expression finally turned into full understanding.
“So that’s how it is? Sister Xiaomu, I understand now. So next we’re setting up our defenses?”
“Well, more or less. Of course, we also need to send some half-beasts to scout the movements of the beastman army. And starting today, we can no longer accept any refugees…”
“Wuu…”
Tianyin nodded seriously.
While Eden was busy preparing for the possible attack, the beastman army that had been stationed outside Eden had already left their temporary camp and begun marching toward the Northern Fortress.
So when the half-beast scouts Tianyin sent out finally located the place where the Stronghold army had camped, the crude encampment was already completely deserted.
In truth, the beastman army had already moved far beyond Eden’s range and was hurrying toward the Northern Fortress with no intention of slowing down.
……
Meanwhile, along the battlefront where the Stronghold and the remnants of the Graveyard forces faced off, a significant portion of the beastman legions began to apply pressure toward the direction of the Northern Fortress.
At the same time, while the Stronghold army advanced without rest, from another direction, a Kingdom human army was also marching night and day toward the Northern Fortress.

Compared to the seemingly unhurried Stronghold army, the Kingdom army’s commander seemed extremely anxious, their marching speed far outpaced that of the beastmen.
Of course, in terms of distance, the Stronghold army was closer to the Northern Fortress. The Kingdom army, however, had to travel farther.
So even though the Kingdom army was faster, they still had a longer journey.
Therefore, if someone had access to all this information at the same time, they would be shocked to discover that at their current speeds, both armies…
the Kingdom army and the Stronghold army…
would arrive outside the Northern Fortress on the same day, within nearly the same window of time…
Which meant that in three days, the temporary alliance formed by the two factions to fight against the Graveyard…
would completely collapse.
And it was inevitable that, at that time, a brutal battle for control of the Northern Fortress would break out within the fortress walls.
Of course, for now, no one could foresee any of this…
