Volume 1, Chapter 28 – Gale Wolf

Of course, Tianyin immediately noticed the pair of glowing green eyes that suddenly appeared.

“Wuu… if nothing’s wrong, that should be a wild monster from this forest…”

An accurate judgment.

Yes, the creature hiding in the grass, showing only its glowing eyes, was indeed just one of the forest’s wild monsters.

However, the reason Tianyin could detect its presence so accurately was partly due to how familiar she had become with this forest.

Yes, over the past month, Tianyin had often come here to gather medicinal herbs, and when you gather herbs in this forest, encountering wild monsters like this was only natural.

“Wuu… glowing green eyes… it should be a Gale Wolf…”

Tianyin murmured with a slightly uncertain tone.

After all, there were many kinds of wild monsters in this forest, and there were quite a few species that had green eyes. Still, since this was the forest’s outer edge, it was highly likely to be a Gale Wolf.

Gale Wolf, a Level 15 common wild monster, characterized by its incredible speed and its skill, Wind Blade. Its combat strength, however, was not particularly high.

A Level 15 monster, while Tianyin herself was already Level 23. With such a large level gap, Tianyin wasn’t the least bit afraid of a mere Level 15 Gale Wolf.

Of course, though she wasn’t afraid, that didn’t mean she had no complaints.

“Seriously… this body… is way too fragile…”

She voiced her frustration, then slowly pulled from her System inventory the dagger that Xingyu Muxi had given her back in the beginner village.

Over the past month, Tianyin had been consciously training her combat ability.

While she was nowhere near Xingyu Muxi’s level of combat power, she was more than capable of handling ordinary monsters weaker than herself.

And then—

“Slash…”

She softly muttered the word in her heart, and in that instant, a mental image appeared in her mind, herself dashing toward the Gale Wolf and swinging her dagger horizontally.

At the very moment Tianyin whispered “Slash” in her mind, the tall, gray-furred wolf suddenly leaped out from the grass.

Just as she had guessed, the owner of those green eyes was indeed a Level 15 Gale Wolf.

The next second, as the Gale Wolf burst out from the grass, Tianyin made her move.

She leaned her body slightly forward, lowering her center of gravity, and dashed straight toward the oncoming Gale Wolf.

“Awooo—!”

Seeing that the little girl before it showed no fear at all, the Gale Wolf, which already looked down on her, let out an angry howl.

Its front claws raised high, revealing sharp, deadly claws hidden beneath its fur.

Then, with all its strength, it swung those claws down toward the small figure running straight at it.

Pshh!

The sound of flesh being torn.

Though this was a game world and no real blood splattered out, the sound effect was still disturbingly realistic.

In Tianyin’s view, the HP bar above the monster’s head, the Gale Wolf’s, had decreased by about half, visible to the naked eye.

“Wuu… only half its HP?”

Retracting her dagger, Tianyin glanced at the large wound she had cut across the wolf’s body, her tone a bit disappointed.

Despite the huge level difference, the attack hadn’t managed to one-shot it, which she found unsatisfying.

“Awooo—!”

The Gale Wolf, however, didn’t share her thoughts. After being attacked, its eyes turned even fiercer.

Its fanged jaws opened wide, and in the next second, a formless gust of air shot toward Tianyin, its skill, Wind Blade.

It all happened in a flash.

Though Tianyin sensed the Gale Wolf’s attack, she had no time to react!

However…

In the next instant, the invisible Wind Blade shot from the Gale Wolf’s mouth barely grazed past Tianyin’s body.

“Wuu… what’s this…”

Feeling the Wind Blade brush past her, Tianyin blinked in confusion.

Even more confused, though, was the Gale Wolf that had just launched the attack.

“Awoo…”

Its wide wolf eyes stared blankly at the large tree behind Tianyin that had been sliced down by its own Wind Blade. Its fanged jaws hung open in stunned disbelief.
