Volume 1, Chapter 34 – Blocked
Strong… that kind of word was still something far away for Tianyin.
After what happened in the forest, Tianyin followed Yivrea’s lead and finally walked out of that desolate, uninhabited forest.
It was only after stepping out of the forest that Tianyin realized the Sanctuary she had been living in for the past month was actually a building located right in the middle of it.
Though she still couldn’t figure out why there would be a Sanctuary built in a forest…
When they reached the nearby town, what entered Tianyin’s sight was a massive city wall that was more than ten Tianyins tall and several Tianyins thick. Yes, at this point, “Tianyin” had basically become a standard unit of measurement, just like meters!
The enormous wall stretched out endlessly before her eyes, its end nowhere in sight. Based on Tianyin’s limited field of view, even a single wall must have been over ten kilometers long…
The town’s entrance gate stood before her.
Streams of people moved in and out without pause, most of them being players in all sorts of strange outfits and gear, their appearances as varied as their styles.
As Tianyin and Yivrea drew closer to the gate, several players couldn’t help but notice them right away.

“Hey, look, look! There are two super good-looking NPCs over there! And both of them have rare silver-white hair~”
“For real! I’m guessing the system set them up as a mother and daughter, right? I mean, they both have silver hair… It’s gotta be a mother-daughter pair!”
One player said confidently.
“Eh, no way they’re mother and daughter! Are you blind? They’re obviously sisters! Look, the taller one looks like she’s in her prime, how could she already have a daughter? I’m telling you, they’re definitely sisters, that makes way more sense!”
Another player immediately shot back in argument.
And as the players continued discussing Yivrea and Tianyin, the debate over whether they were mother and daughter or sisters spread even further.
Even in a game world, humans couldn’t help their strong curiosity toward beautiful things…
And of course, every word of their discussion reached Tianyin’s ears without missing a beat.

“Wuu…”
“Mother and daughter? Sisters? We’re just friends! Yivrea and I are simply friends!”
Tianyin couldn’t help but sigh inwardly, feeling helpless. But while the players gossiped, Yivrea, one of the very subjects of their chatter, didn’t react at all.
“Wuu… Rea?”
Tianyin gently tugged on the corner of Yivrea’s clothes.
“Mm? What is it, Xiaoyin?”
“Aren’t you mad, Rea?”
“Mad?”

But to Tianyin’s surprise, Yivrea’s face showed genuine confusion.
“Why would I be mad? Xiaoyin, you didn’t do anything wrong, did you?”
“Eh…”
There was no doubt Yivrea meant what she said. After spending a month together, Tianyin had a fairly good grasp of what kind of person Yivrea was.
But if Yivrea’s words were true, then why hadn’t she reacted at all to what the players were saying?
Puzzled, Tianyin suddenly thought of one possible reason.
That was…
“Hey, Rea, don’t you think it’s a bit noisy around here?”

Yes, Tianyin decided to ask indirectly. Through Yivrea’s answer, she could verify whether her guess was correct.
“It’s not noisy at all. Though there are quite a lot of people wearing strange clothes from the outside world, they’re all being pretty quiet, aren’t they?”
The always seemingly all-powerful Yivrea spoke words that utterly stunned Tianyin.
Because from Yivrea’s response, Tianyin could now confirm her suspicion.
That was…
“Yivrea” couldn’t hear the players’ conversations about them at all.
In other words, the players’ communication was automatically blocked from her… or rather, from the NPCs… by the game world’s system itself.
