Volume 1, Chapter 38 – Yivrea’s Departure
Outside, in the Job Change Hall, Tianyin saw a burly player with a greatsword on his back walk in.
And in Tianyin’s view, above the player’s head, there was an unexpected crimson-colored name.
Duansheng Tingyu.
If Tianyin’s guess was correct, that red text must be the player’s ID.
The player before her exuded an aura of menace, his otherwise plain face filled with an unsettling, murderous intent.
And it seemed the Paladins still idling in the hall had sensed the unusual identity of this man. Without a word, several of them simultaneously rested their hands on the hilts of their swords.
“Who goes there!”
The leading Paladin, a middle-aged man, spoke in a stern voice, his tone both sharp and commanding.
However, in the face of this demand, the player called “Duansheng Tingyu” didn’t show even the slightest reaction.
“Looking for someone.”
His tone was short and to the point.
Though flat, the words carried an undeniable weight.
“Looking for who?”
The Paladin continued to ask.
Even though he sensed this player was no ordinary person, as a Paladin, he could not strike first.
For that would go against the Paladin’s code.
“Fisiel.”
The next second, Duansheng Tingyu uttered the knight girl’s name.
“Lady Fisiel isn’t someone you can just meet as you please. Leave at once!”

“…”
But Duansheng Tingyu didn’t seem to hear the Paladin’s dismissal. His expression remained completely still.
“I’m looking for Fisiel.”
“Leave now. Lady Fisiel isn’t someone a small fry like you can meet.”
“…”
After a tense standoff that lasted nearly fifteen minutes, Duansheng Tingyu’s gaze gradually turned cold.
His hand slowly reached toward the greatsword strapped to his back.
Noticing his movement, the surrounding Paladins likewise drew their hands to their sword hilts.
“Blood…”
The man muttered under his breath.
“Blood Knight…”
Meanwhile, Tianyin, who was quietly standing at the side as a spectator, looked completely puzzled after hearing his strange mumbling.
But just as the man was about to make his move…
His hand suddenly stopped, then pulled back.
“I’ll let it go for today. But I’ll be back tomorrow.”
After leaving those words, the man turned around and, with that same emotionless expression and the scarlet name hovering above his head, walked out carrying his greatsword.
Watching his back disappear into the distance, the Paladins quietly released the grips on their weapons.
Then they each went back to their business as if nothing had ever happened.
“…”

“Eh?”
As for Tianyin, who had witnessed the entire thing with her own eyes, she was completely baffled.
“So… what was that all about?”
She didn’t understand, but digging into such questions wasn’t really her style, so before long she simply tossed the matter out of her mind and forgot all about it.
A few minutes later, the silver-haired girl Yivrea and the knight girl Fisiel walked out together.
“Xiaoyin, sorry to have kept you waiting~”
Yivrea smiled apologetically as she spoke to Tianyin.
“It’s okay~ it wasn’t that long~”
“Well, I’ve already discussed everything with Fisiel, so from now on, when I’m not around, Xiaoyin can stay here~”
“Wuu…”
Hearing Yivrea mention the knight girl’s name, Tianyin snuck a glance at the girl standing beside her.
The girl’s face was both beautiful and dignified, and her gem-like eyes were studying Tianyin with open curiosity.
Noticing Tianyin’s small, shy movement, the knight girl smiled warmly at her.
“Hello, Xiaoyin~ I’m really sorry for mistaking you earlier for Yivrea’s daughter or something~ Really, I’m so sorry~”
“Wuu…”
Caught off guard by the sudden apology, Tianyin was at a loss for words and didn’t know how to respond.
Yivrea, seeing Tianyin’s awkwardness, stepped in to smooth things over.
“Alright, alright, Xiaoyin wasn’t really bothered by it anyway. But from now on, I’ll be counting on you to take care of her~”
“I can’t guarantee much else, but if anyone dares to harm little Xiaoyin under my watch, they’ll have to get through me first~”

Fisiel’s tone was full of confidence.
“Wuu…”
Hearing their exchange, Tianyin more or less guessed what was coming.
“Rea’s leaving?”
“Mm-hmm, I’m leaving, Xiaoyin. But you be good and wait for me to come back, alright~”
Yivrea gently patted Tianyin’s head, smiling softly.
To anyone watching, the silver-haired girl’s gentle gesture toward the silver-haired child looked every bit like that of a mother parting from her daughter.
“Hey, Rea?”
“What is it?”
“There are still lots of Life Skills I haven’t learned yet, so you have to come back soon, okay~”
“Of course. I definitely will~”
After reassuring Tianyin, Yivrea stood up and turned her gaze to the knight girl.
“Then, I’ll be leaving now.”
“Alright.”
Fisiel nodded, then silently watched Yivrea until the silver-haired girl’s figure vanished from sight.
“Xiaoyin~ That’s what you’re called, right?”
A few seconds after Yivrea left, the knight girl turned to the still gloomy Tianyin.
“Wuu… I’m Tianyin, but yeah, Xiaoyin is fine too…”
“Alright then, Xiaoyin, have you ever thought about becoming a Paladin?”

A Paladin?
Tianyin immediately looked up, her curious eyes locking on the knight girl standing before her.
“Paladin? Why would I want to be that?”
To be honest, Tianyin couldn’t help but feel that as a loli, becoming a loli Paladin would be far too weird.
After all, imagining a little loli Paladin raising a sword taller than herself, or worse, a tiny custom short sword, and shouting lines like “The Holy Light be with you!”…
That was just way too embarrassing!
“Well, Paladins are really strong, you know~”
The knight girl, unaware of what Tianyin was thinking, continued to coax her gently.
“Wuu… I… will think about it?”
Seeing the hopeful look in the knight girl’s eyes, Tianyin gave a soft, vague reply.
“What’s there to think about? Since you’ve already got the thought, just follow me~”
“When the time comes, I’ll definitely train you into a proper little loli Paladin~”
“Hmph! No way! Absolutely not!”
Tianyin puffed up in protest.
After all, there were countless classes in this game world stronger than Paladin. It wasn’t even one of the top ones, so saying Paladins were “strong” was quite the stretch!
Still, as a Paladin, the girl was determined to teach Tianyin the way of the knights.
And, of course, to make her feel just how wonderful it would be to change her job into a Paladin.
