Volume 5, Chapter 42 – They’re The Enemy~
“NPC? Are you sure?”
Fanster frowned when he heard that.
The player who had come to report did not understand why Fanster suddenly looked so tense, but since Fanster had asked, even though he felt puzzled, he still answered.
“Absolutely… definitely an NPC. And that little girl’s direction of travel seems to be heading our way.”
“A little girl? What kind of little girl?”
“The distance is too far so they couldn’t see clearly, but those Assassin brothers doing the scouting remembered some of the little girl’s physical traits… looks like she has silver hair.”
“Silver hair…”
Fanster’s heart tightened.
“Go, tell the Assassins who are scouting to pull back right now.”
“Yes…”
The reporting player felt baffled. But under the pressure of Fanster’s Legendary strength and his status as commander of the army, he still hurried away.
Of course, the trusted players by Fanster’s side exploded.
“Brother Fan, it’s just an NPC little girl. There’s no need to make such a big fuss, right?”
“You call this making a big fuss?”
Fanster’s face darkened.
“It’s not just that I want the Assassin players to come back, I’m also going to order the whole army to detour.”
“This…”

Several players stared at each other, utterly confused.
“Wait… Brother Fan, a normal NPC doesn’t warrant this. Over this past month, we don’t even know how many NPCs we’ve killed. There’s no need to take a detour. We can just send someone to kill that NPC little girl, right?”
“Heh.”
Fanster let out a cold laugh.
“You’ve at least been following me for quite a while now. Do you not know how I failed last time?”
“Last time… wasn’t it because of that Black Dragon?”
“Black Dragon?”
Fanster shook his head.
“That was only the main reason. The fundamental reason was that I was too arrogant back then.”
“Do you know what arrogance means? It means seeing no one in your eyes, not knowing how high the sky is or how thick the earth is, understand?”
“Got it, got it. But Brother Fan, what does that have to do with us right now? It’s just an NPC little girl in front. I don’t believe a mere little girl can one-shot all these players we have with us.”
“Heh.”
Fanster let out a laugh that was hard to read.
“You don’t believe it? Then how about this, you take a group of players to deal with that little girl. If anything happens, I’ll have the army change course. How does that sound?”
“Yeah, that works. Brother Fan, trust me, I’ll go kill that NPC little girl right away.”
Fanster’s proposal was not easy to refuse, and in these trusted players’ understanding, what they were going to deal with was only an NPC, nothing more.
Watching those players ride off on their warhorses with a portion of the troops, about half a minute later, Fanster quietly muttered to himself in a voice only he could hear.

“In this world, the ones who can’t see what’s in front of them just die faster…”
Once he finished speaking, Fanster called over a player responsible for passing on orders.
“Spread the word, we can’t use the road ahead anymore. Everyone, let’s detour.”
“Yes!”
This time, after leaving the Fortress and returning to the Main World, Tianyin had planned to hurry back to Eden after obtaining the Power of Sloth.
However, only after finishing absorbing the Power of Sloth did Tianyin belatedly realize something… she kind of couldn’t tell which way she was going anymore.
More accurately, she was lost.
“Wuu…”
Once she realized she was lost, Tianyin couldn’t help letting out a wail.
『How… How did this happen… Samael, my sense of direction is supposed to be really good… how did I get lost?』
As she used her small fingers to tuck her silver hair behind her ear, Tianyin spoke to Samael in a dejected tone in her mind.
「Well, mainly Xiaoyin stayed in the underground world for too long. It’s understandable you don’t remember the way…」
Samael’s voice sounded softly in her mind.
Samael’s words worked as very good comfort.
『This is something I can’t help either…』
Tianyin let out a slightly discouraged sigh.

『Looks like I’ll have to find someone to ask for directions… but come to think of it, this should be the Elven Empire territory of the Nature Faction, right? Why don’t I see a single Elf?』
「No idea. Anyway, let’s look around first.」
『Mm…』
Just as Tianyin was planning to start carefully searching, she suddenly lifted her head.
『Samael, it feels like someone’s coming over.』
「Yeah… looks like a group of people on horseback, not sure if they’re Elves…」
『Well, whether they’re Elves or not doesn’t matter, as long as I can ask the way~』
Samael’s voice sounded a bit heavy, but Tianyin didn’t take it seriously.
While Tianyin was talking with Samael, the people on horseback she had sensed appeared within her field of vision.
Once she saw them clearly, Tianyin’s little face filled with a surprised expression.
“Eh, it’s actually a group of outsiders. How strange, outsiders are supposed to be really rare inside the Elven Empire, so how come there’s a whole group of them?”
In Tianyin’s sight, those outsiders on horseback, in other words the players, were currently galloping straight toward her direction.
Not only that, every one of those players was wearing very uniform standard equipment. Aside from the few players in the lead, the weapons in the other players’ hands were almost all the same.
And Tianyin felt, though she didn’t know if it was just her imagination, that those players all seemed to be heading straight for her.
“Mm… I just want to ask for directions. I can’t start a fight over this weird feeling out of nowhere. That would be way too violent…”
Taking a deep breath, Tianyin forced down the urge in her heart to make a move.
However, just as Tianyin was starting to think about how to greet them, the leading player charging toward her suddenly shouted loudly.

“There she is, brothers, take her out!”
“Mm?”
Tianyin blinked slightly.
『Samael, did that Outsider just say they’re going to take care of me?』
「Pfft, other than those outsiders, there’s only you here. If they’re not taking care of you, who else would it be?」
『Mm, I see.』
Although she did not know why those players wanted to take her out, Tianyin was not the sort of person who liked to sit and wait for death.
Of course, after being tempered by the Fortress Emperor inside the Fortress for more than a month, Tianyin’s personality had also been influenced a little by the Fortress Emperor.
“Since they want to take me out, that means they’re the enemy.”
“And if they’re the enemy…”
Looking at that group of players charging toward her on their warhorses, purple light began to flicker in Tianyin’s eyes.
“Then I’ll kill every single one of them.”
Once she softly said this, Tianyin slowly drew the Victory Golden Sword from her backpack that had already been enhanced to +20.
“And… leave none.”
The next instant, Tianyin’s petite figure vanished from where she had been standing.
