Volume 6, Chapter 3 – A Plan

Outside of the kingdom under Yunchou’s control and the Arcane Empire under Andrew’s control, there were also large numbers of players within the territory that had once belonged to the Stronghold.

After the Stronghold lost its dominance, these lord players bared their fangs, and in the end even began attacking one another for the “interests” under their own command.

And after Fanster, who had possessed the potential to unify all Stronghold players, declined for unknown reasons.

Very soon, within the Stronghold’s sphere of influence, a player force whose members all bore the prefix 【Kongjing】 slowly rose up among the Stronghold-side players.

As for this guild, Kongjing, players’ impression of it was that it was a relatively united guild.

To Tianyin, however, Kongjing sounded inexplicably familiar.

Of course, because quite some time had passed, and Tianyin had never paid much attention to things she considered unimportant, she did not know that this guild, Kongjing, was actually the guild Yunchou had once been in…

By now, the slowly rising Kongjing Guild had already grown even stronger than Fanster had been back then.

After absorbing and consolidating the vast majority of the Stronghold-side player forces, the Kongjing Guild’s power was almost enough to challenge the Beastmen, who currently had no Throne, head on.

In fact, that was exactly what the Kongjing Guild’s guild master had done.

After occupying a vast expanse of Beastmen territory, he directly forced the Beastmen to join Dawn.

This was the reason the Beastmen had let go of their hatred toward Tianyin for killing the Prophet and still chose to join Dawn.

After all, Dawn was at least willing to leave them room to survive after they lost the war, whereas the players, that is, the outsiders, simply adopted a tactic of wiping them out completely.

Emotionally and logically, it was only natural that the Beastmen would choose to join Dawn.

And when it came to Dawn, which possessed Tianyin’s Throne, the Kongjing guild master did not make the foolish move of openly provoking Dawn the way Fanster had.

Once he learned that the Beastmen had joined Dawn, the Kongjing players stopped attacking the Beastmen, and up to now they still maintained a rare state of peace with them.

However… as Kongjing’s territory expanded, the scope it needed to govern and rule expanded accordingly.

And within Kongjing’s current “domain of rule”, the gorge Tianyin had once used to enter the Mohayda Underground City was now part of Kongjing’s sphere of influence.

So…

On a bright and breezy day, while peace still held between them and the Beastmen, a huge army of Minotaurs with horns on their heads, towering physiques, and extremely powerful close combat capabilities suddenly appeared within Kongjing’s territory.

Not only that. Along with the appearance of this army, a unit of elven mages that looked similar to the Nature Faction also began to show themselves alongside the Minotaur army.

On the very first day these unfamiliar NPC armies appeared, large numbers of players within Kongjing’s lands died at the hands of those NPCs.

“What the hell is going on? What’s with those Dark Elves from the underground city? And that Minotaur army?”

“Can anyone tell me whether we did something to provoke them?!”

As Kongjing’s only Legendary, the Kongjing guild master, whose ID was 【Kongjing Danqiu Yibai】, exploded in fury in the guild’s meeting room the moment he learned that these NPC armies had come from the underground city.

“Guild Master, all the brothers we sent to approach those NPCs were killed and sent straight back to the respawn point. Those NPCs completely refuse to talk to us…”

Picking up from Danqiu Yibai’s words, a player in the meeting room reported the obstacles on the intelligence front.

“They refuse to talk to us? Sounds like they came with bad intentions.”

Danqiu Yibai looked like an ordinary man in his late twenties. After listening to the player’s report, the anger in his eyes narrowed into a contemplative squint.

“If they won’t even talk to us, these NPCs from the underground city… must have pretty big ambitions. Do they intend to imitate the Graveyard from back then and start a war that sweeps across the entire Main World?”

“Guild Master, that seems unlikely… As far as I know, those Dark Elves and Minotaurs down in the Underground World don’t even dare provoke the Fortress. Starting a war that sweeps across the whole world should be beyond them.”

“Oh? If you put it like that, then these NPCs aren’t actually that strong?”

When he heard a player say that the Dark Elves and Minotaurs did not even dare provoke the Fortress, Danqiu Yibai, who was not very familiar with the situation in the Underground World, began to scheme.

“So tell me, if we make a move against these NPC armies from the Underground World, how likely are we to win?”

“I’m not sure… but according to the intel we have so far, among the NPC forces in the Underground World, aside from the Fortress and the Fortress Emperor, there are no other Thrones. So within this NPC army that’s invaded the Surface World, the most powerful combatants should only be Legendary-tier.”

“Only Legendary?”

Muttering to himself, Danqiu Yibai’s eyes lit up slightly after he pondered for a while.

“This NPC army should just be the vanguard of the NPCs… I don’t know what these NPCs are planning, but their act of invading the Surface World is real.”

“Since it is an invasion war, I think we should blow this matter up.”

At this, the players in the meeting room looked at one another, each with an expression that said they did not understand what their guild master was talking about.

“It’s very simple. We just take this incident, where the Underground World’s army has invaded our territory, and blow it up into a major event, spreading the claim that the forces of the Underground World intend to invade the Main World. That way we make all the powers in the Main World take this seriously.”

“Guild Master, that doesn’t seem very good.”

A player raised an objection.

“If the lie about us deceiving the other forces gets exposed, what do we do then?”

“What do we do? You’re asking what we do? When the time comes, if the truth comes out, we just find someone to take the fall, isn’t that enough? What, are you saying you want to be the one to take the blame?”

“No, no… Guild Master, you are wise. Actually I think this plan is great!”

“Just do as I said next. No matter how strong those forces from the Underground World are, there’s no way our one guild can handle all these NPCs. So we have to widen the impact of this incident and drag the other powers into it, and we won’t have to put in much effort at all…”

Since he had decided on this course of action, Danqiu Yibai began to explain the objectives of this plan in detail in the meeting room, along with some of its requirements.

“Right, Guild Master, what if those other powers think the NPCs from the Underground World don’t actually have the strength to invade the Main World?”

Halfway through Danqiu Yibai’s explanation, a player suddenly raised a question.

At that question, Danqiu Yibai looked at the player as if he were an idiot.

“Are you stupid? You just say these forces from the Underground World have colluded with the demons of Inferno. That solves it, doesn’t it? I refuse to believe that if you drag Inferno into it, those people still won’t take it seriously.”

“Uh… got it…”
