Volume 6, Chapter 20 – She Is Very Strong
Stalling for time.
The plan had been exposed, but going back on it was already impossible.
So now the only way left was to rely on Julius and the few thousand troops behind him, brought here mainly to “bluff”, to hold back the nearly one hundred thousand enemies opposite them.
“Now all we can do is drag this out… Even though an enemy force of a hundred thousand is a bit terrifying, if they don’t have a Legendary-tier commander on their side… we can still barely hold on until my lord arrives.”
Faced with an enemy army ten or twenty times their own number, Orgum actually seemed to be taking it relatively in stride.
Compared to Orgum, however, Julius, the Legendary standing beside him, did not look nearly as calm.
“I understand that much… but if the enemy realizes what we’re trying to do, pins us down here, and then launches an attack somewhere else… then we’re in real trouble…”
You could say Orgum was only seeing the first layer of the situation, while Julius was already looking at the second.
Of course, compared to Julius and Orgum, Seles, the one who had commanded the entire Minotaur army to attack, was seeing several layers deeper than either of them.
“Gather up all the troops that have broken through their defensive line. This time, I want to personally kill another Legendary.”
Standing in the main camp, looking out over the Minotaur army that had already begun its assault and was now engaged in battle, Seles’ gaze was icy cold, yet her voice carried a note that allowed no argument.
“Gather the troops from the other fronts as well? Your Highness, I will go and notify them at once.”
The Dark Elf maid standing behind Seles bowed respectfully, then slowly withdrew.

Sensing the Dark Elf behind her leave, Seles’s eyes turned a little dazed.
Then, as if she had suddenly thought of something, a slightly sickly smile appeared on her face.
“This time… will I be the one to get you, or will I die in your hands, Xiaoyin?”
Half an hour had already passed.
In that half hour, on the defensive line, the densely packed Minotaurs surged forward like a tide, slaughtering as they came.
As the only Legendary present, and also the one Tianyin had appointed as overall commander in charge of guarding the border zone, Julius was fulfilling his duty, personally taking the field and holding the very front against the enemy’s onslaught.
Indeed, as a Legendary, in a large-scale battle like this, if there was no opposing Legendary to hold him in check, Julius could practically go on an unstoppable rampage in war.
But although Julius was rampaging, and almost no Minotaur could withstand even a single exchange with him, the several thousand soldiers fighting alongside him could not do what Julius was doing and rampage freely across the battlefield.
And in fact.
After just half an hour of fighting, even with the advantage of a prepared position, the sheer weight of enemy numbers had crushed them. Aside from Julius, most of the others had already died under a storm of blades.
Those who remained were only a few hundred elite-tier or higher-ranked soldiers and, along with them, Orgum, who possessed Epic-tier strength and was now also covered in wounds.
“Hah…”

Even someone as strong as Julius could not help but be out of breath after rampaging for roughly half an hour.
Looking at the few hundred battered soldiers still at his side and the badly injured Orgum, guilt showed on Julius’s face.
“This is my fault… If I hadn’t insisted on carrying out the troop withdrawal plan, things wouldn’t have ended up like this…”
“At a time like this, what good does beating yourself up do?”
As Julius blamed himself, Orgum pressed a hand to his own wound, his expression growing more and more grave.
“Plans never keep up with change. War is exactly like this… Reality is never going to unfold exactly the way you imagined in your plans. Having things go wrong like this is only natural.”
“Now is not the time to lose heart and blame yourself. Julius, what we need to think about now is how to fix this.”
Orgum’s words made Julius pause for a moment.
“Fix it? How are we supposed to fix it?”
Orgum had indeed said the word “fix”, but when Julius thought about the fact that they only had a few hundred troops left under their command, he truly did not understand what kind of “fix” Orgum was talking about.
“It is all on you, Julius.”
As Orgum said this, the movement tugged at his wound and the corner of his mouth twitched slightly.

“With your Legendary-tier strength, you can absolutely break out of the encirclement. From here on, what you need to do is charge straight out.”
After he finished speaking, Orgum grinned.
“Wait, why am I the one breaking out? If anyone is going to break out, it should be all of you. With my Legendary strength, helping you break out wouldn’t be that hard.”
“Haha, I’m really moved hearing you say that, but I don’t agree with your approach.”
Orgum held his wound and looked around at the soldiers, almost all of whom were injured.
“Julius… as a Legendary, your strategic value is much higher than that of people like us. No one understands that better than you do. And as the supreme commander appointed by our lord, I can die, but you absolutely cannot.”
“And besides… I am one of the old-timers who pledged myself to our lord back when he was just starting out. The newcomer should listen to the veteran, that is how things are supposed to be, right?”
“…”
Orgum said those last words in a joking tone.
But compared to that joking tone, what Julius heard was Orgum’s absolute determination to make him break out.
“What, still hesitating? Julius, while the enemy hasn’t yet launched their final assault, get out of here.”
“I understand…”

Julius took a deep breath, as if he had finally made up his mind.
“Orgum, I’ll break out first. After all, if both of us stay here, the whole army will be left without anyone to command it.”
However, just as Julius was about to leave, a commotion suddenly rose within the ranks of the Minotaur army in the distance.
Immediately after, at the very front of their formation, an Elf girl with an extremely delicate-looking figure stepped out.
The sudden appearance of the Elf girl was of course noticed by Julius and the others, and the instant he saw her, Julius’s pupils shrank sharply. He looked as if he were facing some existence that filled him with dread, tense and on his guard.
“What is it?”
Seeing Julius suddenly take up such a stance, Orgum was a little at a loss.
“That girl… is very strong.”
Julius kept it brief, using the simplest description to describe the Elf girl who was walking toward them from afar.
“I’m afraid I’m not her match…”
